RockReach

is a multifaceted community outreach program which makes dance more accessible to underserved urban youth in the region. RockReach has a significant impact on a child’s social, artistic, and academic life.

RockReach serves students in Title 1, public, charter and parochial schools. Our three-part initiative enhances the lives of economically disadvantaged youths and offers them a safe space to explore, grow, and express themselves through creative outlets. Established in 2000, RockReach now serves over 20,000 Philadelphia and New Jersey children. RockReach helps shape the children who are the tri-state’s future.

RockReach Residencies RockReach’s In-School Residency integrates 36 weeks of high-quality, weekly dance instruction into each participating school’s curriculum. Professional Rock School instructors engage children in multidisciplinary dance classes, teaching movement skills from various dance disciplines such as ballet, jazz, hip hop, and modern. The RockReach Residency program has a positive impact on the lives of Philadelphia’s youth and strengthens local communities.

Due to ongoing budget constraints occurring in Philadelphia and its surrounding areas Arts and Physical Education programs in schools are gradually being eliminated. RockReach Residencies offer physical activity where such programs are needed. All residency students perform for friends and family in a production at the end of the school year.

RockReach residencies now serve 2000 students in 25 schools! During the 2014-2015 school year, RockReach will provide In-School Residencies at the following schools: • Anna B. Day School

• Khepera Charter School Upsal Campus

• Camden’s Pride Charter School

Dynamics of Dance Assemblies Dynamics of Dance offers energetic, interactive performances by Rock School dancers. The assemblies are designed to inspire children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to see high-quality culturally enriching performances. Children are invited to share the stage with Rock students and learn basic ballet terminology and positions. This represents the “children reaching children” component of RockReach.

RockReach students are given the opportunity to observe a pre-professional ballet class and participate in a “master class” at The Rock School. The pre-professional classes demonstrate that hard work, perseverance and passion can lead to a bright future. RockReach teaches young students that they are capable of reaching incredible goals.

• Our Lady of Calvery • Our Lady Of Port Richmond • Pan American Academy Charter School • Roberto Clemente Middle School • US Dream Academy • William C. Bryant Promise Academy

Through Dynamics of Dance, The Rock School reaches over 10,000 Philadelphia children annually through performance, interaction, and inspiration. 11/18/14 7:10 AM
