Thisyear,RUPAhascontinuedtofocusonbuilding confidentandadaptableplayerswhocontinueto growaspeople.Weareproudoftheprogressand strongfoundationwehavelaidtogether,andare excitedtobuildonthismomentuminto2025.
Thisyear’sBuildcorpInductionCampfocusedon equippingournextgenerationofplayerswiththe skillstothriveonandoffthefield.Weaddressed manyareasofplayers’offfielddevelopmentaswell asthechallengesoftransitioningintoelitesporting environments.Throughtheprogram,weallowed playerstodevelopagrowthmindsetandproactive copingstrategiesandsetgoalsfortheircareer ahead.
Playersalsoexploredfinancialmanagement,budgeting,personal branding,vocationalskills,mediatrainingandmentalwellbeing,gaining practicaltoolstonavigateearlycareerchallenges.Theyreflectedon personalstrengths,buildinghigh-qualityconnections,andcontributingto teamsuccess.

Wealsorecognisethetrauma andupheavalthatwas experiencedasaresultofthe MelbourneRebelslicencenot beingrenewedforthe2025 SuperRugbySeason.This eventbroughtmany challengestomany stakeholdersintheGame.

TThe2024RUPAPlayerAgentAccreditationConference,hostedatRugby AustraliaHQ,broughttogetheraccreditedagentsfromacrossthecountry todeepentheirunderstandingofkeyissuesaffectingprofessionalrugby players.TheconferenceprovidedacomprehensiveoverviewofthePlayer AgentAccreditationScheme,andRUPA’sroleinadministeringtheScheme acrosstheprofessionalrugbylandscapeinAustralia.
TheconferencecommencedwithapresentationfromRugbyAUChair,Dan Herbert(Wallaby#715)whoprovidedanoverviewofRugbyAU’sstrategy fortheGoldenDecadeahead.Othersessionsincludedrepresentatives fromRUPAandRugbyAUprovidingupdatesonplayercontractingplansfor theyearsahead,thestrategiesaroundhigh-performanceprograms acrossthevariousformatsofthegame,aswellasanoverviewofthe financialhealthofthegamemovingforward.

ThefirstdayoftheBuildcorpRugbyPlayerInductionCamp,setastrong foundationforincomingplayersastheyembarkedontheirjourneyintohighperformancerugby.
With18playersattendingfromacrossallclubs,Day1wasaboutequipping playerswithtoolstonavigatethechallengesoftransitioningintotheelite sportingenvironment,whilstfosteringpersonalandprofessionalgrowth.The daykickedoffwithlunchatTheHolidayInnPottsPointwhereplayersgota chancetomeeteachotheranddevelopconnections.

Thiswasfollowedbyathought-provokingdiscussiononPersonalIntegrity andObligationsasanathlete,ledbyRugbyAUHeadofIntegrity,AmyThorp, andLegalCounsel,Community&Integrity,DanielleHodgson,which underscoredtheimportanceofmaintainingvalueswithinpersonaland professionalenvironments.Playersrole-playedsituationswheretheirintegrity couldbetested,anddevelopedsafeandwell-thoughtresponses.
