The next closest skate park is 30 minutes away and this location is almost always empty, according to Aloisi.

“A lot more people started traveling here for the skatepark and skate shop,” he said.

New participants in the sport will become investors in the equipment sold at Seasons, according to Gagne. He stresses that this is why kids are so important. He explained that kids are will eventually keep Seasons open as the current generation of skaters gets older. The skate park and Seasons pro- vides a sense of community that kids who become interested in skating can gravitate into. This provides people for them to look up to, according to Gagne.

The growing number of kids is easy to see, according to Aloisi, who said “A lot of us are willing to help teach the kids proper skate etiquette.”

The skating community as a whole views the skate park as a positive addition to Washington Park, as well as the Albany area. It provides a safe and legal space for skateboarders to be, while creating an inviting environment for kids and generating business for Seasons. “It think it’s good for everyone, the city and us,” said Aloisi.

The Psychology of Fear

On Tuesday, Oct. 24, the Psychology Club will be hosting a Halloween party in Albertus 208. The theme is the psychology of fear, an interactive experience to learn about phobias.

There will be festive and spooky snacks and activities. In the game “What’s in the Box?” participants will reach inside a box and try to figure out what they are touching.
