Downtown Jackson Construction Shop Local The Finale:

Completion of Mechanic to Blackstone Underground Infrastracture and Surface Revitalization

Downtown Jackson will be fully outfied with new pipes when the underground portion of the Dig Downtown Jackson project is completed in the summer of 2015. These new pipes are expected to provide service for generations. Once the infrastructure work between Mechanic and Blackstone is complete, crews work to prepare the street, curb and sidewalk areas for their new surfaces. Improvements to Michigan Avenue’s overall appearance and usability from Francis to Blackstone set the table for the future of downtown development in Jackson. What you will see: 1. Alternative Entrance: The project area spans from building-face to building-face across Michigan Avenue, so as crews complete the new sidewalks, it’s possible that businesses will provide alternate entrances. 2. Worth the Investment: The Dig Downtown Project is primarily funded by water and sewer funds. The work provides an opportunity to make a cost-effective investment in the street’s surface and sidewalks as well.

Come, Kiy, Come By Tresa Erickson Have you ever seen a cat on the loose? Perhaps it was wandering through your owerbeds or peeking into your screen door. How long did you stand around and watch it before you called out to it? Did it come to you? No? No surprise there. Most cats will not come running even when their owner calls out to them. Stray and feral cats will almost never come when called because of a lack of socialization. Stray cats and feral cats are domestic cats, but they are not one and the same. Stray cats are just that - stray. At one time or another, they belonged to someone and lived in a home. Stray cats have bonded with people, whereas feral cats have not. Feral cats grew up in the wild, fending for themselves and their young. They have never had a relationship with people and fear them. Feral cats usually remain feral cats. If le to fend for themselves long enough, stray cats can become feral cats. Determining the status of a cat you see wandering around outdoors is not always

easy. Cats that wear collars or look well cared for probably belong to someone in your neighborhood. They are well socialized and may even approach you when called. Cats that shy away from you are either stray or feral cats. Stray cats tend to look and act like disheveled housecats. They oen have a dirty coat, walk around with their tails up and may even look or meow at you. They are most likely to be seen during the day and usually live alone. Feral cats tend to be cleaner than stray cats but act more like animals found in the wild. They live with other feral cats in a colony and oen lurk around at night, crouching low all on fours in an aempt not to be seen. They want nothing to do with people and will do their best to avoid all human contact. Depending upon whether you are dealing with a stray or a feral cat, there are a number of actions you can take. You can aempt to befriend a stray cat. Because it was once part of a home, stray cats are much more likely to be socialized again. If the cat warms up to you, you may even be able

to adopt it. It will take some time and eort to reacclimate the cat to a home, but it can be done. Feral cats, on the other hand, are much harder to socialize. They have been on their own so long that bringing them into a home rarely works out. You should leave a feral cat be, unless you have a trapneuter program in your area. In that case, you may be able to trap the feral cat, have it ďŹ xed at no charge and return it to the wild. This will help keep the feral cat population in check. Should you come across a feral kiďż˝en, you may have more of a chance to connect with it. Feral kiďż˝ens do not fear people as much and may even be able to be adopted. Speak to your veterinarian for further advice. Cats are wanderers by nature, and you may have seen more than one wandering around your neighborhood. Be careful how you approach it. Watch the cat for a while and befriend it only if you are sure it’s safe. Cats can carry disease, and they do scratch and bite. Don’t take a chance on injury. Admire the cat from afar and act with caution.

A New Furnace and Air Conditioner! Hurry Offer ends +XUU\ November 30, 2015 We know the last thing you want to think about right now is replacing your equipment but NOW is the perfect time. Why?

• With our cooler than normal summer we have lots of excess stock we need to get rid of! • Last year’s extreme winter may have taken its toll on your furnace and so we’ll help get you ready for this winter by extending this deal to furnaces too! • This is the best deal we’ve published this year but it’s only good until Nov. 30! • We have lots of appointments available so we can work around your busy schedule – call us today at 517-879-2049. • Fuel prices have increased ~which means you could be paying more this winter. You could save up to 30%** annually by replacing you old system with a high efficiency furnace and air conditioning system. • You can combine our offer with the Consumer Energy rebates and save up to $900.

Energy Star® has identified telltale signs that your equipment should be replaced if: • Your furnace is over 15 years old and your air conditioner is over 10 years old. • You’ve had frequent repairs - this could mean your equipment has become less efficient. • Your system is noisy. • Your home is too humid.

Our Benefits

• Industry leading Product and Service Guarantees plus up to 10-year extended warranty available • The installation – by one of our expert, Certified Technicians, to the highest safety and quality standards • Recycling of your old equipment safely and properly Here’s what one of our satisfied customers who made the call said: “The installation crew worked non-stop, in cramped conditions, to complete the job. They even cleaned up and took away all of the old obsolete parts and equipment, and took the time to answer my questions about the new furnace and air conditioner. Well done.” Paul M.

Don’t pass up this amazing deal, call 517-879-2049 by 11/30/15.

*Consumer Energy rebate may vary and is dependent on efficiency of furnace or air conditioning system. Promotion runs through 11/30/15. To take advantage of the discount offer, equipment must be purchased and installed by 11/30/15. This offer does not combine and is subject to change without notice at any time. **Rebate offer must be presented at time of sale. **energystar.gov Lic#71-00430
