Cover Story
T-bone Tom’s: The Real Deal By Rhonda Meredith T-Bone Tom’s gets it… Create a high energy atmosphere within a casual environment and serve good-sized portions of home-style food, steaks, seafood and world-class barbeque at affordable prices with a friendly, down-home smile. This strategy has worked well for the past 38 years. The restaurant’s namesake “T-Bone Tom” was a butcher and the owner of Kemah Meat Market in the late ’60s. He focused on quality meats and customer service. In a natural progression, the market expanded to include a restaurant and dining area where customers were treated like family and feasted like royalty. Those early traditions carry on today. Everything is still made from scratch. The unique flavors from the dry seasoning, the rib eye marinade, and the barbeque sauce are all from original recipes. T-Bone Tom’s continues to make their own smoked sausage and hand cut their steaks, which are all certified Angus beef. General Manager Anna Kennedy says, “No meat is ever frozen and side items like potato salad and cole slaw are prepared fresh each morning.” The weekday lunch special – or as some may call it “Comfort Food Heaven” – is of-

fered between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekdays. Chicken Fried Steak, Beef Tips and Noodles, Smothered Pork Chops, Southern Fried Chicken, and Southern Fried Catfish are featured on individual days. Come hungry! Hamburger Steak, an 8-ounce Prime Rib, Fried or Grilled Pork Chops, and All-UCan-Eat Ribs are on the weeknight dinner special rotation, and a new weekend dinner entree special was being decided on at press time. Rest assured your taste buds are going to love the new special! In the back of the restaurant’s building is the appropriately named “Tom’s Backyard.” It opens just in time for dinner at 5 p.m. sharp! This cool area is under a huge palapa structure, has ample seating and a stage that hosts live bands on Tuesday through Sunday evenings. Tom’s Backyard is a perfect place for an informal gathering. Be sure to order a round of T-Bone Tom’s famous Armadillo Eggs. This hearty appetizer starts with barbeque brisket inside a deseeded jalapeño pepper that’s fried and served with ranch dressing on the side. Just save room for Tom’s Choice Rib Eye. Their signature steak is sure to please even the most discerning steak lover! - Continued on Page 13

T-bone Tom’s: Continued from Page 10 Tom’s Backyard bar hosts “Happy Hour-and-a-Half” Monday through Friday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Enjoy your favorite beer, wine and mixed beverage. And if you are craving crawfish, this is a great place to get some. According to Kennedy, the restaurant prepares a "phenomenal amount" during the spring season. T-Bone Tom’s is one of the Bay Area’s treasures, no doubt, and it garnered national attention in November 2009 when a certain platinum, spiky-haired chef came to town. Food Network's Diners Drive-ins and Dives host Guy Fieri was on hand to enjoy what locals have savored for decades! A little piece of trivia that Kennedy shared is that the T-Bone Tom’s episode aired a year to the day the restaurant reopened after Hurricane Ike shut them down for two-and-a-half months! The staff at T-Bone Tom’s would love

BIG BEN TAVERN’S NEW MENU:
Authentic British Dishes and Expanded American Classics By Rhonda Meredith
on potato rolls.
Big Ben Tavern is celebrating their recent one year anniversary with a new menu. While keeping the traditional British pub style recipes, such as Fish 'n' Chips and Scotch Eggs, scattered among a more extensive menu of American dishes like the Elvis Burger with peanut butter and bacon and the Macaroni and Cheese jacket potatoes. The menu added several authentic British dishes like Cottage Pie made up of seasoned beef and vegetables topped with mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, and then baked, Bangers 'n' Mash with grilled sausage, mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley, and the English breakfast that consists of two eggs, sausage, English baked beans, and potatoes. Big Ben Tavern has expanded on American classics by offering more than the Big Ben Burger and Deep Fried Cheeseburger. The new burgers are the above mentioned Elvis style, the Asian influenced Shogun, Frito Pie, Pub Burger, Black and Blue, and the Italian inspired Pizziola. Sandwiches are anything but ordinary with the addition of Seared Tuna, Grilled Portabella and Chicken Fried Steak. Sweet potato fries may be substituted as a side item. Aside from the succulent burger choices, a wide range of appetizers, entrees like the new Shrimp Tacos and Tagliatelle Pasta with beef and mushroom sauce, pizza, and jacket potatoes are on the menu.
After a freshly prepared dinner and cold beverage, it’s time to think about dessert. Make sure you save some room for Deep Fried Oreos and Twinkies, Strawberry Cheesecake, Red Velvet Cake, and Honeybun Bread Pudding. It all sounds so delicious. Everything served at Big Ben Tavern is in a relaxed atmosphere of beer, spirits, and a cheery staff. Big Ben Tavern is located at 20237 Gulf Freeway in Webster. Their operating hours are Monday through Friday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Call 281-3329820 for more information. On Saturday, April 28, Big Ben Tavern is hosting Jason Danford’s Crawfish Party. Danford is known for his yearly crawfish event. This is his second year to host his event at Big Ben. To Danford and friends: Cheers! The tavern will be open as usual during the hours of this party.

BIG BEN
The “starters” on the menu feature an interesting mix of cultural influences and represent a culinary diversity. The new items such as crispy tempura fried Calamari topped with a spicy Asian glaze, Fried Dumplings and bacon-wrapped Shrimp are available along with Edamamae or three-cheese Mac 'n' Cheese. Added to the mild, medium and spicy wings choices, Big Ben now offers Parmesan Wings. For a group, order Nachos or savor the three beef Sliders with caramelized onions and goat cheese served
The tavern offers a wide variety of toppings to choose from for their jacket potatoes. Pick Cream Cheese, Mushroom and Parsley, Beans and Cheese, Ham and Cheese or Macaroni and Cheese.

Featured Artist: Shelley Shanks Lockwood
Mixed Media Master
Painting people, pelicans, and even petroleum industry rigs, Shelley Shanks Lockwood’s artist palette is definitely a mixed medium. Her passion for painting captivated her since early childhood. Shelley said her gift for painting “easily flowed and gave (her) an identity.” Her innate talent provided her a commissioned job painting the mural for a night club at the young age of 12. Since then, Shelley paints portraits, abstracts, murals and more in a variety of styles using acrylics, oils and watercolors; each style exhibiting her unique use of color and texture.
spent time on an oil rig capturing the crew and daily work activities. According to the artist, the collaboration includes combining the composition of her paintings with the photographic images by Santos. The multimedia collection, appropriately titled, Energesis creates “narratives of the rigs.” Shelley previously sold many paintings to energy corporations such as Exxon in an effort to pay homage to those that “give the world the energy it needs in order to function.” Her works hang in offices and galleries around the world.
Chelsea Wine Bar, located in El Lago, currently displays a superb showcase of Shelley’s work. Most of the pub’s walls are adorned with whimsical and lavish Impressionistic murals inspired by Paul Gauguin. There are also many panels displaying her fine art pieces lending more authenticity to the Old-World feel of the restaurant-bar.
Shelley’s ambition and creative skills drive her to work every angle from commercial and corporate commissions, people and pet portraits to live art shows and workshops. At one live art show, Shelley was asked to paint from a photo on a cell Shelley working on Energesis, her collaboraphone. Her as- tive project with artist Sergio Santos sured reply was of course, “I can do it.” Shelley has never believed in the term “starving artist.” She blended her love of art and desire to succeed into a lucrative niche.
Shelley’s artistic ability and her admiration for the Bay Area appear around town in the form of pelicans. She assisted with the Pelican Path Project painting the Texans football pelican for Hooter’s and the Holiday Inn Express’ traveling pelican carrying a suitcase full of fish. Shelley said her kids actually helped her come up with that idea after she had asked them, “What would a pelican take on vacation?” Shelley continued to work on the Pelican project in order to restore many of the pieces after Hurricane Ike.
Her passion for art is only matched by her love of family and philanthropy. The mother of four, has become a champion for children’s rights through her work with several child advocacy groups. Shelley also donates paintings to fundraising events for organizations such as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Shade of Hope and the Fodice Foundation. To view more of Shelley’s art, activism and workshop schedule visit her website www.shelleyshanks.com or visit her facebook page The Artist Shelley Shanks.
Most recently, Shelley, in collaboration with photographer Sergio Santos, showed off her artistic eye for the oil and gas industry in the 2012 PhotoFest. The two artists

Weekends on the Water
A Special Guide To CLEAR LAKE & GALVESTON About the Clear Lake/Bay Area: Located midway between the skyscrapers of Houston and the beaches of Galveston, the NASA, Clear Lake/Bay Area is a unique area featuring the home of manned space flight and the third largest boating market in the nation. Although big city excitement and island beaches are each just minutes away, the Clear Lake/Bay Area has been described as the “Jewel of Houston” and is full of attractions of its own. Boating activities and water recreation provide hours of fun and relaxation in the presence
of the water's natural beauty. Surrounded by water, the land is fertile and offers lush foliage including many evergreen trees and plants. In addition to the area’s natural beauty, technology and history are woven together at the Johnson Space Center, where our nation's astronauts are trained and each manned space flight is monitored. The facility offers an official visitors center, better known as Space Center Houston. This area is also home to a surprisingly high number of quality restaurants, bars, clubs and pubs – including many overlooking the water and accessible via boat. Clear Lake is also a live music lover’s paradise with more than 40 venus offering live performances on a regular basis. The Clear Lake/Bay Area is also geared toward families with a number of amusement parks, game facilities and family festivals.

HEALD BANK REGATTA SCHEDULED FOR Upcoming Calendar WEEKEND OF APRIL 21-22 Lakewood Yacht Club Race Committee Chairman Gerhard Wittich has announced that this year’s Heald Bank Regatta has been scheduled for the weekend of April 2122. This race, which is open to the public, is held offshore in the Gulf of Mexico starting at the Galveston jetties, marker 11. The race begins on Saturday afternoon and finishes early Sunday morning. Spinnaker boats will sail a triangle course of approximately 90 nautical miles while the non-spinnaker boats will sail a two legs reaching course of approximately 60 nautical miles. “This should be one of the most fun nights of racing that one can experience offshore south of Galveston,” related Wittich. “It is also a good warm up for the longer distance races held later on in the Gulf such as the new Galveston to Gulfport Race planned for May 25 - 31 and our popular Harvest Moon Regatta coming up October 25 - 28,” he added. Race Sponsorship Chair Joan Medland-Steuwe announced that Bay Access is the sponsor of the Heald Bank. Bay Access is a not-forprofit organization created to foster amateur racing. Race Committee Co-Chairman Jack Seitzenger also added that racers should know that PHRF certificates are not required for the cruisers class. There is a mandatory Skippers meeting on Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. in the Chart Room Lakewood Yacht Club, 2425 NASA Parkway in Seabrook. Trophies for this race will be presented at the Sea Lake Yacht Sales Shoe Regatta Awards Ceremony which will be held the evening of Sun. May 20. To register for the Heald Bank Regatta, please go to Lakewood’s website at www.lakewoodyachtclub.com Or, for questions, one can call the club’s office at 281-474-2511. The 2012 season of the Wednesday Night Sailboat Races has begun! The weekly event that stretches from April to October is organized by the Clear Lake Racing Association and the host venue is Villa Capri in Seabrook. But great views can be enjoyed all along the northern shore of Clear Lake. Enjoy!

LAKEWOOD RACERS SWEEP J/105 MID-WINTERS At the national J/105 Mid-Winter Championship Regatta held in March on Galveston Bay, Lakewood Yacht Club racers won the top four trophies. Dominating three days of challenging weather conditions in Galveston Bay, Bill Zartler’s J/105 “Solaris” led the pack in most every race. “Our racing philosophy is to keep the boat moving forward and fast,” explained Zartler. “That is the most important thing.” Zartler also said that his team had the advantage of crewing together for a long time in all kinds of weather, all over the country. His crew was Chris Lewis, wife Angie Zartler, Gustavo Escobar, Cynthia Powell and Heidi Kennedy on Friday. Kennedy was injured and replaced with Melissa Denman for the rest of the races. “Solaris” placed first in five of the seven races held on Galveston Bay. Coming in second in the J/105 Championship Regatta was Bill Lakenmacher on “Radiance”; third was Uzi Ozeri on “Infinity”, and in fourth place was Alan Bates on “Zippity”. There were 12 J/105 boat teams from all over the country competing in the Mid-Winters from as far away as Bermuda, New York, and the Chesapeake Bay. “With winds up to 25 knots and rain during the first day of the regatta, it was survival of the fittest situation,” admitted racer Ozeri. In the past, the J/105 Class Association held the Mid-Winter Regatta in Key West, but the local J/105 Fleet under the leadership of Lakewood member Bill Lakenmacher, convinced the association to give us a try. “The racers were very happy, in fact tickled pink, with the regatta,” explained Lakenmacher, “so they will be back next year.”

2ND ANNUAL ICM FUN RUN IN APRIL Interfaith Caring Ministries (ICM) announced its 2nd Annual 5K Fun Run and Walk “Striding for Self-Sufficiency.” The event will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 14 starting and finishing at ICM’s food pantry and administration offices (located at 151 Park Ave., League City). A “Kids K” for those 12 and under will also be held with all children receiving a ribbon. Early registration is $25 for the 5K and $10 for the Kids K. Each participant will receive a T-shirt. With almost 200 participants, and through generous community support, the inaugural event was a great success. Proceeds in 2012 will once again benefit ICM’s on-going services which assist local families who are in an economic crisis due to issues such as illness and unemployment. To access online registration, or an offline form, visit www.icmtx.org. ICM is also seeking volunteers and sponsors. TRAVIS FRICKER Benefit @ Cabo Community members gathered in March to help raise $7600 for Cabo staff member Travis Fricker. In February, Fricker suffered a bleeding stroke on his brain. Doctors performed emergency surgery to remove a portion of his skull and by doing so, saved his life. Fricker is partially paralyzed on the left side and his cognitive skills are impaired. He is an in patient at a rehab center in Galveston. Bills for his care continue mounting for his family. Monetary donations are still appreciated. The $7600 will get Fricker one additional week of rehab. To help, checks can be made out to Travis Fricker and dropped off at Cabo during business hours.

RAILEAN RUM KEEPS IT LOCAL By Rhonda Meredith Kelly Railean is in high spirits at the Eagle Point Distillery in San Leon. RAILEAN® Handcrafted American Rum™ recently became the first and only rum certified "MADE in USA" in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission requirements under federal law. And that wasn’t an easy journey even though it reads like a Cinderella story. Railean Distillers LLC was established in 2005. The following year, Railean constructed the first and only distillery in the Houston/Galveston vicinity. In 2007, they manufactured small batches of specialty, handcrafted rum utilizing Grade-A, unsulfured molasses in state-of-the-art distillery equipment. RAILEAN® White Rum Ultra Premium, Reserve XO Ultra Premium, and Small Cask Single Barrel were all created with unique recipes and to this day is personally tasted by Railean herself. In 2010, a 100% Blue Agave Sprit called El Perico was successfully launched and quickly became yet another customer favorite. Railean was very aware of the popular resurgence in the U.S. of buying American made products. It was always her vision to re-establish the American rum industry in the USA and business goal to become certified “100% Made In The USA.” Qualifying for the MADE in USA CERTIFIED® / USA-C™ Seal signifies that a manufactured product has gone through a rigorous auditing and certification process to confirm that the product was manufactured in the United States of America, using U.S. labor, and that each component of the product was manufactured in the U.S.
THE SCENE
More importantly, this seal assures consumers that the "Made in USA" claim is true; keeping consumers safe, giving consumers' peace of mind, and helping to support and promote products made in U.S.A. You now have a choice between purchasing imported mass produced rum or RAILEAN® Handcrafted American Rum™ that is distilled, bottled, and labeled on a local street by a local resident and can be bought in local stores. Kelly Railean can even usually accommodate a request to sign rum bottles purchased from the local liquor stores. It makes a great gift. Make an appointment to come take a tour of the distillery to see and taste for yourself. Contact Kelly Railean at 713-5452742 or send an email to info@Railean.com. A tour includes the bubbly Railean explaining how she got into the distilling business, a discussion on fermentation, distillation theory and operation of the still, dark versus white rum, spirits distilled from agave including a discussion on Tequila, barrel aging and the bottling process.
42
The tour will definitely open your eyes to the work, tender loving care, and countless hours that are poured into literally handcrafting each bottle. It’s very informative and highly recommended. For individuals of legal drinking age, each type of RAILEAN spirit can be tasted in half-ounce servings. The cost is only $3 per person and $5 to keep the tasting shot glass. Eagle Point Distillery is located at 341 5th Street in San Leon, just 4 blocks south of the intersection of FM 646 & FM 517. Keep it local, and buy American!

For eight years, Scout Bar has rocked the Bay Area with many of the best and brightest local and regional talent as well as major national and international touring acts. Performing during April are the always fun party band The Spazmatics, tribute bands honoring Metallica, Alice In Chains, Ozzy, and Led Zeppelin, and national acts like American alternative rockers Janus, Canadian female heavy metal band Kittie, Hollywood rapper Mickey Avalon, Italian gothic rock band Lacuna Coil, alternative Southern rappers Nappy Roots, and Swedish power metal band Sabaton.
8-Year SCOUT BAR Anniversary Party: Saturday, April 14 w/Silk Knives, Soul In Tension, Parabelle, ERASETHEVIRUS and The Hunger. Scout Bar uses a 40-channel Yamaha console that has increased mixing options and the latest digital speaker processing provided by DBX to tune the system. Goldman also notes that “separate electrical feeds for stage, lighting, and amplifier rack power avoids power issues and is absolutely necessary for national acts.”
Scout Bar, in association with Houston radio station 94.5 “The Buzz” hosts The Texas Buzz show every Sunday night. Three bands, either local or based in Texas, are showcased. Occasionally there may be an out of state guest on the bill. This month, you can check out Hounds of Jezebel, Abolition Formula, Six Gun Sound, Burn Halo, South, and The Hectic. There is never a cover charge for The Texas Buzz Show.

On alternating Thursday nights, Scout Bar boasts an “Acoustic All-Star Jam” that has the members of several of the area’s most popular bands performing acoustic sets and then a “Reggae Night” hosted by singer/songwriter Marc Borde. Mark your calendar for the “8-Year Anniversary Party” on Saturday, April 14. This epic event has performances from Silk Knives, Soul In Tension, Parabelle, ERASETHEVIRUS, with The Hunger headlining. It’s a free entry with an invitation for those 21+. Stop by the venue to get yours! On April 20, the “4/20 Show” has local bands Saturate, I.D.R., Fallacy, Rainchild confirmed at press time. Scout Bar’s lighting and sound equipment have been designed to give patrons the ultimate experience. Edwin Goldman, Scout Bar’s lead Front Of House (FOH) engineer and production manager, installed the systems eight years ago and has been maintaining and striving to improve it since then. “The audio system is powered by more than 20,000 watts delivered by Crown Amplifier,” he said. We wanted a low end response that would be felt as much as heard so we installed 4 JBL dual 18-inch subwoofers.”

the scene’s martini madness “CABO-tini” – A signature martini when one is A.W.O.L. Yes, please! The rich and intense flavor of ABSOLUT RASPBERRI vodka is fused with the fresh and fruity character of ABSOLUT APEACH vodka and blended with DEKUYPER’s Blue Curacao orange liqueur for a very potent start to a cool-looking drink potion. Add a little sweet and sour and shake, then pour into a glass. Splash a little Sprite into it and garnish with an orange slice. “BARBIE COSMO” – Drink one of these, and you will surely forget about Ken! It’s a great companion drink when hanging out and watching the awesome band Mama Tried perform each Monday night or grooving to the energy of Big Richard who is on stage every Tuesday night. The mellow flavor of ABSOLUT MANDARIN vodka is mixed with Malibu’s Caribbean rum that has a natural coconut flavor, splashes of pineapple and cranberry juice perfect the taste. Take the liquid love, give it a shake. Barbie likes it a little rough, then a gentle pour. Garnish with a big juicy cherry.

Reports are that Jackie's has recently passed Gilhooley's as the largest restaurant/bar business in Galveston County. Wow... We've more on Jackie's in this issue so we'll stick with the live music and Madigan. In the past, we've mentioned this band's big sound, super lights, power and energetic delivery but failed to mention their fans. Shame on us... Madigan fans are amazing and *everywhere*, dancing and partying through the sets as well as during intermission -- A ferociously fun bunch! Madigan @ Jackie's Brickhouse Scout Bar this month was exceptionally good. A.D. Rowntree and the 94.5FM Texas Buzz night scored well with SIXL6 and Dreaming SIXL6 @ Scout Bar from California. Their tunes hinted of – according to local critics – Led Zeppelin, Robin Trower, AC/DC and *early* ZZ Top, and Little Feat. The good stuff... We followed up Rhonda Merideth's feature last month checking out Orgy returning to the stage after a seven-year hiatus and so did folks from all over Houston. Other headlines we caught included Born From Ruins and a fully locked and loaded Saturate at the annual St. Patricks Day blow-out. We've come to the conclusion these guys have a great bunch of loyal fans, and why not? Saturate gives it their all each every night they take the stage. Great varieties, great shows, and here in our back
Off 146 and west on NASA Road One, sisters Melissa and Elizabeth never cease to amaze at Signature Bistro. We've been going there for over a year and had mostly different eats each time and each time's consistently excellent. This rainy night, we enjoyed the (humongous) crab cakes and decompressed with jazz flamenco guitarist/vocalist Dalton Wheeler and his silky tenor pipes along with Christine Gietzen swooning numbers off the classy jazzy list. Aside from the splendid food, fine service and great music, every patron you meet at Signature Bistro is always perched on the content to Dalton & Christine gregarious side of life (a.k.a. great @ Signature Bistro mojo). The rains kept coming, so further west on NASA Road One we went for an evening at Mediterraneo. The credentials here include entertainers from around the world partaking of the fine eats and so did we. Going with our monster servings of Paella Valenciana was Micky Hobbs on the stage and two sets of Belly Dancing, complete with mesmerizing magic. Mediterraneo always has a nice crowd and super service. Thinking of traveling to the Mediterranean and can't get away? Mediterraneo works... Twas *perfect* in volume, tone, clarity and ambience with not one amplifier needed whatsoever. Cheers to the cast and company at RAFA! -- Proof 2012 is a great year! THE DROUGHT'S OVER? - And in typical Gulf Coast fashion, we caught up in just a few days giving us a the perfect window to enjoy a few of the SCENE's great indoor venues. And so we Season Ammons @ T-Bone Tom's venture up 146 and east on Main Street into La Porte and stopped in for our first time at Mainly Drinks. JACKIE’S BRICKHOUSE: “The Place to Be” By Rhonda Meredith The age-old question is “What do you feel like doing?” Do you want to watch a game, play pool, eat some crawfish, and/or listen to some music? Stop the insanity, and ask the right question, “Do you want to go to Jackie’s Brickhouse? There is something there for everyone. The original idea behind Jackie’s Brickhouse was to open a friendly bar that served brick oven pizza. The opportunity to purchase an existing business in the same location presented itself, and the rest is history said General Manager John Barrera with a laugh. “This has truly exceeded what was envisioned.” But that was then, and this is now. Jackie’s Brickhouse has turned into a point of destination in Kemah for food, games and entertainment for the entire family.
sold during this season alone.
Lunch starts at 11 a.m., and the menu offers a variety to choose from. Jackie’s staff would love to see your smile of satisfaction after eating one of their daily lunch specials, a slice of brick oven pizza or their famous crawfish. Don’t fret if you can’t go for lunch, Jackie’s Brickhouse takes care of you through dinner as the kitchen stays open late. (If you can’t get out, click www.lets-eat.com food delivery service and order a pizza, burgers, or hot dogs, and have it brought to you.)
Now, as far as Happy Hour is concerned, let’s just say that somewhere the wires got crossed, because Happy Hour at Jackie’s Brickhouse goes on for hours. Drink specials start every day at 11 a.m. and go until 7 p.m. during most of the week. On the weekends Happy Hour is until 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, there are three bars open with something special at each one.
The weekly happenings include cornhole tournaments on Monday nights with pint and pizza specials. Jackie’s scrumptious pizza is made from scratch and the pints just might improve your gaming skills. On Tuesday nights, it’s time to channel your inner rock-ness and partake in “Krazy Ass Karaoke” with Mama Cass. A 10-week contest began in March and will continue until late May with the weekly winners competing for a $1000 grand prize.
If you feel like you just want to party, then Jackie’s has become “the place to be.” Jackie’s hosts many of the biggest and hottest bands in the Houston area. The venue is vibrant on Friday and Saturday nights with a packed dance floor. It’s crazy to think what Jackie’s Brickhouse started out to be and what it has become in such a short time. Barrera said, “We cater to our customers and listen to as many of their suggestions as possible. We love our locals at Jackie’s Brickhouse and have a huge loyal following. Bottom line: We want everyone to be a regular.”
A new feature was introduced on Wednesday nights. “Ladies Night” combines margarita and wine specials with the added thrill of shopping! Local vendors have been invited in to offer different things such as pole fitness techniques and classes, hair styling tips, custom clothing, costume jewelry and much more. Elsewhere in the venue, there is a pool tournament and, of course, live music. Thursday night at Jackie’s has become one of the biggest nights in the area. “Party on the Palapa” starts at 4 p.m. with entertainment from 5 to 9p.m. outside under the Palapa and 8 p.m. to midnight inside on the main stage. It’s also “Big Ass Beer and Crawfish” night. It’s rumored that over 2500 pounds of crawfish have been

Besides food and drinks, Barrera said, “We also thrive on a little friendly competition in the game room. It’s our customer’s choice to try their skill with Golden Tee, bowling, pool, shuffleboard, and an assortment of other games.” It’s worth mentioning the 25 plasma TVs to watch your favorite sporting events.
“We have truly become an entertainment complex with something for everyone,” he added. “Our entire staff works hard to make your visit an enjoyable one. Jackie, our owner, is very proactive and supportive of our family at Jackie’s Brickhouse. We are always striving to make things bigger and better.”
