Last of an era plays homage to an icon Corvette has been America’s sports car since its inception 60 years ago. Six decades and six generations later, Corvette still reigns supreme on America’s highways. In 1953, the inaugural Corvettes hit the streets with a 235 cubic-inch 150hp engine and by 1962, a 327 was bolted in for power. During the muscle car era of the ’60s, 1966 saw a 7.0-liter, 427-ci big-block engine strapped in the “Stingray,” accommodated by a bulging hood. Commemorating that iconic power plant and 60 years of Corvette fun and excitement, the 2013 Corvette line-up includes a 427 Convertible Collector Edition to highlight the final year of the C-6 (sixth-generation Corvette) as the C7 will begin its run in the 2014 model year. The 427 Convertible Collector Edition blends elements of the Z06 and ZR1 models to create the fastest convertible in Corvette’s history. Its heart is the 427cubic-inch (7.0-liter) LS7 engine from the Corvette Z06. Rated at 505 horsepower and 470 lbs.-ft. of torque, it is the most powerful engine ever installed in a production Corvette convertible – and, like the Z06, the 427 Convertible is only available with a six-speed manual transmission.

Awesome power-to-weight ratio Less weight often translates to better performance, so the 427 Convertible features several carbon-fiber components that help reduce weight, including a carbon fiber raised hood, Z06-style fenders, floor panels, and optional carbon fiber front splitter and rocker panels. The weight reduction brings the 427 Convertible’s curb weight to 3,355 lbs., which helps give the 505-hp 427 Convertible a power-
