BROKER
Wolf is not just your average Broker halfblood. The stoutness and unparalleled look has made him a stand out from birth. The key is his JSAR Angus dam. She is a Vixon that comes directly from our stoutest 765 ET set of females that are identically bred to past Bull Test high performers and ADG winners. WOLF’s dam was our high-selling bred female in our 2011 Angus Sale and line bred Vixon 765. The Vixon cow family originally had a mix of Fink and Griswold Genetics. Owned with Marty Rusk Family, Kansas

MCF Beau’s Full Brother, MCF Bohannon, 46th National Champion Charolais Bull. Currently all of Bohannon’s calf crop remains undefeated in class at all shows. This is how this feed supplement works … the superior science of FRESH & FEMININE™ features a combination of strategic vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants and a high concentration of by-pass protein sources. This chemistry boosts metabolic fat burning in the body that targets specific areas of the body to reduce fat content, most notably in the neck and brisket area. The animal has a more feminine, attractive physique and even moves better. This helps to offset the results seen from aggressive, high energy show cattle diets. All natural and fertility safe for open heifers, bred heifers, steers and bulls. Simply top dress 6 oz. per head per day of this pelleted supplement on your current ration until desired freshness has been achieved.
Available January 10, 2016.

“Since I have used EatMoor™ with great success to increase feed consumption of our show stock, this fall I started using EatMoor with weaning/receiving calves. The results were incredible! The calves went to feed faster and consumed more feed immediately! Along with going on feed faster and at a higher rate, this year’s group, while on EatMoor, also stayed healthier and bloomed much quicker than calves in previous years! The increased consumption, health, bloom, and increased body depth helped the cattle look their best much quicker than in the past! This is always a benefit whether we’re raising, showing, or selling livestock!” —Shea Geffert, La Valle, WI

Leading a Legacy Historical Barber Ranch’s winning tradition continues.
By Katrina Huffstutler
I
t’s the Friday before Thanksgiving, a time when most start reflecting on all they’re thankful for this year. The Barber family’s list is long.
Just the day before, Terri Barber topped the Hereford show with the grand champion bull at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky, while Rylee Barber showed the reserve champion female. And a little more than one week earlier, Barber Ranch’s annual bull sale was a tremendous success, boasting an $8,615 average.
married in the late 1960s and planned to reside in San Saba, where Dale would practice veterinary medicine with a classmate. But Mary’s father’s health began to fail and they decided to move to the ranch full-time in 1970. In 1973, Dale and Mary bought the herd, thus starting today’s Barber Ranch. “I’d always just been crazy about the cows,” Mary says, “and while Dale had grown up raising commercial cattle he discovered he really liked the registered side once he was exposed to it.”
But show winners and sale toppers are nothing new to the Channing, Texas, based seedstock operation, nor are they the only things to be for which to be grateful.
And his veterinary degree was a perfect fit — with 300 horned and polled Hereford cows on the operation, Dale’s vast animal health knowledge comes in handy every day.
Perhaps the biggest gift is still operating a ranch that has been in the family for 111 years and beating the odds as a seedstock operation for 65 of them.
“He uses every one of those hours of coursework,” Mary says. “And the contacts he has in the field are invaluable.” Today’s Barber Ranch
“It’s beyond spectacular, actually,” Mary Barber says, trying to put into words what it means to still live on the ranch where she grew up, raising the cattle she loves. Historically Hereford Mary’s grandfather, James Benjamin Brown, started the Panhandle ranch in 1904. Originally a commercial Hereford and farming operation, he ran commercial cows but bought registered bulls. Purebred cows were introduced in 1950 and soon after, all commercial cattle were phased out. While Mary was in college, the young cattlewoman met Dale Barber through a mutual friend. Dale had grown up on a commercial Hereford operation in San Saba, Texas, before attending Texas A&M University, where he completed veterinary school and became an officer in the Air Force. The two
Dale and Mary have four children: Brett, agricultural sciences teacher at Dumas FFA, who will join the ranch full-time in May, lives on the ranch with his children Rylee, Bryden and Aidyn; Terri, a sales consultant for Elanco Animal Health who resides in New Mexico; and twins Justin and Jason. Justin is involved with all facets of the ranch’s activities. He and his wife, Jenna, a veterinarian, live on the ranch and have twin girls, Henley and Beckett. Jason and his wife, Jaci, live in Fort Worth, where he manages the purebred division of Superior Livestock. They have a son, Bode. Mary says having all of the family involved in the operation in one way or another is more rewarding that she can put into words. She adds that everyone is needed, too. “We’re revving up our embryo program and trying to increase our numbers and quality and the depth of quality,” she says. “And it’s going to take everybody to keep all
that going.” She says extensive artificial insemination as well as embryo transplant is utilized to produce genetics that are consistently at the forefront of the Hereford industry. Barber Ranch bloodlines can be seen throughout pedigrees all over North America, and these genetics have been prominent in the winner’s circle at all national Hereford stock shows. Barber Ranch was a pioneer in integrating both horned and polled Hereford genetics together and producing pedigrees with popularity around the time the two breed associations merged in the 1990s. To this day they still believe in blending the best of both horned and polled genetics together to produce the best product. Barber Ranch also seeks fresh genetics constantly. And though both the Barber family and their customers have consistently made it to the backdrop at the nation’s largest and most prestigious stock shows for years, Mary says it’s important to note they were no overnight success. “When Brett and Terri were young and we started attending junior nationals, you had to place at least sixth in your class to get a ribbon,” she explains. “Let me tell you what: We had several long drives home because we didn’t get any ribbons. People think we just walked in and just started showing and was competitive just overnight. Believe me that isn’t the way it was. We paid a lot of dues for a lot of years.” Blazing a Trail “You know, Terri and Rylee were the only two Barbers in Louisville,” Mary says. I could almost feel her beaming with pride as she said it. Though any mom would be proud of her daughter and granddaughter following in her footsteps, there’s a special meaning for Mary, who led the way for women showing Herefords.

“When I first started getting involved, there weren’t any women. It was all men,” she says. That was never more obvious than in Denver.
Mary explains there was always a herdsman banquet during the National Western Stock Show during the early 1970s and while she was technically the ranch’s herdsman, she couldn’t attend because she was a woman. Likewise, there were no women in the show ring. “Women just did not do that back then,” she says. “It was quite a bit different than what it is right now.” Fast forward to 1993, when Mary became the breed’s first female Herdsman of the Year. “It was really something,” she says. “I don’t remember if we had cattle on the hill at that point or not but we had some down in the yard. A few people dragged me up on the hill during the show for me to receive the award. I thought I was literally going to pass out!” Another big honor was winning the first-ever National Hereford Woman of the Year award 10 years earlier in 1983. “It was such a surprise because I was never involved with the Hereford Women (she was, however, a past president of the Texas Hereford Auxiliary). I would get too jealous being in meetings when I really wanted to be in the show ring or washing and shoveling,” she says with a laugh.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to go to Kansas City to receive the award in person, as she’d just had twin boys. Earlier that year, when she had to turn down the opportunity to judge a National Hereford Show because she was pregnant, Bud Snidow said that was definitely the first time that reason had been given. But she got another chance — Mary judged the show with Terri in 2013.
Earlier this year, Terri became the first woman to serve as vice president of the American Hereford Association. She’s also the first to serve on their board. Terri says it’s so meaningful to her, not only as the first woman but joining other third- and fourth- generation producers who are staying in the business and serving the association in a leadership capacity. “It’s an overwhelming honor for me to be able to serve on that board and to have the respect of our fellow breeders in the United States,” she says, adding that much credit goes to her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. “I definitely wouldn’t be where I’m at without my family’s hard work and generations of being in the Hereford business. It’s all attributed to them and growing up in it, obviously,” she says. And the speech that help get her elected to the board? It’s still talked about all these years later. “I got up there and said, ‘It’s a tremen-
dous honor to be nominated and to run for the board. I’ve been a part of this industry since my first breath. I was the daughter of a tough Texas rancher and her husband, Dale.’ It brought the house down.” She says growing up in the show ring — and continuing now — has not only been a great way of life, but also been invaluable to their business. “We’re in a remote area and it’s allowed us to be able to go to centralized areas where we can compare our cattle against other cattle all over the U.S.,” she says. “To be able to exceed or do as well as we have in the show ring really propels our program up to the forefront because even though we’re located in the Texas panhandle, our cattle are as competitive as any in the country. It’s really allowed us to expand on our marketing and promotion abilities by going to these shows. We’re really grateful for the opportunity to promote and showcase our program and we feel very honored to be where we are today.” And even if they weren’t winning, Mary says it’d still be worth it to show cattle. “I see people all get all wound up,” she says. “If they don’t win, then it wasn’t worth the effort. All you can do is have that animal look its best on that particular day. If it isn’t what the judge is looking for, you’ve still done your part. I don’t think anybody needs to beat themselves up if they went to show and they didn’t win. I don’t think you can really appreciate winning if you haven’t been down the line a time or two.”

“Rules of Thumb”
PROFESSOR TO PRODUCER
GATE CUTS
Bullet Points Regarding DGS As A Cattle Feedstuff By Dr. Paul Walker, Professor Emeritus
F
irst let me compliment Travis Meteer on an excellent article in the last issue of Illinois Beef. More producers should utilize the information presented by Travis.
The content of this article has been shared in previous columns, but due to the number of telephone calls I have received recently these “rules of thumb” may need reconsideration. Most of the information in this article is based on observations of research conducted at Illinois State University prior to my retirement.
- Dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) are usually too expensive for inclusion in beef cattle diets. - High moisture distiller’s grains with solubles (DGS) vary in water content. - Wet DGS contains more than 60% moisture, usually only 30-40- dry matter (DM). - Modified wet DGS contains less than 60% moisture, usually 50-60 DM. - DDGS and DGS vary in crude fat (CF) content sometimes referred to as high fat DGS (HFDGS) and reduced fat DGS (RFDGS). - Condensed distillers solubles (CDS) is the syrup or stillage that is added to distiller’s grains to produce DDGS or DGS. - Ethanol plants centrifuge (spin) the CDS to remove some of the fat prior to adding CDS to distillers grains. - CDS is a liquid, containing 30 to 40% DM and can be fed as a feedstuff by itself, as part of DGS or as part of a total mixed ration (TMR). - DDGS, DGS, and CDS contain relatively low calcium (0.20%), high phosphorous (0.40-0.80%) and high sulfur (0.20-0.80%) contents on a dry matter basis. - RFDGS generally contains between 5.0% and 8.0% CF on a DM basis. - HFDGS generally contains between 10.0% and 12.0% CF on a DM basis. - CDS contains about one fourth the amount of crude fiber (NDF and ADF) on a DM basis as DDGS or DGS. - Most diets containing CDS, DGS, or DDGS must have added calcium to maintain a Ca/P ratio between 1.2:1 to 2.1.
120 January/February 2016 • theshowcircuit.com
- DGS and corn gluten feed (CGF) are not synonymous products. - Compared to DGS, CGF contains less protein and less energy on a DM basis. - CGF is more efficacious in growing diets. - DGS is more efficacious in finishing diets. - Feeding CGF and DGS may reduce bloat and lactic acidosis compared to shelled corn in feeder cattle diets, especially in receiving diets. - The greatest biological efficiency (lb. of gain to lbs. of feed required) occurs around 25% DGS dietary inclusion (DM basis.) - The greatest economic efficiency (least cost: lb. of gain) occurs around 40% to 45% DGS dietary inclusion (DM basis). - Modified wet DGS can be fed up to 70% inclusion (DM basis). - DGS inclusion at 70% of DM equals greater economic efficiency than 0% DGS inclusion. - As dietary inclusion of high moisture DGS increases so does average daily feed intake (ADFI). - As dietary inclusion of HFDGS increases above 40%, dry matter intake (DMI) decreases. - As dietary inclusion of RFDGS increases above 40%, DMI increases. - Expect similar average daily gain (ADG) regardless of DGS inclusion rate. - Compared to control diets HFDGS improves feed efficiency (G : F ratio) more than RFDGS. - Performance of cattle fed RFDGS differs from cattle fed HFDGS especially at 70% inclusion. - At 70% inclusion RFDGS may decrease G : F ratio. - Dietary inclusion of modified wet DGS at 40% of DM regardless of fat content (HFDGS or RFDGS), has little effect on carcass characteristics. - At 70% dietary inclusion RFDGS and HFDGS have a tendency to lower quality grade. - CDS inclusion at 20% of dietary DM has no effect on DMI, ADG, and G : F. - CDS inclusion at 40% of dietary DM may reduce DMI and increase G : F. - CDS inclusion has no effect on carcass characteristics. - CDS, RFDGS, and HFDGS at 40% inclusion or less, result in similar quality grades as 0% by-product inclusion. - CDS, RFDGS, and HFDGS has little effect on meat shelf life. - RFDGS and HFDGS dietary inclusion increase PUFA, PUFA/SFA and 06 fatty acids in beef tallow. - Limit feeding RFDGS, HFDGS, or HFCDS to beef cows in late gestation and early lactation up to 58% of the diet DM will not negatively affect cow body weight and body condition score nor will it effect calf birth weight or dystocia. - Feeding RFDGS above 43% of diet DM may decrease cow milk production and may decrease first service conception rates. - Limit feeding RFDGS up to 58% of the diet DM will not alter ADFI or daily DMI of beef cows. - Limit feeding RFDGS at 25%, 43%, or 58% of the diet DM costs less per day than supplementing with shelled corn and soybean meal. - Limit feeding beef cows RFDGS at 25% of diet DM costs less per day than supplementing with 43% or 58% RFDGS. - HFDGS may reduce cow daily DMI when limit feeding beef cows corn silage based diets containing 20% RFDGS, HFDGS, or HFCDS. - Supplementing beef cows with HFCDS may increase milk production compared to HFDGS or RFDGS when supple mented at 20% of DM. The take-home message from this research is whether modified wet distiller’s grains contain higher fat (10-12%) or lower fat (5-8%), we can successfully feed finishing steers up to 70% of the diet dry matter as DGS without greatly compromising the outcomes. How much DGS is fed may depend on the amount of roughage included in the diets. All the finishing diets in the studies conducted at ISU included 15% corn silage or ground grass hay on a dry matter basis. The secret to facilitating the dietary inclusion of DGS above 50% of the diet dry matter may be maintaining at least 15% roughage on dry matter basis within the diet. All things evaluated, 40 to 45% DGS inclusion may be the most efficacious inclusion level, but depending on feedlot performance, total feed costs and degree of management expertise, 70% DGS may return the most dollars over feed costs if the price is right. And, modified wet DGS is almost always more efficacious than DDGS. Regarding the inclusion of ethanol by-products in beef cow diets, limiting DGS or CDS inclusion to 20 – 25% of the diet DM may be the most efficacious. Including DGS above 25% of the diet DM may reduce daily feed costs but the greatest economic efficiency for beef cows occurs when DGS is limited to 25% or less of the diet DM. Abbreviations: PUFA = polyunsaturated fatty acid, SFA = saturated fatty acid, 06 = omega six, ADFI = average daily feed intake, DMI = dry matter intake. Editors Note: If you have questions about this topic, please feel free to contact Dr. Walker at 309-963-4913, pwalker@ilstu.edu or 578 Old Peoria Rd, Danvers, IL 61732

Is That An OCD I See? By: Dr. Clint Shireman, Dr. Aaron Slater and Dr. Gary Warner
As veterinarians, we hear the same complaint - the issue of swollen, puffy hocks and popping pasterns. It doesn’t matter what species it is –cattle, pigs, or goats - there is an increase in the incidence of this problem. As showmen and producers, we all understand hock swelling is a frustrating condition that leaves us scratching our heads. In light of all the upcoming shows and sales, once again, we feel it is important that we discuss swollen hocks - osteochondrosis dissecans (OCD) lesions in veterinary terminology - to give you, the reader, a better understanding of a condition that could possibly affect your show stock in the upcoming show season. In this article, we will discuss what an OCD lesion is, the suspected causes, and diagnosis and treatment options.
“What is an OCD, Doc?” With the number of lesions we see, the best definition of osteochondrosis dissecans (OCD) is a condition that affects the joint cartilage and often involves the bone just beneath the cartilage. The easiest way to imagine it would be like having early arthritis. Lameness associated with OCDs can range from mild, almost undetectable, to severely lame with a short striding gate. With that being said, it is important to note that any joint can be affected; but, with our line of work, the complaint usually involves one or both hocks. “How did this Happen? He was sound as a cat when I bought him.” As stated, lameness can vary. We have seen cattle with no significant lameness or enlarged joints as babies come into the clinic at 900 to 1,000 pounds with swollen hocks and off in one or both hind limbs. So, why is this happening? The exact cause is unknown, but there are multiple theories that could contribute to this condition. Some may say it is genetic, which has been proven in many Thoroughbred race horse lines and, yes, we have seen some common trends involving certain bulls. However, the development of an OCD lesion is a multifactorial condition. Think about it this way - from year to year there are different trends in the show ring: big-bodied, big-boned show stock packed into a moderate framed package while still trying to maintain a sound, loose structure. But, what is the goal? That’s correct - to get these projects to eat and gain weight faster to improve competiveness in the show ring. So, genetically, we are trying to get these animals to convert feed faster and increase gain, which, in turn, causes accelerated growth before skeletal maturity.
146 January/February 2016 • theshowcircuit.com
Another factor affecting the development of OCDs may be lack of exercise. As the old saying goes, “If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it.” This is also known as Wolff’s Law on bone transformation. This is the law that proves that by increasing load bearing stress on the bones, it will increase bone strength and durability compared to bone that is not placed under stress. To the showman and the producer, this means exercise is extremely important (with showmanship practice as an added benefit) to help reduce the severity of OCD associated lameness. “How do we know it is an OCD, and can we fix it?” When it comes to diagnostics, it is always best to localize the area that is painful. The best means to do this is the use of regional anesthesia to identify the painful area. Once the source of pain is isolated, digital radiography is best used to identify the problem, as this form of radiography gives us the best detail and resolution currently available to the large animal veterinarian. Conventional radiography does not offer enough detail to routinely diagnosis some of the more subtle OCD lesions we are presented. We must always be vigilant and remember there are other causes of lameness when evaluating the joint such as: fractures of the bones, infection of the growth plates, or injuries involving ligaments to the supporting structures surrounding the joint. Remember OCD lesions may occur in any joint in the body. The same diagnostic methods may be used for show pigs and if no lesions are observed directly on radiographs, OCD can still not be ruled out, but we should also consider the possibility of infection of the joint with mycoplasma. If this organism is suspected and clinical signs support it, aggressive therapy should be instituted to support curative treatment. If there is question of the causative agent, it may be best to consider PCR testing on a joint fluid sample to confirm the diagnosis. It has long been held by this practice that lameness caused by Mycoplasma hyosynoviae is over diagnosed and the true culprit is OCD lesions.

Treatment There are many treatment options available for OCD lesions, some may be more prudent than others, particularly when economics are important. Option 1, which is the most invasive, is surgical reduction - curettage or over drilling of the lesion to stimulate healing. This process is met with mixed results. If the lameness is detected early and before extensive cartilage damage is done, surgical intervention can be rePicture A: Left Tarsus (Hock)

tive in certain instances utilizing various anti-inflammatory products to help reduce inflammation. Option 3 involves the uses of systemic treatment with NSAIDs, which will provide temporary relief to the joint but is not thought to be curative. All the oral preventative compounds offered in the market place for horses are thought to be of limited value in the ruminant. This is due to the dissimilarities in the digestive process in the ruminant compared to the horse and probable disassociation of the compounds in the rumen by the ruminal microbes.

Providing adequate nutrition for that specific animal’s stage of development along with regular exercise is also critical in preventing OCD lesion formation.

Breeds you show: Goats, Heifers, Lambs Siblings: 3 Brothers- Ian (13), Turner (10), and Cord (5) 1 Sister- Tayte (10) Favorite activities outside the show ring: FFA- One of my favorite activities to participate in outside the show ring is the FFA Organization. I currently preside as the Boerne FFA President and I plan to run for Texas FFA State Office in the Spring of 2016. I have an incredible passion for the organization and the beliefs that it holds. I plan to further my career in the agricultural industry through college and after I graduate. The Dutton Boys- Another beloved pastime is spending time with the Dutton Boys, two brothers who suffer from progressive muscular dystrophy. Throughout the years I have helped them show goats, babysit them and be their helping hand when needed. We enjoy going to the movies, having small hunting expeditions and playing games around the house. Favorite movie/TV show: TV Show- The Voice Movie- God’s Not Dead Favorite singer/music group: Chris Stapleton Favorite book/author: The Bible Pet peeve: My biggest show day pet peeve would be when my shirt doesn’t want to stay clean before heading into the show ring. Names of your current steers/heifers: Heifer- Josie, Josie is my chimaine heifer that I have purchased through the House Calf Scramble. This past year I competed in the Houston Calf Scramble and won a $1,500 donation to purchase a beef Heifer/Steer. Throughout the process I have grown extremely close with Josie and the bond we have is unbreakable. Josie is so cute and practically acts like a dog. She even fetches! In fact, a video of Josie fetching has gone viral on social media, including reaching 3 million views on FaceBook! What’s your favorite stock show and why? My favorite stock show is the San Antonio Livestock Show. I love the San Antonio Livestock Show for many reasons but primarily because it’s the one that I truly feel gives back to the kids the most. The San Antonio Livestock Show makes sure that the exhibitors receive the most return for their hard work and investment. What do you want to be when you grow up? This subject is very tricky for me because I have so many passions in the agri-
cultural industry. My dream is to attend Texas A&M University and pursue a career in the Agricultural Industry. What quality/skill do you have that you’re most proud of? The qualities and skills that I am most proud of are Leadership and Compassion. I feel that I possess leadership skills that I put into practice daily. Whether it’s at home, at school or in the community, I always try to make sure that I am aware of the needs of others and that I take a role in making a difference in the world around me. Favorite subject in school: My favorite subject in school is, without a doubt, Ag Class. With my passion for agriculture, combined with my drive for success, I thrive the most with the numerous opportunities presented to me during school and after school through my Ag Classes. Would you rather dance, play cards or hula hoop? Play Cards One weird habit/skill/fact about you: One weird fact about me is that I make sure I never walk into a ring without my lucky show shirt. Favorite show memory so far: One of the many great memories I have over the years of showing livestock is when my family and I had the blessing of winning the San Antonio Market Goat Show. This was an especially fond memory because that goat, Bullet, held a special place in each of our hearts. Least favorite show day task: My least favorite show day task would be waking up extremely early. I am not a morning person and tend to have crazy hair and bad breath when I wake up. Even though I do not like the feeling of waking up in the morning, I greatly appreciate the fact that I’m able to get up and make the most of my time everyday, just as if it were my last Most embarrassing stock show moment: One of my most embarrassing stock show moments was during the 2014 San Antonio Boer Doe Show. I was in desperate need of a haircut with little time to spare. Thankfully enough, Glen Martin was there to save the day and gave me a quick “Trim” with one of my does fitting blades, 5 minutes before I walked into the ring. I finally understood what it felt like to be fitted just like one of the does in the show ring.
William Cole Matkin BOerNe, TexaS | age: 18

ne of the most important days for any cattle breeder is sale day, and these days many are moving toward the online sales platform. For many, going online can be a bit overwhelming. So, we’re adding a new regular feature to The Show Circuit’s editorial - it is our hope that Beyond the Screen helps you navigate and make the most of the online sales experience utilizing the know-how of SC Online Sales (our sister company) marketing experts.
In the next issue, we’ll delve into the details, but first we’d like you to meet our team – together they have more than 120 years in the livestock business. If you have questions about the online sales experience you’d like to see covered in this column, please email Jen Hummel (jen@sconlinesales.com) or Sharla Ishmael (sharla@theshowcircuit.com) with your ideas. We LOVE reader input!

aus·pi·cious: giving or being a sign of future success The purpose of the Arkansas Jr. Cattlemen’s Association is to promote the welfare of the cattle industry, to further the education and cooperation of young people interested in cattle and the beef industry.
ajca
“Leadership is the challenge to be something more than average.” – Jim Rohn Arkansas Jr. Cattlemen’s Association outgoing President Blaire Wildy has been a phenomenal leader or our organization. She is one of those great leaders who didn’t set out to be a leader. She set out to make a difference. Her year as AJCA President wasn’t about the role but was always about the goal to improve things for our members and our association. Blaire has successfully made a difference in AJCA. Blaire is a vibrant young woman who works hard to accomplish her life goals and dreams. Over the past year, Blaire has exhibited exceptional leadership skills. Whether it is leading a group of officers or a committee to plan an event like our state leadership conference, to organizing her peers into completing certain tasks at our annual fundraiser. cattle show or awards program, Blaire is willing to jump in, do her part and more. She has willingly taken on important tasks and jobs dealing with AJCA and has handled them all professionally and positively. She has never disappointed our board of directors, officer team or members. In life, Blaire Wildy has made great achievements. These awards and accolades have been much deserved. She works hard with her livestock projects from working daily with her show cattle to leading livestock related youth

development groups like AJCA, which she has served for several years. In all of her organizations and projects, Blaire shows a strong work ethic, determination, dedication and commitment to her many and varied responsibilities. Be it in her actions or her words, Blaire is a role model to her peers and a mentor to other young men and women. She is beautiful on both the outside and the side that really matters – the inside. The creativeness and the happiness she brings to others very refreshing. She will continue to accomplish great things this fall as she heads off to college and the world of adulthood. Thank you, Blaire Wildy for your leadership and years of service to AJCA.
