3 Valentine’s Day Dinners By Philip Ayers

With so much love in the air, there has never been a better time to share a delicious meal with that special someone. So if you haven’t already made dinner plans or you can’t quite figure out where you might like to eat, don’t panic! Whether you’re looking for something classy or casual, the Main Line has a wide multiplicity of restaurants, varying in price, atmosphere and cuisine. Below The SPOKE has selected three restaurants and have provided you with a written taste test of each. Bon appetit!
1. Trattoria San Nicola
Nestled right across the street from the train station, Trattoria San Nicola is one of Berwyn’s finest restaurants. The authentic ambiance only adds to the cuisine. To ensure a wonderful evening, the head chef, Vito Giannandrea, has devised an exquisite Valentine’s Day Menu. Entrée prices range from $12.00 to $22.00, but it’s money well spent. Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance. Our Favorite Dish: Petto di Pollo Saltimbocca For more information: (610) 296-3141
2. Nectar
The Dalai Lama once said, “Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.” This same quote spans the top of Nectar’s brilliant menu. Just off Route 30 in Berwyn lies the Asian-fusion, jaw dropping restaurant of the future. If you’re looking for something a bit livelier, a bit fancier, Nectar might be a perfect fit. Remember to make reservations. Also, you just might want to ask for an advance in your next few allowances. Our Favorite Dish: Wok Chili Tenderloin of Beef For more information: (610) 725-9000
3. Fellini Café Trattoria
This restaurant has a similar authenticity of San Nicola, only it’s cheaper, smaller and more quaint. It has an extremely extensive menu with more than 100 dishes to choose from. It has been said to have some of the best bruschetta around. Within the T/E district lie two Fellini Cafés. One is located in Berwyn. The other is located just off Route 30 in Paoli. Reservations are recommended, although not required. Our Favorite Dish: Gnocchi al Pesto For more information: (610) 647-1737
