The SHC men’s golf team finished in second place this past Tuesday, April 8 playing some of their best golf all year. The Badgers were in the lead after the first day but ultimately fell into second behind Faulkner State and Union College. The team only lost by one stroke after losing an 11-stroke lead. On the first day of the tournament junior Jordan Portal and freshman Wesley Hunter led the pack shooting a 67 and 70 respectively. Seniors Phil Dugan and Spencer Lane shot an 81 and 77 in their final Spring Hill Invitational.
After playing a tournament at home the players appreciated the crowd support on their home turf. “It was good to be able to host a tournament and it as really nice to be able to have some of the kids come out and watch,” says Hunter. “That made it fun to play.” Portal also adds that they were “definitely more comfortable and confident” to be playing on the Spring Hill Golf Course.
