A. BRADLEY NELSON
Chief Marketing Officer Sotheby's International Realty
AVIEWFROM NEWYORKCITY The real estate world has had an historic ride since the Covid-19 outbreak and 2022 looks to be yet another complicated and exciting year for the worldwide markets in which Sotheby?s International Realty works. While the urban markets had a very slow 2020 followed by a stronger 2021, we are now poised for what I expect to be a record setting 2022. In New York, our inventory is starting to climb as we head towards the active Spring season yet the demand we are seeing in the mid to high end of the luxury market is like nothing we have experienced before. Interestingly, in the second home and vacation markets (many having transformed into primary residence locations), which in 2020 and 2021saw staggering levels of sales volume (often doubling year over year), demand remains high yet inventory is at all-time lows ? driving prices up to near bubble levels and blocking many buyers from entering.
As The Stein Team carefully monitors the worldwide luxury markets from our unique perch among Sotheby?s International Realty, we are able to identify trends that are coming and going ? what has happened in certain markets acting as a bellwether for others. The Stein Team has been hard at work these past few years doing all we can to help our clients navigate some of the most complex market conditions in history and while we look forward to smoother and more predictable seas ahead, we remain vigilantly focused on providing you all with the most up-to-date, accurate and honest information to help guide your future real estate needs and wants. In the pages that follow, you will find shrewdly curated articles exploring various markets, trends and luxury opportunities which have helped shape The Stein Team?s approach to 2022 and beyond. We are proud to present and hope you enjoy Sotheby?s International Realty?s 2022 Luxury Outlook.
