Ressler Land and Cattle | Annual Production Sale

We are looking forward to hosting you at our 7th Annual Production Sale! Our offering this year includes 70 two-year-old Red Angus bulls & 80 commercial, bred Red Angus, Black Angus, & Red Baldy heifers

The two-year-old bulls we offer are born and developed on grass and will be ready to make an impact on your farm or ranch! These mature two-year-old bulls are designed to show up to your farm ready to do the job they were purchased for. They are fed a high forage, low concentrate diet proving their growth ability without being pushed hard.

All bulls being offered this year have been genetic tested with 50K. This ensures genetic accuracy and allows you to have the most accurate EPDs available as you select herd sires for your programs! Additionally, all bulls were carcass ultrasounded prior to being turned out on grass for the summer. This information gives you an idea of what their actual carcass data and measurements were at one year of age.

Each bull in our sale is hand picked based on growth data and docility. Many bulls offered in this production sale have RLC genetics on both the paternal and maternal side. Their genetics are from cow and bull lines that have proven their worth as replacement cows, bull prospects, and feeder calves.

Included in this year’s sale will be 80 commercial, bred heifers. These are first calf heifers with calving dates ranging from March 25, 2023 to May 1, 2023. All of the heifers are guaranteed bred to high calving ease RLC bulls. Many of the heifers being sold are raised in our herd or bought from customers with predominantly RLC genetics.

A video auction will be held at the farm broadcast by DV Auction. These videos will be used to sell the animals instead of running them through the ring. Bidding can be done in person or online. Phone bids are also accepted; please call Bryan or Mark prior to sale.

We welcome visitors to our farm at any time. Please contact us prior to your visit to discuss your herd needs and how RLC can be a part of your operation. The animals for sale will be on display starting at 10:00 a.m. on sale day for your viewing.

INSURANCE:

We encourage all buyers to obtain insurance for their animals purchased. Insurance will be available at the sale. The buyer assumes full liability of death or injury to his/her animal following the sale.

All bulls are guaranteed breeders for the first season defined as 90 days following turn out of the bull. Any grievances must be reported by October 1, 2023. Breeding soundness exams will be performed prior to delivery in the spring by Dr. Greg Carlson, DVM. There is no guarantee on their semen freezing.

All heifers are guaranteed bred, but does not guarantee a live calf. Ultrasounding was done by Southwood Vet Clinic - due date is just an estimate and not guaranteed.

Breeding soundness is of the utmost importance to us, and we stand behind our animals. We will assist all purchasers in the event of any problems.

FEEDING:

We encourage all buyers to leave the bulls at our farm until delivery to continue their ration and to receive their breeding soundness exam. This will be at no charge to you until April 1, 2023.

DELIVERY:

We offer free delivery of all bulls and heifers within ND, SD, MN, & MT. Deliveries to other states will be free on purchases totaling $5000 or more. We will be glad to aid in delivery for purchases of less than $5000 at a cost. All heifers must be picked up or delivered by January 23, 2023. We will start bull deliveries on April 1, 2023. Any cattle being transported internationally will have delivery arranged by RLC at the buyers’ expense.

HEALTH:

All bulls and heifers are in good health and have been vaccinated using the Select Vac Program. All cows tested negative for Jhonnes. Prior to delivery, all bulls will be vaccinated with Bovi-Shield Gold FP 5VL5 and poured with Dectomax.

When we purchased LRL Ambition G87 in 2020, we were looking for a bull in our lineup that would add power and length of side to some of our more moderately framed cows. His genetics bring a complete outcross to anything in our herd. The G87 sons are long sided, sure footed, and will have plenty of performance. Lot 1 is a great way to start the G87 sire group; he is a near carbon copy of his sire with some added growth numbers. His dam, RLC Scarlet 200F, has had two calves with a WW ratio of 104, YW of 121, IMF of 117, BF of 118, REA of 106, and possesses a 102 MPPA. Use RLC Ambition 174J on your moderate cows to add stretch and weaning weight to your next calf crop.

2, RLC Ambition 194J, is an easy fleshing G87 son out of a great Scarlet cow that possesses a 102 MPPA on her second try. His mass and depth of body will make him a great sire that will produce many replacement females in your herd backed by the Scarlet cow line and BAR M Sasquatch sire. Lots 1 through 3 are the first of the SASQUATCH daughters to calf and so far they are doing a great job!

RLC Bullseye 191J is an absolute standout of the Bullseye sire group and maybe even the offering for just shear mass. He is nearly as wide as he is tall, but yet is very athletic and has a presence about him. RLC Bullseye 191J’s mother, a 4Y daughter out of a Amber Lights cow, did a great job on her first try and possesses a MPPA of 108. Use RLC 191J on your large framed cows that need to add some mass to their middle.

111J is about as dark cherry red as a Red Angus herd bull can be! Backed by the Holly cow line, his maternal traits are stacked! He has a STAY EPD that is in the Top 5% and -1.6 BW EPD. Lot 24 will go on to be a great heifer bull that will fill the replacement heifer pen with daughters for years to come! His dam is a smaller made cow that has continued to be one of the top cows in our herd. She raised another scale topping bull calf again this summer that will be in the bull sale in 2024! His 2nd generation maternal dam has a 105 MPPA all while maintaining a WW Ratio of 108 YW ratio of 110!

Code Red 265J is another nice 113E son that goes back to the great Juniper 151W cow that was picture perfect phenotypically and had a flawless udder. You can appreciate RLC 265J’s hip and ease of movement as he has a presence about him just as his mother RLC Juniper 182E did on the show string in Denver. Again there is cow power behind 265J as his dam possesses a MPPA of 105.

Code Red 274J is another uniform 113E son. All of the RLC PIE Code 113E sons in the offering are within 10lbs at birth and 20lbs at weaning. 113E sure works on powerful cows, and RLC 274J’s dam is no slouch either with a MPPA of 107 on six calves and a calving interval of 369 days. Bring RLC 274J home with any of his half-brothers, and you will have a uniform, heavy weaning calf crop.

Code Red 280J has all the traits that we look for when choosing our bulls in our offering. He is deep sided and dark red with a long neck that has a herd bull crest. His sire was raised here at RLC and has gone on to prove himself as a very consistent cow bull that calves easy and his calves get up and grow! His dam RLC 116F is out of S Value 6202 that has about as deep of rib as you can make them. Her first two calves have a BW ratio of 100 WW ratio of 103 and YW ratio of 110 with a 101 MPPA. RLC 280J will add length of side and pounds to your calf crop!

Code Red 288J is the sole negative birthweight Code Red 113E son that would work on larger capacity heifers as his dam has a BW ratio of 92. His extension and calving ease shoulder should be conducive to easy calving calves.

is a Top Dollar qualified bull that carries himself on a moderate frame that will mate well with heifers. His smooth shoulders and small head are just the beginning of the carcass package that he possesses. He had the second largest ribeye in his contemporary group while still ratioing a 104 IMF. His dam 206G stems from our Scarlet cow line that has proven to be a moderate, easy fleshing cow line. Lot 38 is both a carcass and maternal package!

295J is one of the youngest calves in the offering, but has grown up to be a larger framed herd bull that will mate well with moderate cows or heifers that need some added length. His athletic appearance is hard to fault stemming from his dam RLC 254E who is a heavy boned thick made momma cow. She has had three natural born bull calves with a BW ratio of 93.

Reddington 217J is a heifer bull, and you will want to keep every heifer he sires as he is in the top 20% of the breed in maternal traits. He also has Fireberry on the bottom side of his pedigree that goes back to the great foundation cow Fireberry 1N from RCRA in Montana. Suitable for heifers.

Reddington 262J has the most performance of any of the Reddington sons to

with his top 2% of the breed in both WW and YW. He weaned off heavy with lots of performance but also has good maternal numbers. His 2nd generation maternal dam, TPIE Red BeLLe 6067, was in the donor pen with a 112 MPPA, 113 wean Ratio, and 114 REA ratio.

Prime Time 171J is the first of the half-blood Simmentals to sell. We had the opportunity to have WS Prime Time cover a pasture and are happy with the result. He sired these outstanding sons and some really nice daughters that will go back into our herd. RLC Prime Time 171J is a nice, correctly made, cool profiling bull that has the look of a herd sire. He scanned a big ribeye and has multiple traits in the top 10% of the breed.

RLC ALL ABOARD 200J

200J is Top Dollar qualified and really has a presence in the bull pen. He has that herd bull look with a cool front end that follows through to his athletic appearance. 200J scanned the largest ribeye in the offering with a 119 REA ratio. He will add length and carcass traits to his calf crop with a heterosis package that you don’t want to miss out on!

Commercial, Bred Red & Black Heifers

The heifers in our offering this year are all first calf heifers bred to low birth weight, high calving ease RLC bulls. They were hand selected from heifers raised on our farm or purchased from customers with primarily RLC genetics. Groups 1 and 2 were heifers purchased from Wasem Red Angus.

The heifers are sorted into groups based on calving date. The highest bidder will get choice of which group or groups they would like to purchase; the bidder must take all the heifers in the group.

All ultrasound data was performed by Dr. Greg Carlson, DVM of Jamestown, ND. Please remember that calving dates are just estimates. The heifers are sold guaranteed bred. Delivery is available at the buyers’ expense and will be arranged by RLC if needed. All heifers must be picked up or delivered by January 23, 2023. All of the heifers were given PregGuard GOLD 10 FP, Valbazen (oral dewormer), and poured with clean up.
