The University of Southern Mississippi Theta Alpha chapter of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity won the King Neptune dance contest last night after a fourpart performance that included stomping, multiple outfit changes, hip-hop dancing and lyrical skits. King Neptune is part of Delta Gamma sorority’s philanthropy week called Anchor Splash. All proceeds made from both King Neptune and Anchor Splash benefit Service for Sight, the national charity that Delta Gamma supports. Suspect caught after chase in Vicksburg Mary Margaret Halford Executive Editor
The man accused of the Monday morning robbery at Hancock Bank was arrested early Tuesday in Vicksburg. This is not his first time to be jailed for a robbery offense. Michael Scott Partridge, 24, was arrested around 2 a.m. Tuesday in the Eagle Lake community of Vicksburg. Warren County sheriff Martin Pace said deputies received a call from a U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task

Force member that the suspect was possibly at a home in Vicksburg, and a team was assembled to investigate. As deputies approached the house, Pace said Partridge jumped out of a back window and ran away on foot. After a “brief pursuit,” Partridge was tackled and arrested. “He didn’t get too far,” Pace said. “Once we got the call about it, our part was short and sweet. Hattiesburg took over from there.” Partridge was in the Warren County jail Tuesday waiting to be brought back to Hattiesburg. Partridge is accused of robbing Hancock Bank at 33rd Avenue

and Hardy Street around 11 a.m. Monday. It is unclear how much money was stolen, but Hattiesburg police said he got away with “very little cash.” Police do not believe the suspect was armed at the time of the robbery. The robbery at Hancock Bank is

not the first that Partridge has been accused of, however. Vicksburg police captain Bobby Stewart said Partridge was arrested for robbing the Wal-Mart there in December 2007. Stewart said Partridge stole a plastic gun from the store, painted it black and robbed a cashier. He was arrested a few hours later with about $4,000, and the toy gun was still in his possession. According to the Warren County District Attorney’s office, in August 2009 Partridge pleaded guilty to the December 2007 robbery. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and the sentence was

suspended upon his completion of a drug and alcohol program. Partridge was reportedly later arrested for credit card fraud, and his probation from the 2009 conviction was revoked. Reports say Partridge was ordered to another treatment program and new probation period. Hattiesburg police said Partridge is a Vicksburg native, but he was living in Hattiesburg when the robbery occurred. When arrested in Warren County, Partridge listed his residence as one in Vicksburg. He is not a student at Southern Miss.
