Socal Media/Copy Editor Devin Nottis, 19, of Pascagoula, was arrested Oct. 8 on charges of grand larceny in connection with the Oct. 7 break-in at the Hattiesburg Zoo, said Hattiesburg police spokesman Lt. Jon Traxler. The break-in led to the death of two flamingos Devin Nottis at the facility. The student has also been placed on suspension by the university, according to Southern Miss Now. Members of the Delta Mu Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity (PIKE) are also under investigation following the events at the Hattiesburg Zoo. Nottis is currently prohibited from stepping foot on campus for any reason other than judicial proceedings with the Dean of Students Office and is subject to arrest if found in violation of this order. He is being held on a $17,300 bond and has a hearing Oct. 17.

Hattiesburg Convention Commission executive director Rick Taylor said a female bird was taken at 1:08 a.m. Tuesday and found later that morning abandoned on the Longleaf Trace. Taylor said it was returned to the zoo by animal control and had to be euthanized because of its injuries, according to Associated Press.

Taylor said a second flamingo was injured in the incident and died Wednesday. He said zoo officials believe the male flamingo died from injuries sustained while defending his mate during the attack, according to AP. In a security video found at the Hattiesburg Zoo, at least four people were found wandering the premises after hours. Eyewitnesses reported seeing young men climbing a fence out of the zoo with what appeared to be a large bird in hand. Nottis allegedly brought the bird back to the Pike house and abandoned it in another area of Hattiesburg.

The chapter is indefinitely suspended at this point.

Members have been ordered to cease and desist all activities until further notice by the university. The national office of the fraternity has placed the chapter on administrative suspension, requiring it cease operations for 30 days while executive officers determine its future, according to Southern Miss Now. “The university is taking swift and appropriate action in response to this incident,” said Joe Paul, Southern Miss vice president for student affairs. “This is a terrible and heinous act that has occurred, and inconsistent with the values of our institution.”

A Snap Chat video of Nottis has surfaced where he was talking about his events in the form of a rap song. Nottis said he took the flamingo and brought it back to the house.

Members of the Delta Mu chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha are not permitted to give any statements until the investigation has concluded.

Supreme Court skips same-sex marriage question Noé Cugny Printz Reporter

The same-sex marriage situation is at a standstill and is set to remain this way as the Supreme Court decided not to make a decision on the issue when they entered a new term on Oct. 6.

The Supreme Court had enough material to stay busy when the justices met last week to sift through about 2,000 cases - ranging from issues like religious freedom in prisons to political redistricting and to freedom of speech on Facebook -

that have piled up over the summer, leaving little time to focus on the big issue of gay marriage.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg pointed out in September that there was “no need for us to rush,” considering the tendency for appeals courts to strike down states’ bans on same-sex marriage.

On Oct. 8, Justice Anthony Kennedy issued a temporary stay in a same-sex marriage case involving Idaho and Nevada, after the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the two states’ bans on same-sex

marriage Tuesday.

Ginsburg said there would be some urgency when an appeals court allows same-sex marriage bans to stand, thus going against the legal trend favoring gay marriage across the country. Such conditions might force the Supreme Court to step in sooner, according to Ginsburg.

A Gallup poll from May 2014 showed that Americans’ support for the law recognizing same-sex marriages as legally valid has increased to a new high of 55 percent. The poll showed that young Americans

are more supportive of same-sex marriage, gradually driving up the overall support.

In view of this lack of conflict in the lower courts, the Supreme Court chose to leave the same-sex marriage situation at a standstill, in favor of challenges brought up by conservatives.

For example, the increasing use of citizen commissions to draw congressional district lines in many states has been challenged by the Republican-ran legislature in Arizona, who deems the practice unconstitutional.

On Oct. 7, the Supreme Court heard the case involving the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act, signed by President Clinton in 2000, and a Muslim inmate in Arkansas who was denied the ability to grow a short beard as commanded by his faith.

Arkansas does allow inmates to grow beards for medical purposes, and Muhammad’s beard would be permissible in 44 state and federal prison systems

across the country.

“The irony of restricting (religious freedom) in prisons is particularly painful, because we know from 20 years of work that religion, faith, is the one thing that will turn the lives of these prisoners around,” said Chuck Colson, founder of the Prison Fellowship, according to the Becket Fund website. Numbers from the InnerChange Freedom Initiative show a 12 percent drop in reincarceration rates when prisoners exercise faith.

Other issues that will be examined by the Supreme Court this term include the extent of First Amendment rights concerning threats made on Facebook, a decision on whether states that elect judges can bar judicial candidates from personally soliciting campaign contributions and an anti-abortion and women’s rights groups’ urging the court to require employers to treat pregnancy the same way other temporary disabilities are treated on the job.

Southwest suburban Bolingbrook resident Mohammed Hamzah Khan, 19, was arrested by authorities at the O’Hare International Airport for attempting to join ISIS, a terrorist organization that has beheaded citizens of countries such as the U.S. and Great Britain.

On Oct. 6, Khan appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Cox after being charged with one count of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, according to an Oct. 6 press release by the Department of Justice. He stayed in federal custody and had a detention hearing at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 9.

After the hearing, Khan’s lawyers said the government does not have conclusive evidence that his client sought to provide materials to terrorists, according to a report on CBS. “In the case of Khan, it was taxes,” said Nathan Barron, a freshman political science major.

“Khan mentions in his journal that he cannot pay U.S. taxes that go to send airstrikes to bomb his Muslim brothers and sisters.”

Departments explain advisement Jamie Dykes Printz Reporter

October marks a month of SGA elections, Halloween parties and pumpkin Oreos. Now that fall classes are in full swing, it’s time to start planning for next semester. What classes should be taken? Does this class count toward one’s major? What is all this advisement stuff about?

Who are the advisers anyway?

If a student is asking these questions, never fear - this article is here to shed some light on the matter.

Even if it is not time for advisement, an adviser can offer helpful information that pertains to a student’s major.

The Student Success Center’s page on advisement said, “If you do not know who your academic

adviser is, that information can be found on SOAR in your Student Center (in the Adviser box on the right of the panel). Click the Details link to get contact information for your advisor.”

It is possible to swap advisers if necessary. Most departments will accommodate this request.

Honors College students are advised twice - first by the Honors College and then by their major’s department or college.

To see an adviser before the registration window opens, courses should be placed in the shopping cart in SOAR. If the appointment is after, one should go ahead and register for classes.

Create a schedule before the advisement appointment.

Sometimes advisers require students to bring a tentative schedule with them to

their appointments.

According to the Department of Anthropology and Sociology’s page on advisement via the university’s website, “When you meet with your adviser, they will view your schedule in SOAR (either in your shopping cart or your class schedule) and approve it or suggest changes. Failure to have your adviser approve your schedule will result in your schedule being dropped by SOAR even if you are registered.”

SOAR has many helpful tools to help student plan when they want to take certain classes. My Planner is one such helpful tool.

There is an option which allows users to block off hours for time to nap, study or eat.

It can be easy to tell if one needs to take a particular course or not. When searching

for classes, there is an option that shows one’s required classes. It is always good to knock out required classes when possible. If a student is still unsure if a class is

Deans prepare for budget cuts Lindsey Kelley Printz Reporter

With many students still wondering about the upcoming effect of the budget cuts, the deans of each college have been working to create budget proposals, discuss the effects and look anxiously to the future.

David Hayhurst, dean of the College of Science and Technology, has experienced these types of cuts firsthand while serving as the dean of the College of Engineering at San Diego State University during the 2008 California financial crisis.

According to the California Department of Finance, the state of California experienced a deficit of $24.3 billion during the 200809 fiscal year, which resulted in extreme cuts in higher education.

Hayhurst said SDSU took great pains to protect the university while still reducing costs.

“Our university was a leader in trying to think through how to do (the budget cuts) in a fashion that would have the least detrimental effect in the long run on the university,” he said.

He said there were three main objectives SDSU wanted to preserve: to have classes for students when they needed them, to avoid delaying time for graduation and to retain all tenure and tenure-track faculty. Southern Miss will face these issues in the upcoming budget cuts.

SDSU subsequently raised tuition costs to cover for lower state appropriations; however, there was still a loss of over 100 faculty during those difficult years.

Hayhurst explained that some of the ways SDSU dealt with a lower number of faculty was to combine sections. Instead of a class of 40 and a class of 50, there would be one class of 100 students. This involved finding larger classrooms to accommodate larger amounts of students as well as educating professors in the pedagogy of teaching large sections.

“If you’re in a class of 500, how do we know you are achieving the right learning outcome?”

Hayhurst said. “Recitations led by graduate students became part of the mix (as well as) spending resources on training faculty on teaching much larger classes.”

However, while SDSU was able to raise tuition to make up for lost state appropriations, state law requires that even though state money is lowering over time, the school cannot make up the money by raising tuition. Therefore, Southern Miss is facing a decrease in tuition revenue, which could result in loss of faculty, shrinking of programs and less classes offered.

Michael Forster, dean of the College of Health, expressed his worry over several of the departments under his care. “The effect of the cuts is cumulative,” he said. “We’ve had three prior years of cuts.”

He explained that in the past, he was able to use a variety of funds due to grants and reserves that helped keep the deficits at pay. However, with these funds depleted and the budget lowering, Forster worries about the future of the programs of the College of Health.

“What makes this different is that we are already tapped out.

There is no surplus to cut 4.5 percent without doing dramatic things,” he said.

Since the College of Health has so many accredited programs, such as the School of Social Work and Department of Nutrition and Food Systems, there are many specified credentials that each department must meet to retain accreditation.

Forster used the speech pathology program as an example of the specific needs of each program.

“I can’t use an audiology professor in a speech pathology class, even if they have a doctorate.

On the other hand, I can’t use a professor of deaf education in audiology,” he said.

He said for many deans, there is a “wait-and-see” attitude that is currently happening. However, many heads of departments are getting ready to make tough decisions if their proposals are approved. “If you had to lose one or two, what would be the impact?” Forster said of the thought process. “What kinds of adjustments can be made and

Hayhurst emphasized that while the heads of departments and deans are on the front lines of the budget cuts, students have to be the most influential recruiters that a university can have.

“We are in a difficult place with budget cuts, but there are some very straightforward steps that we can all take that will resolve the problem in a pretty short fashion,” he said. “If our enrollment is up next fall, these problems will go away.”

SGA joins ‘It’s On Us’ campaign Christina Nollie Printz Reporter

According to the Not Alone organization’s, 1 in 5 women is sexually assaulted while in college, most often happening in her freshman or sophomore year. Many survivors are sexually abused while drugged, drunk, passed out or otherwise incapacitated; although fewer, college men are also victimized.

The White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault was established Jan. 22.

The force has since implemented the following series of initial steps in their goal to: • Identify the scope of the problem on college campuses • Help prevent campus sexual assault • Help schools respond effectively when a student is assaulted • Improve, and make more transparent, the federal government’s enforcement efforts.

“Perhaps most important, we need to keep saying to anyone out there who has ever been assaulted:

you are not alone. We have your back. I’ve got your back,” said President Barack Obama, Jan. 24.

The national Not Alone initiative serves as an antecedent to the launch of the “It’s On Us” public awareness campaign. This movement was launched by Obama and Biden on Sept. 19.

Stephen Cobb, assistant chief of staff for SGA, took part in a national conference call earlier in September with over 200 other college representatives to gain more information about “It’s On Us” and how to bring this initiative to The University of Southern Mississippi.

“I expect that we will be able to positively affect this campus and the student body. I have high expectations,” Cobb said.

According to the “It’s on Us” public service announcement video, “It’s on us to stop sexual assault, to get in the way before it happens, to get a friend home safe and to not blame the victim. It’s on us to look out for each other, to not look the other way. It’s on

us to stand up, to step in (and) to take responsibility. It’s on us, all of us, to stop sexual assault.”

The SGA is working to figure out how to organize and promote this initiative in the Southern Miss community. Members of SGA are currently in the brainstorming process. Their goal is to get it started and get it started strong.

up in Shoemaker Square and ads on EagleVision.

The purpose of the campaign is to change how sexual assault is viewed in our society. Cobb said “‘It’s On Us’ is a way of saying that we refuse to continue turning a blind eye to this problem and to encourage victims to speak out and seek justice for what happened to them.

“It’s on us to not just be a bystander,” Cobb said. “It’s about removing the stigma of sexual assault that occurs in our society.

The movement is to break down all of those stereotypes and make reporting sexual assault a safer and more comfortable process for victims.”

Cobb said SGA wants to create a safer environment that avoids victim blaming and shaming.

National Week of Action for the campaign will take place Nov. 17 through 21. Eagle Appreciation day, Nov. 17, SGA plans to begin reaching out to students to sign the pledge during that day.

“If anyone has any questions

or would like to talk to someone with SGA about this, there is always someone in our office,” Cobb said. “We are more than willing to educate and spread the words about this campaign.”

According to itsonus.org, this pledge is a personal commitment to help keep women and men safe from sexual assault. The campaign has already found support from various national and global leaders such as Bing, BET, EA Sports, Feminists Majority Foundation, MTV, NCAA, PAC 12, The United States Olympic Committee and many others.

“Myself, Jeffery George, president of SGA, and the rest of us at the SGA’s aim is to serve the students,” Cobb said. “Everything we do is for the students, including introducing this campaign.

We look forward to making this a positive change for our school in leaving Southern Miss better than we found it.”

No Impact Week pushes sustainability Karyn Lewis Printz Reporter

October celebrates National Breast Cancer Awareness, Healthy Lungs Awareness, Down Syndrome Awareness, as well as a number of other observances.

The Office of Sustainability at The University of Southern Mississippi will host No Impact Week in November in honor of energy efficiency and climate control.

There has been a current increase in the popularity of climate change and how it can be prevented.

No Impact Week is a oneweek “carbon cleanse” that will allow individuals to experience the difference that lowering their impact can have on their quality of life, community and the planet.

Participants will work through a series of daily challenges, from decreasing trash production and home energy use, to eating locally.

The national program is based on the real life experiences of Colin Beavan,

an American non-fiction writer noted for recording his attempts to live a zero impact lifestyle for a year in New York City.

Beavan’s blog reports, “The way I see it, waiting for the senators and the CEOs to change the way we treat the world is taking too long. Polar bears are already drowning because the polar ice is melting.”

There will also be campuswide activities during No Impact Week which will focus on different daily themes.

“Conserving energy is important on both a personal and societal level,” said Christina Foreman, sustainability coordinator.

“As an individual, conserving energy reduces the amount of carbon you produce and also saves you money by lowering your utility bills.”

Many college students may feel that neglecting to turn off lights within residence halls does not affect them because they do not have to pay an electric bill, but it helps the environment and is a great habit to form.

“Individual energy conservation efforts benefit society as a whole by reducing the overall demand for power production,” Foreman said.

“Fewer

power plants means that fewer greenhouse gasses are produced, reducing the demand for fossil fuels.”

‘Gone Girl’ impressive on all fronts Bradley Presson Printz Reporter

As the films looking for award nominations are unleashed upon us in the coming months, I could not imagine a better film to herald in the award season than “Gone Girl.”

The film, yet another book adaptation from director David Fincher, follows a husband after his wife mysteriously disappears. From the onset of this discovery, things do not add up to a simple openedand-closed case. Nick Dunne and his wife Amy seemed to have a perfect marriage, but over the course of the film, it is revealed that things in their fairytale marriage were not as they seemed.

As the days of Amy Dunne’s disappearance turn to weeks, the media turns their attention toward Nick.

From this increased media attention, the film manages to perfectly satire the media circus that takes place around high profile crimes.

Over the course of the film, the plot takes the viewer

through multiple twists and sudden turns, while managing to maintain momentum.

Despite being over two hours in length, I never felt the film dragged or lost steam.

The film is also enhanced by the pervasive atmosphere that Fincher and company are able to create. This atmosphere is where the directing prowess of Fincher truly shines, as he is able to permeate an air of suspense that hovers over the film throughout its duration.

The acting in “Gone Girl” is simply superb. Lead actress Rosamund Pike delivers an incredible performance that has already gotten Internet forums demanding an Oscar.

Ben Affleck also delivers a fine performance as Nick Dunne, one of the best of his career in my opinion. The supporting cast is also great, particularly a very enjoyable performance from Tyler Perry, which was very surprising given his most famous role of Madea.

The film also benefits from the incredible score work done by frequent Fincher collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Reznor’s past as leader of the abrasive

industrial music group Nine Inch Nails is exemplified during the tense scenes as the duo uses dissonant and abrasive textures to heighten the anxiety. This is the most prevalent during an unforgettable scene involving Neil Patrick Harris and Pike.

Despite all of the stellar work done elsewhere in the film, I was consistently blown away by the cinematography work done in “Gone Girl.”

Nearly every scene is composed beautifully from a visual perspective. The use of lighting and colors also add immensely to the feeling of unease and mystery that covers the entirety of “Gone Girl.”

While there are still many films left to be seen before the Academy Awards, “Gone Girl” has made a definitive stand as a contender to be reckoned with. No other film I have seen this year has been as masterfully composed or nearly as interesting.

This film is David Fincher’s masterpiece, and it will take many repeat viewings before I feel that I have unraveled all of its secrets.

Guide to college life part II Socialize and get involved Mary Sergeant

Printz Reporter & Photographer A healthy social life is everything a college student needs to get through each day. Whether you enjoy long walks on Longleaf Trace with your best friends, spending your entire paycheck on one weekend in New Orleans or bouncing from meeting to meeting, we all need something to keep us alive when all we feel like doing is crawling into a hole.

For those of you I have become aquainted with throughout the past four years, you might know that a healthy social life is something that I have taken three years to master.

From freshman to junior year, you could pretty much bank on me being at any and every party. Whether it was a fraternity house or a bar, if there were red solo cups involved, I was about it. I took more pride in my beer pong technique than I did my schoolwork.

Now, I am not saying that going out to parties and getting a few

drinks in your system is bad, but learn your limits early on. If you don’t, you could end up in some compromising predicaments. I can say from firsthand experience, getting too intoxicated isn’t worth the humiliation, regret and other horrible things that could happen if you aren’t being careful. With that being said, if your idea of a social life doesn’t involve strutting down fraternity row every weekend night that is perfectly fine and don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Another part of having a social life is exploring your passions with other like-minded individuals.

And, yes, sometimes the things you are passionate about change.

Explore everything. College is the time to find what really gets your blood pumping. You are going to want to spend time socializing with people who think the way you do and are passionate about the things you are passionate about. Find these people and make a conscious effort to keep them in your life.

Lastly, everything you are doing right now is going to get

you somewhere. You want to take leadership roles, volunteer and get out of your comfort zone. I have spent a lot of my time at Southern Miss serving the university. I have learned so much during my years here.

Through Southern Style, I learned how to be a servant leader and that one summer can turn a group of friends into family.

Through SGA, I learned what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. And, through writing and photographing for The Student Printz, I have found a way to express myself. It is something I am proud of.

Every college student should have those kinds of opportunities.

Don’t be intimidated because you weren’t the president of any clubs in high school or weren’t in any clubs at all. You never know what you’ll learn when you incorporate campus involvement into your social life.

College isn’t all about the grades you make, the books you read and how many all-nighters you have stuck through. College

is also about creating lasting friendships, finding yourself and exploring all that life can offer you. This campus is your oyster and you should make the

most of it.

Take these tips, spread your wings and become the social butterfly you have always wanted to be.

Possible link between USM football, enrollment Joshua Campbell Sports Editor

It is certainly safe to say that Southern Miss football has been on a downward spiral over the past few years, which included a 23-game losing streak.

But outside of the football program and the fan base, has the lack of success on the gridiron really hurt The University of Southern Mississippi as a whole?

Statistics show that it could definitely play a role in damaging USM’s image and budget.

When the Golden Eagle football program was solid and producing on the field, enrollment was never higher. The year 2011 marked USM’s highest-ever enrollment at 16,604, which was the fifth consecutive year that enrollment increased from the previous year.

However, the enrollment amount for 2014 is just 14,845, nearly an 11 percent decline from the 2011 peak. Enrollment is nearly 3 percent lower than it was in 2013 as well.

Now that state appropriations are no longer the university’s main source of income—tuition has now become the main source—the university is forced to make budget cuts. Vice President of Finance and Administration Douglas Vinzant said the university could reduce their budget by up to $7 million.

“When we have a decline in enrollment, that automatically impacts the amount of revenue that is available to spend,” Vinzant said. “So, when your revenue goes down,

then you have to adjust your spending plans down.”

One of the biggest fallouts of the budget cuts is the university choosing not to fill certain job openings because they simply cannot afford to do so.

“So, instead of, if a position becomes vacant automatically refilling it, it needs to be signed off on by higher levels of the university that (administrators) agree does need to be filled,” Vinzant said.

This does not mean the university is no longer filling empty positions, but they will simply have to evaluate each position on an individual basis to see if the position is absolutely necessary to be filled. Also, with the lack of students, there will now be a decrease in employees across the board.

“Say, if you have 500 fewer students, then you’ll have 25 fewer faculty (members) to keep that same ratio,” Provost Denis Wiesenberg said. “This will make it a challenge for students to work out their schedules.”

While it may seem a bit farfetched to believe that the lack of success of the football program directly correlates to the budget cuts, it is far more common than most realize.

According to a report conducted and authored by Michael Anderson in 2012, “The Benefits of College Athletic Success: An Application of the Propensity Score Design with Instrumental Variables,” if a school increases their win total by five games from the season prior - USM’s win

total jumped from eight in 2010 to 12 in 2011 - they will see a 5 percent increase in the amount of applicants and a 28 percent increase in alumni donations.

The report said, “it is possible that winning seasons have a larger effect on visibility for lowerprofile non-BCS schools than for high-profile BCS schools.”

In a study conducted by Joshua Hansen of Texas Tech University, 24 percent of the applicants said that Michael Crabtree’s gamewinning touchdown catch against Texas influenced their decision to apply to the university.

The following year, Texas Tech experienced a 10 percent growth in their overall number of applicants. It should also be noted that Texas Tech had three more regular season wins in 2008 than 2007.

Devin Pope and Jaren Pope conducted a study that showed an average growth of roughly 3,000 applicants from all Division I-A schools from 19832000. However, schools that were perennially in the AP top 20 saw an increase of nearly 5,000 during that period.

There are countless studies done on this subject and the overwhelming majority support that success on the football field directly correlates to the number of applications a school receives.

While it is out of university administrators’ control, a thriving football program at Southern Miss could lead to more applicants to the university and would allow them to not worry about making budget cuts.

"I don't know everything that the future holds for me, but I want to be the best person I can be when I do encounter that future. And staying healthy now will better my chances of accomplishing that goal."

Southern Miss had hopes of picking up their first conference win after settling with an exciting double overtime tie in both conference games at home last week. But those hopes were crushed after Old Dominion and Charlotte handed Southern Miss (5-8-2) two road losses this weekend.

The team first traveled to Norfolk, Virginia to open its conference road series against Old Dominion. Offensively, the Golden Eagles could not keep up with the Lady Monarchs’ shots on goal and time of possession. Old Dominion dominated with 20 shots, nine shots on goal compared to Southern Miss’ six shots with only a pair of shots on goal.

In the 42nd minute of the game, the Monarchs had a shot

on goal by forward Madison Hogan blocked by Southern Miss goalkeeper Brittany Taylor. Unfortunately for USM, the ball still rolled around in the goal box and it was not long before the Monarchs’ leading scorer, Jessie Klamut, was there to finish the play, putting the ball in the back of the net.

Hogan was credited with the assist to give Old Dominion a 1-0 advantage.

USM’s sophomore goalie, Taylor, did have seven saves in her efforts of slowing down the Lady Monarch offensive attacks. Both teams remained scoreless in the second half as Southern Miss fell to 0-3-2 in C-USA. The Golden Eagles traveled to North Carolina Sunday to take on the Charlotte 49ers at Transamerica Field. The Southern Miss defense was able to hold Charlotte until the 28th minute when 49ers

forward Rebecca Beatty found the back of the net form 35 yards away giving her team a 1-0 lead.

Only 11 minutes later, USM’s Casey Adkins retaliated with a goal of her own, blasting the ball past the goalie, tying the game for the Golden Eagles. Kay Kay Hypolite assisted the score.

By halftime, Southern Miss improved with their shots on goal having six while Charlotte had nine.

The go-ahead goal in the second half came from Charlotte’s Alex Meyers in the 69th minute; Amanda Jones and Martha Thomas assisted on the play. Southern Miss was unable to score in the second half and fell to 0-4-2 in C-USA play.

Southern Miss returns home this weekend facing C-USA rival Louisiana Tech.

Kickoff is for 1 p.m. Saturday.
