GOVERNMENT ACCREDITATION & FINANCIAL AID The Style Academy is a Private Vocational School, registered by the Government of Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Advanced Education and is a Designated Educational Institution for student loan eligibility, recognized by the Government of Canada. It delivers program curriculums recognized by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) and affordable tuition fees. The Government of Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan work together to provide student financial aid (referred to as “assistance”) in Saskatchewan. Loans, grants, bursaries and scholarships are available to help full and part-time students access and afford post-secondary education. Richards does not guarantee students will receive loans, grants, bursaries, or scholarships but will work alongside students to complete the application process and provide information about financial resources. Payment Plans are offered and financial assistance is available to those students who qualify.

ADMISSION PROCESS

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. Review program information and entry requirements.

1. Saskatchewan high school diploma or nonSaskatchewan equivalent or GED equivalent.

2. Submit student application form and high school or General Education Development (GED) equivalent transcript.

2. Verification of high school or GED equivalent transcript.

3. Receive request for exploratory interview & campus tour. 4. Application and interview will be evaluated to determine if you will be accepted into The Style Academy.

3. 18 years of age. Applicants 17 years of age or younger require parental or guardian consent. 4. Valid government issued photo identification and Social Insurance Number. 5. $125 registration fee. 6. Schedule Campus Tour

SCHEDULE A CAMPUS TOUR Campus tours allow you to observe classroom lessons and guest services while they are being performed, explore career investment payment plans, inquire about supplies and materials and meet the principals and educators. ATTIRE Students are encouraged to express their creativity and professionalism with their apparel, hairstyles and accessories. Students are required to wear black professional attire and maintain a clean, professional appearance. If you are uncertain if a garment is acceptable, please speak to one of our educators, we supply a detailed style guide.

INADEQUATE GRADES Inadequate grades may indicate a lack of student inability or motivation. When a student is struggling in one or more areas of study or skill level, the educator will advise the student on how the deficiency can be successfully completed and determine a deadline for the work to be completed satisfactorily. The student will be notified immediately after a grading period of how the deficiency can be successfully completed.

SUSPENSION Students may be suspended for tardiness, absences, or for inappropriate behaviour with a peer, staff member, or salon area guest. If a student is suspended, the student will be advised by staff about the existing problem and what the student must do to correct the problem. It is the college’s intention is to establish professional etiquette for success in the industry.

TERMINATION A student’s enrolment may be terminated by Richard’s Beauty College for any of the following reasons: failure to meet any of the policies including insufficient progress; non-payment of tuition; failure to comply with rules or policies (including, but not limited to, refusal to follow directions of educators); violation of Provincial Laws or regulations; disruptive behaviour and improper conduct; and any action which causes or could cause bodily harm to a client, a student or employee of Richard’s Beauty College; wilful destruction of property; and theft or any illegal act. In the case of termination, the student will receive a refund, according to the Refund Policy as per the PVS act. Richard’s Beauty College will issue an official transcript of hours to students who withdraw prior to program completion when the student has successfully completed the required exit paperwork; attended an exit interview; and made final payment of debts owed to the College. The student may also be terminated for failure to fulfill tuition requirements as agreed upon per the enrolment agreement.

HAIRSTYLING & BARBERING Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible to apply for a learner’s licence in order to complete an apprenticeship and to pursue the Journeyperson Hairstylist Certification examination process.

MAKEUP 101 Certificate Program Students who successfully complete this program will receive a certificate for Makeup Fundamentals. Makeup 101 is the pro makeup class for beginners! Learn to apply basic daytime makeup and how to transition the look into evening, including both individual and strip lash application. Skills developed include: •

Using the colour wheel to identify undertones and select suitable makeup styles

Determining various face and eye shapes and using makeup to reshape by highlighting and contouring features accordingly

Recognizing skin types and selecting appropriate products for daily cleansing and daytime makeup wear.

Upon completion, you will feel confident applying makeup for day, evening, headshots and simple photography. Makeup 101 does not require any industry experience; however, this class would be a huge asset to anyone in the beauty industry. Especially those looking to increase their sales in a salon by offering makeup touch ups at the end of a hair service, or events like weddings or stagettes.

FASHION STYLING certificate Programs Saskatchewan’s fashion industry has grown into a creative community that has inspired individuals across the province to come together and showcase a diverse platform of talent. In efforts to build upon the success of the local fashion industry, The Style Academy will be offering introductory Fashion Styling Certificate Programs for individuals to develop existing skills or who want to be introduced to the fashion industry.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Retail buyers, visual merchandisers, store planners, inventory control specialists, wholesale agents, manufacturers, retail managers, fashion stylists, fashion show coordinators, fashion public relations experts and entrepreneurs.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Prospective students must be registered through the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission. Course length will be determined based on assessment of Interprovincial Journeyperson exam results or based on assessment during the enrolment interview. A minimum of four hours ($65) is required and payment of invoice is due prior to your course. Fees will be determined at your interview, as they vary between each student.
