Endorsed learning programmes (ELPs). We have partnered with CACHE to offer Endorsed Learning Programmes, these short courses are 6–10 hours long and are completed online within a month. Upon completion you will receive a CACHE certificate. ELPs are great for professional development and cover a range of key topics. EARLY YEARS COLLEGE COURSES.

CACHE Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care (QCF) 33

Credits

For those preparing to work in an Early years setting or are new to the role.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. You should be at least 16 years old with a good standard of written and spoken English. You need to have a placement in an Early Years setting to gain experience. We recommend spending 5–7 hours per week in a placement.

This qualification prepares you to work with children between birth and 5 years, with knowledge of children up to 7 years.

COURSE DURATION. Up to one year, flexible study. ASSESSMENT. Ongoing assignments, portfolio of evidence, observation in the workplace, no exams.

WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR? This qualification is suitable for a range of learners from the age of 16 onwards who have little or no experience in childcare.

THIS QUALIFICATION IS DIVIDED INTO FOUR THEMES:

WHAT NEXT? Upon achievement of this qualification, you can progress onto any of our Level 3 qualifications in Early Years education.

THEME 1: Introducing the role of the early years practitioner. THEME 2: Legislation, frameworks and professional practice. THEME 3: Play, development and learning for school. For those wanting to be a Lead Practitioner or Early Years Educator in an Early Years Setting.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. You should be at least 16 years old with a good standard of written and spoken English. Placements are required for achievement of this qualification. You will also need GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above together with this qualification to count in the staff to child ratios at Level 3. This qualification is ideal for those new to working as a manager in their setting. A Level 5 version of this qualification is also available for more experienced managers.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. You should already be working in a managerial or leadership position and already hold a Level 3 qualification and be working at that level or above within your setting.

This professional development qualification provides the knowledge and skills needed to obtain, store, analyse and use information in order to make decisions. It also covers giving advice and information to others.

COURSE DURATION. Up to 3 months, flexible study. ASSESSMENT. Assignment based assessments, no exam.

CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services 90

Credits

For those new to working as a manager in their setting looking to specialise in advanced practice, residential care or management.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. You should already be working in a managerial or leadership position. You must be at least 19 years of age. You should already hold a Level 3 or 4 qualification and be working at that level or above within your setting.

The Early Years College are offering the three pathways for those working with children. The Residential Services pathways are aimed at learners in similar job roles as those taking the Management pathways but the focus is on management and care in residential settings. The Management pathways are most suitable for Assistant Managers and Deputy Managers who are looking to progress their career. The Advanced Practice pathways are geared towards senior practitioners who would like to develop their career but wish to remain active practitioners within the management framework.

COURSE DURATION. Up to 18 months, flexible study. ASSESSMENT. Assignment based assessments, no exam. PLACEMENT. You should be working as a manager or leader in your setting throughout the duration of this course.

For those requiring the knowledge and understanding to work in a supporting role.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. You should be at least 16 years old with a good standard of written and spoken English. You do not need a placement to complete this qualification.

COURSE DURATION. Six months, flexible study. ASSESSMENT. Ongoing assignments, no exams . PLACEMENT. None required.

This qualification is an introduction to the information and knowledge needed to work in primary, secondary or special schools. It covers the many varied roles that full and part time support staff may fulfill including: administrative roles, site support roles, technical roles and volunteers, as well as those roles that work directly with children and young people in the school environment.

WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR? All those who would like to work in a school support role. It also provides initial training and induction for those new in post.

CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF) 15

Credits

This is the qualification needed to be an assessor of candidates completing vocational qualifications. It is made up of 3 units that can be taken individually if preferred to suit individual needs.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. You should be at least 19 years old with a good standard of written and spoken English.

This qualification covers understanding the principles and practices of assessment, assessing occupational competence in the work environment and assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding.

COURSE DURATION. Six Months or less. ASSESSMENT. It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. You must also carry out at least two assessments of two candidates’ occupational competence.
