Denver CPR Classes

Did you know that CPR is performed differently on adults and children? You might be wondering why this is. Well, children have a smaller body mass. They are also a bit “fragile” thus the technique for CPR must take this into account. How then is this done? Before you begin to perform CPR, you must check for alertness. Check whether the child or person is breathing, coughing or any movement. Performing CPR on someone who is okay can cause the heart to stop. If there is no response whatsoever, you can begin performing CPR. If there is someone nearby ask them to call 911. Remember, that you need to be really calm. If you are not able to maintain calm, you will lose control of the situation very quickly. Do not leave the child alone and unattended without performing CPR for at least two minutes. How do you perform CPR? You can learn this and so much more by attending Denver CPR Classes. This article will give you a snapshot of what you should expect to learn when you join Denver CPR Classes. As indicated earlier, CPR for kids is a bit different from that performed on adults. When you have ascertained that the child is unconscious and not breathing place the child very carefully on his back. Next you will need to perform chest compressions. In CPR for adults you will place the heel of one hand on the breastbone. This should be just below the person’s nipples. Press down about one third into the person’s chest cavity. The movement should be rhythmic rather than sudden. Each time you must let the chest rise completely. The compressions should be fast ad hard with no pausing in between compressions. Remember that these compressions ensure continued blood flow to the whole body. You are essentially keeping the whole body functioning by supplying vital blood to all organs.
