EDITOR’S LETTER
Dear Trendsetters, When people ask me how I cope with stress or anxiety, the answer for me is simple; I keep my schedule full and my brain busy. Throughout my life and with all the ups and downs, I can honestly claim to have mastered that skill. But what do you do when boredom hits you? And I am not talking about the regular boredom that is bound to overcome us every now and then. No. I am talking about that boredom that deeply instills itself within your being, pushing you to question what will come next; propelling you into doing something grand; creating a new landmark in your life. My first reaction to such a kind of boredom is to change my hair!! Either color, cut or style. Then… Then I shall await, knowing… that the best is yet to come! To exciting times ahead, Till next issue,

HIND NASSAR It is October already? I remember writing last January’s letter like it was yesterday. Months are flying by so fast. Every month I set new decisions for a brand new me, an improved version of me, a stronger one. The year is almost over and looking back I feel I went a long way; and in the spirit of Thanksgiving I am truly thankful for everything that happened this year, from good moments to bad ones because I would not be who I am today without it. This month I will not make new decisions, I want to notice all the changes I have accomplished to empower myself. This gives me a great idea for one of my favourite occasions this month: Halloween. I always struggle on what I want to dress as. Now I know that a woman in power is my costume this year; could it be Helen of Troy? Cleopatra? Maleficient?.. We will see I guess.. What will yours be?
8
SIMON BALSOM Every Halloween I’m reminded of Douglas Coupland’s book ‘The Gum Thief’. In it he suggests that if human beings had genuine courage, they’d wear their costumes every day of the year, not just on Halloween. Wouldn’t life be more interesting that way? Coupland goes on to say, “And now that I think about it, why the heck don’t they? Who made the rule that everybody has to dress like sheep 364 days of the year?” It kind of makes you think, doesn’t it? We let fashion influence us but let’s not forget that style is essential, and we must always inject it with our own character.

Back in the days when we were kids, the fear of certain cartoon characters could make us hate the character and have delusions about being hunted by them. As adults, however, we begin to look at those characters in a slightly different way – we admire their power and dominance and look up to them, we might also find ourselves picking up their outfits as a Halloween costume for instance too! In other words – we hunt their attributes! So, I say, why not decide what costume you will wear this year based on the character you feared most as a child? There is great fun in defeating the fears of the past. After all, the only thing we have to fear in life is perhaps fear itself. Happy Halloween!
What are you going to be for Halloween? While the staff put together this issue, that question circulated more than any other. As our October calendar is packed with local fall festivals, Halloween is one of my favorite occasions because my son gets really excited with the costumes. This time of year comes and goes so fast, so we thought we’d make a Halloween themed issue to remind everyone of the season! The illustrated cover, the decoded superstitions, the costume guide — it all took me back to my Halloween heyday. I hope it does the same for you. Happy Halloween (and Eid)!

immy Choo is an iconic luxury fashion brand defined by an empowered sense of glamour and a confident sense of style. The brand traces its roots to a bespoke shoemaker named Jimmy Choo, based in the East End of London in the early 1990s, who catered to the global jet set including Princess Diana. The Jimmy Choo company was founded in 1996, with Mr. Choo’s niece, Sandra Choi, who had been heading up design in the East End atelier, coming on board as a Creative Director, a position she holds to this day. Mr. Choo departed the company in 2001.
Today, Jimmy Choo can be seen on style icons from celebrities to royalty, musicians to heads of state.
The sexy cut, fashionable design, and exceptional Italian craftsmanship struck a chord with a sophisticated clientele, and the first collection enjoyed immediate success. With a goal of creating a global luxury business, Jimmy Choo attracted outside investment and the company embarked on a significant expansion across product categories, channels and geographies.
Retail development has been integral to the company’s strategy. The first Jimmy Choo store was opened in 1996 on Motcomb Street in London, complementing a distribution in some of the most prestigious multi-brand stores in the world. Two years later, the company expanded to the US, opening two stores in New York City and Beverly Hills. International expansion continued with Jimmy Choo securing locations in the premiere luxury shopping destinations of the world’s most prestigious cities including Sloane Street and Bond Street in London, Avenue Montaigne in Paris, Via Condotti in Rome, Madison Avenue in New York, Rodeo Drive in

Regarding the latest Rendez-Vous watches presented, what specially touched you? Do you have a preference regarding the design, material or functions? I usually don’t wear round watches and I was pleasantly surprised how much I love the RendezVous Collection. It feels very feminine and special. Mine is in rose gold with a rose gold face and I feel like it goes with everything I wear and transitions easily from day to night. The latest Jaeger-LeCoultre film you stared “Reinvent Yourself” was a great success. Are self-questioning and certain introspection key to achieve your goals? I firmly believe I can only grow and become a better person by constantly questioning myself and learning from others. I
n an exclusive interview for THETALK magazine, Erik Karlsson, H&M’s Environmental Sustainability Coordinator, and John Loman, H&M’s Product designer Men’s wear & Denim introduce the idea of conscious denim, a collection with clean styling and contemporary fits, that uses more sustainable materials and more conscious processes.
Spokesmen Erik Karlsson & John Loman Talk H&M Conscious Denim
“H&M offers fashion and quality at the best price, which means that our clothes have a good quality and hence, a long life. ”
Do we need to sacrifice fashion for going ‘green’? At H&M we want to prove that fashion and sustainability can and should go together. It’s necessary for sustainable fashion to reach scale in the marketplace. Our Conscious Collection with more sustainable materials already set a good example. And we are continuing to work to make more sustainable fashion affordable and attractive to many people, every day and piece by piece. Why did you choose to partner with Jeanologia? Jeanologia are experts in denim washes and they presented a tool for us, with which we could measure the impacts of the washes. It was a great way for us to start working on the denim washing processes on whole collections. What processes does H&M use to ensure that pieces in its ‘Conscious Denim’ collection are ethically recycled and environmentally sustainable? Our partner, I:CO, who collects and sorts the garments from our stores have signed our Code of Ethics and have been audited by us. The sorted garments are then sent to our supplier where they are recycled and spun into new yarns. All our suppliers have to adhere to our Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics and are subjected to our audit programme, with both announced and unannounced audits. Using the tool Jeanologia provided us with our washing technicians has worked closely with the suppliers to get a great look on the collection and at the same time significantly reduce the

environmental impact from the washes. The washes have been categorized into three categories. Only washes in the toughest category were used in this collection. How can fast fashion be sustainable? H&M offers fashion and quality at the best price, which means that our clothes have a good quality and hence a long life. If and when you no longer want a piece of clothing, we hope that the customer return it, in an H&M store or other second-hand business. By moving towards closing the loops on fibers, using sustainable dyeing and washing processes we hope that the whole fashion industry will be truly sustainable one day. With H&M playing as such a large role in the retail world, the brand can have a bigger impact on the fashion industry than most. What key values do you work towards at H&M? What are your goals for the future of the brand? A key value at H&M is constant improvement, especially so within sustainability. FIAMMA
THE NEW SALVATORE FERRAGAMO HANDBAG
A masterpiece of leather craft, FIAMMA, the new handbag from Salvatore Ferragamo Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti, draws inspiration from the different female generations of the Ferragamo family and their enduring influence on the House today. THE HANDBAG Fiamma is named after Salvatore’s late daughter Fiamma Ferragamo, the house’s leather accessories and shoe designer for almost 40 years who founded the iconic shoe Vara. The semi-circular top handle, designed in a range of five variant sizes, incorporates a functional pocket fastened with a lock that recalls the Gancio, the eternal symbol of Ferragamo’s history and dedication to modern design and luxurious craftsmanship. A combination of undeterred quality and functionality translates into a rich series of luxe details: top-stitched ribbed handles, double zip hardware closure, removable and adjustable shoulder strap and elegant satin lining. Ferragamo also premieres a special collection of miniature styles, a range of limited edition variants that highlight precious mixed materials including: fringe embroidered nappa, two-tone fox fur hand stitched onto aged snakeskin, tweed with degrade Swarovski crystals and lizard skin handles, or calfskin with opulent stingray details. The colour palette favours autumnal browns Cocoa, Black, Moss and Rosewood - as well as seasonal shades such as Plum, Atlantic, Grape, and the lighter touch of New Bisque, while the refined finish lends the metal accessories a golden shimmer. At the FW 2014 Show in Milan, FIAMMA’s first runway incarnation was unveiled, focusing

on exclusive exotics–black crocodile, the combination of pony hair and calfskin, and the sensual softness of palmella to buffed calfskin, complimented by an indulgent silk lining resurrecting an archival foulard print from the 1970’s and polished gold hardware handles. THE PROJECT The FIAMMA launched in New York at a global event to celebrate the second chapter of L’Icona, with a short film and interview series featuring a fascinating cast of international families and their female generations. The film vignettes and portraits showcases the new FIAMMA handbag collection, cast alongside a curated group of internationally relevant women, incorporating Ferragamo signatures – innovative design, interesting combinations of exotic materials, iconic silk print linings from the 1970’s, novelty hardware stemming from the brand’s origins to today- showcasing the House’s classic heritage alongside new playful styles for the next generation.

FALL – WINTER 2014-15 COLLECTION
FALL-WINTER 2014-2015
Contemporary streamlined elegance. A monochrome silhouette with flashes of metallics, petrol blue and burgundy. Elements from the masculine wardrobe melded with sportswear to create a modern tale on femininity. This Karl Lagerfeld collection brings together the line’s established classics with a luxurious twist for Fall-Winter 2014-2015.
Atelier Versace with fresh allure is at the heart of Haute Couture. Long slashed-front dresses have one leg covered as if a trouser for contemporary attitude. Tailoring is cut away, such as a one-sided jacket held to the body by gold-buckled corsetry, or skirts peeled back to reveal the hip.
Among the timeless essentials, the ideal white shirt comes with a cotton piqué or pleated front, or a leather collar. This season, the biker jacket moves up a level with a rich leather version whose sleeves can be unzipped for added versatility. Padded biker-style details feature on leather trousers (both slim and boyfriend versions) as well as on upgraded jogging pants and sweats. Neoprene also brings its sporty edge to tailored separates, while the K-effect «Kuilted» stitching - already a key feature in the accessories line - invites itself onto bomber-style puffas and sweats.
Thin strips of vinyl embroidered onto a transparent base create graphic shapes in a sheer coat or extravagant gown. A new approach to Couture, T-shirt shapes are cut and rolled to create dramatic effects and reveal the skin beneath on a variety of dresses. Opulent blue fur coats include frayed organza patchwork of mink with crystal metal mesh, exclusively created by Swarovski for this collection. Others are made from fox stitched with vinyl and leather.
Embroideries are in a degrade of colour, while semi-transparent nylon is knitted with pockets of crystal metal mesh to sit sinuous on the skin. Voluminous ball gowns of double duchesse silk coated with silicon have been shaped freely on the body for the spirit of couture today. “Atelier Versace is true couture. I wanted to celebrate construction and deconstruction, provoking by taking away fabric, to make couture modern.” DV

Tailored wool provides a masculine element to the collection with checked coats and trousers, while knits opt for texture with leather inserts and large stitching. A flower and chain print on satin adds a playful feminine element. The «Karl» profile again makes its appearance on leathers and sweatshirts. Jeans can be dressed up or down, available in a selection of contrasted finishes. Evening strides in with a selection of longer, tuxedo-inspired dresses and playsuits, contrasted with the ultra-mini length of padded, sequined suits. Double-breasted bouclé coats bring a sense of warmth emphasized by shrugs, gilets and short jackets in fun fur and genuine fur. Beyond the ultimate black, white and grey, the season’s palette opts for the colder shades
of burgundy and petrol blue or green, adding a refined elegance to the youthful feel of the collection. Oversized neck-ties and sleeveless leather gloves add the required panache of the true Karl Lagerfeld spirit. Bags thrive from season to season, with the Karl Zip Bowletto and Kuilted ranges now available in a larger selection of sizes, colours and designs. The new K/Rock family rings an appropriately rock’n’roll note with its removable guitar strap handles. The K/Chain and K/School designs work their metallic details, while the instantly
recognisable Karl Cutout shoppers play with the brand’s logo and iconic name. Shoes focus on classic inspirations and wearability, with the perfect buckled brogue, reworked sneaker and biker boot. For evening, the Katwalk sandal adds height and drama to any outfit.

Key Pieces The theme of black and white, and variations of luminous grey. The colour turquoise, as cold as glass enamel. The first outfit on the catwalk is an oversized trouser suit, in true mannish style. The last to appear are black velvet evening dresses revealing arms and legs, with white details and trims, stripes, and traces of pearls and black crystals. Trousers with pearls that look like pinstripes, jackets and T-shirts with a cut-off waistcoat effect. du bohème chic.

Abdulwahab Al-Essa may be just a person
with different interests. As a matter of fact, this man does have various interests that are part of various successful careers, each mastered with passion and dedication as if it were his one and only. The chairman of Omedia Social Media Marketing, a political tv presenter at Alwatan TV and an entrepreneur reveals his philosophies and points of strength to THETALK readers. How do you manage to integrate different interests and passions and maintain success at them equally? Since 2007, my full focus has been on media and politics – I started appearing on TV since then until 2010. Later, I started focusing on business, and by that time I was in a good media position where I don’t have to show on TV every night like I did before; once a week was more than enough. That was the time when I was able to spare more time for business.
chairman of Omedia Social Media Marketing, political tv presenter at Alwatan TV and entrepreneur
In your opinion, what makes a successful entrepreneur? To be honest, there might be no keywords for this question. However, every entrepreneur has their own circumstances their own ideologies that should be clear the very day they decide to start their business. To answer the question about success in general, I would say a successful person is he who can read the situation very well and work around it wisely.
Where do you find yourself mostly? Well, believe it or not, I don’t know yet. It feels like I have an equal amout of passion: politics, media and business - I miss one when I focus on the other. However, I believe that one day, the three of them will be equally important because they truly continue one another. For example, no successful business can survive without a strong support from media and a good political influence, especially in Kuwait. What do you do when you are not working? Do you have any hobbies? I like to spend more time with my family whenever I have a free time. As for the hobbies, I think I’m lucky to have my hobbies as parts of my job. When you were younger, did you have a vision in terms who you wanted to be? Is the present similar to what you have imagined? Yes, I’m the kind of a man who dreams in the morning with his eyes are open and I had pictured myself here when I was young. I believe a have a unique instinct through which I can see and anticipate what the future holds for me.
What was the best thing that ever happened to you in your career? The biggest milestone was establishing Omedia; a leading social media communication company in the Middle East which has been operating for the past two years, delivering comprehensive social media solutions to wide and prominent, both regional and local companies through a fully integrated selection of skills and services. It is a unique and innovative solution provider to aid the rise in the dot-com industry. I believe this was the leap in my career. Who are you thankful to? My mother has shown me great support all the way - I awe my success to her. What is your ambition? Who do you aspire to become? My ambition is a secret that I might not be able to reveal, but I believe it will be revealed on its own at the right time.
Which three adjectives describe your strengths best? I listen more than I talk, I have a good will for everybody and I’m a decision maker who never hesitates.

Launching this October, the 12 ultra-feminine, chic & sporty new watches in the Collection are perfect night or day accessories, ideal for dressing up or down. The racing-circuit aesthetics that made the Carrera an icon of classic sporting style— faceted horns, wide-open dial and a thin bezel for optimum readability at the wheel—are still in place but reinterpreted in a more feminine way. The stunning details, in contrasting black and white, give new urban glamour. Like Maria Sharapova, their sexy, feminine appeal is at the forefront, but so too is their resilience and versatility. The standout stars of the Carrera Lady Collection are: The Carrera Lady 32MM Quartz Replete with precious stones and shimmering high-polished finishings, this is a stunning piece of jewelry, available in special diamond editions (12 Top Wesseltons on the dial or 64 Top Wesseltons on the bezel), in all-steel or steel and solid rose gold (18K 5N), and with different dial choices, including silver with fine azurage detailing or gorgeous mother of pearl. Despite the richness,
the design is pure and minimal, with no minuterie track (on certain models), flange or second hand—only hour and minute. The Carrera Lady 28MM CALIBRE 9 AUTOMATIC After much demand a small and automatic Carrera Lady is now on offer, with a new Calibre 9 movement visible through the sapphire caseback, Like the quartz editions, the new Cal 9s are available in steel or steel and rose gold, different dial options and 12 diamonds on the dial or 56 diamonds on the fixed bezel. Each is an all-polished masterwork of Swiss engineering and craftsmanship. Like Maria, it will shine on the court or under the spotlights… Founded in Saint-Imier in 1860 by Edouard Heuer, TAG Heuer has marked the history of luxury watchmaking, especially in the fields of chronographs and ultimate precision. GIVENCHY Barber Edition GENTLEMAN’S ATTITUDE No. 1: BACK TO BEARDS!
Elegance shouldn’t be displayed; it should be noticed at first glance To give others the best version of oneself, through a subtle taste for beautiful things and good manners, is probably one of the secrets of the gentleman’s attitude. A groomed beard, regardless of its style, can get you into the highly exclusive gentlemen’s club with no need to be elected or have a membership card. This is why Givenchy has dreamed up the Barber Edition: a chic, vintage set featuring a bottle of Gentlemen Only Eau de Toilette – the neo-aromatic, woody fragrance and star men’s perfume of the House – and an aftershave balm with a soft, light texture.
GENTLEMAN’S ATTITUDE No. 2: TAME YOUR BEARD AND SAVE YOUR SKIN Being a gentleman is a matter of choice. Like immaculately polished shoes or a suit that fits to a tee, a beard offers the man who wears it a way to affirm his freedom and openly reveal his personality and elegance. Whether worn in a hipster, classic or casual chic fashion like Simon Baker in the Gentlemen Only advertising, beards are the unmistakable new attribute of assumed yet controlled virility. And because the skin always deserves to be soothed, Givenchy dedicates the Barber Edition’s aftershave balm to the most demanding gentlemen. This balm offers a blend of hydrating, repairing and purifying effects, soothes razor burn and tightness in the skin, softens the beard of men who choose to grow it, and deeply nourishes it.

GENTLEMAN’S ATTITUDE No. 3: TEN EXPERT TIPS FOR A PERFECT SHAVE
In truth, being a gentleman does not depend on the circumstances but rather on one’s attitude in certain circumstances. From the shaving ritual to everyday grooming, below are ten tips to help the perfect gentleman take care of his beard: Shave after showering (the hot water makes the skin supple and lengthens whiskers) and before eating, to avoid the risk of irritation and redness resulting from the chewing-induced influx of blood. Use a shaving brush to straighten whiskers and facilitate shaving. Do a weekly exfoliating scrub, the night before shaving, to eliminate dead skin and promote whisker growth. Use a shaving cream, which offers greater protection and a richer texture. The foam will soften whiskers and ensure a pleasant shave even for thick beards. After shaving, apply a small dab of Gentlemen Only balm to soothe the skin and deeply nourish the beard. Trim your beard at least once a week using beard scissors or a trimmer. A monthly visit to the barber is a must.
Wash your beard as often as your hair with a volumising shampoo to reveal its radiance. Brush your beard daily with a keratin comb (never plastic). Soften your beard every day with silk powder. Kiss your beloved tenderly with a soft, delicately fragranced beard.

Mercedes C-Class A class act for comfort
How small do you like your luxury cars? New in Kuwait, the German firm’s flagship has rightly established itself at the forefront of luxury cars and luxury car technology. The C-Class is the best-selling car to wear the three-pointed star worldwide with more than 2.4 million of them having left showrooms since the current car arrived in 2007.
(although lighter) the C-Class’s traditional Mercedes grille and “gunsight” bonnet badge is now available only as a special option and instead the sportier and more dominant badge is in front of a two-pronged grille.
That means this latest version has a pretty substantial reputation to follow when it arrives this summer so it’s no surprise Mercedes has pulled out all the stops to make it more refined than ever before.
The C-Class has grown to take account of people’s increasing average height. With an 80-millimetre increase in the wheelbase compared with the previous model, the vehicle is 95 millimetres longer and 40 millimetres wider. The result is a more spacious interior. At 480 litres the new C-Class also surpasses its predecessor in terms of boot capacity.
An analogy with the S-Class wouldn’t be out of place either. In terms of looks both inside and out, this new C isn’t entirely unlike its big brother.
Where the big S-Class has shown its luxury car rivals how to produce a staggeringly comfortable car so the C-Class does the same here.

Located in the southwest of the Indochinese peninsula, Cambodia occupies a total area of 181,035 square kilometers and borders Thailand to the west and northwest, Laos to the northeast, Vietnam to the east, and Gulf of Thailand to the southwest. Of all the Southeast Asian countries, Cambodia is perhaps the most neglected destination from a tourist’s point of view. The country is arguably known worldwide for two things: the magnificent Angkor Wat complex and two of the legacies of the Khmer Rouge -- land mines and security issues. Together these facets have worked historically to both attract and repel foreign tourists, resulting in a highly developed tourist infrastructure surrounding Siem Reap, the closest town to the Angkor Wat complex, while the rest of the country, from a tourism point of view, has developed at a far slower pace. Cambodia offers a wealth of destinations aside from Angkor Wat. For example, the capital, Phnom Penh, located roughly midway between Angkor Wat and the Vietnamese border, is beautiful in a dilapidated kind of way and has

developed into a decidedly cosmopolitan city with excellent eating and drinking available along with some great value and very unique places to stay. Cambodia offers an incredible range of scenic locales; from its azure seas and white sandy beaches to the mist shrouded mountains. And all throughout, the land an dit people is imbued with a rich cultural heritage to be found anywhere from our stony temples to the great lake of Tonle Sap, to our hill tribes of the mountain region.
There are many imaginable activities can be arranged during your holiday in the Kingdom of Cambodia. Select from the following activities to learn more about Cambodia’s diverse activities before or within your travel in Cambodia, such as visiting the Arts & Crafts Center, cruising and boating and exploring spas and massages, meditation in nature, cooking classes, scuba diving and enjoying the cultural manifestations. Some historically important places you need to visit should be on your itinerary in Phnom Penh, such as Tuol Sleng, the Killing Fields and
the National Museum. Boat cruises, cooking schools, an animal refuge, wet markets and the ever-scenic riverside boardwalk are all easy crowd-pleasers. Another bustling city that attracts a fraction of the visitors it deserves, Battambang in the west of the country is both an attractive riverside city in its own right but also a convenient hub for exploring the hinterland with its temples, Khmer ruins and the bamboo train. Easily reached by bus or share taxi, you can also reach it by boat from Siem Reap, crossing the Tonle Sap, in what can be an incredibly awesome and memorable trip! Another destination can be Siem Reap; the name literally means “Siam Defeated”. This once quaint village has become the largest boom town and construction site in Cambodia. It’s quite laid-back and a pleasant place to stay while touring the temples and a nice compromise between observing Cambodian life and enjoying the amenities of modern services and entertainment, thanks to a large expatriate community.
Since Siem Reap is a major tourist destination, prices in many instances are higher than elsewhere in Cambodia. Expect to receive almost constant offers for motodop and tuk-tuk rides, along with everything else which drivers may be able to offer to you. Be sure to pick up your free Siem Reap Angkor Visitors Guide and the equally free and useful Siem Reap Pocket Guide from your hotel/ guesthouse. It contains lots of info on Siem Reap and the Angkor Archaeological Park, including hotel, restaurant and shop info, travel info, and maps. While nearby Thailand may be better known for its island scene, the half-dozen or so islands off the Cambodian south coast are where it is at when it comes to the “new” islands of the region. Off the coast, Cambodia has a developing ecoish sustainable tourism scene, most famously centred around the Chipat area midway between Phnom Penh and Battambang where you can experience village life and grow to better appreciate what remains of Cambodia’s once-vast forests.

Further east again takes you to romantically named Mondulkiri and Rattanakiri provinces. Once considered Cambodia’s Wild East, these areas have been and continue to be ravaged environmentally, but there are highlights that remain; Banlung in the north can be used as a base for trekking in Virachey National Park and visiting nearby waterfalls. Cambodian culture and tradition have had a rich varied history dating back many centuries. Over the years, the people of Cambodia developed a set of unique tradition from the syncretism of indigenous Buddhism and Hinduism. Cambodians were raised to respect their culture and are very traditional in their way of life. Tourists will notice the well-mannered Cambodian expressing a friendly attitude when they meet one. There are many classical dance forms in Cambodia, of which a highly stylized art form was
once confined mainly to the courts of the royal palace and performed mainly by females. Known formally in Khmer as Robam Apsara, the dancers of this classical form are often referred to as Apsara dancers. This dance form was first introduced to foreign countries and best known during the 1960s as the Khmer Royal Ballet. The first royal ballerina was Princess Norodom Bopha Devi, a daughter of King Norodom Sihanouk. The Apsara Dance is particularly inspired by the style from around more than a thousand Apsara carvings in the Angkor temple complex. As evidenced in part by these Apsaras celestial dancers, dance has been part of the Khmer culture for more than a millennium. A visit to Cambodia is only complete when one has attended at least one such traditional dance performance. One more thing you do not want to skip through when you decide to go on a trip to Cambodia, that is, enjoying the native food and drink! Cambodians love a stronger sour taste in their dishes, and do not have a taste for spicy hot food, and black pepper is the preferred choice in cooking instead of chilli peppers which are usually served on the side. Fish is a main distinctive dish in Cambodia and you wil not leave Cambodia without tasting its flavour!
rice. If you are a great believer in fermented food, you should give it a try. It is always advisable to arrange your time to try the local food at least one time whenever you are planning for a trip. The standard tourist visa for Cambodia is 30 days. So we’d say that is a good starting point. In a month you could visit Angkor, Battambang, a couple of islands via Sihanoukville and then dash along the coast to Kep and Kampot before striking north to Phnom Penh, and continuing north to Laos via Kratie and Stung Treng. With two weeks you could easily see Siem Reap, an island, a bit of coast and the capital before moving on. One week, Angkor plus Phnom Penh or an island. No matter how you decide to spend your autumn vacation in Cambodia or how long you choose to stay there, be sure to indulge in all the pleasure this country is willing to offer to its tourists along with its exceptional culture which will enrich your mind, your memory with sights of beauty, and your heart with its friendly people. The most famous Cambodian dish is amok; usually made with chicken, fish, or shrimp, and some vegetables. Usually, fish is baked with coconut milk and lemongrass is wrapped in banana leaves. Amok is sometimes served in a hollowed-out coconut with rice on the side. This is somehow similar to Thai curried dish, but a little less spicy. Luscious Catering
shrimp surrounded by shrimp purée, dipped in crumbs and deep fried to achieve its golden crisp. Next, there came the lasagna rolls, stuffed with chopped wild mushrooms, topped with mozzarella cheese and sitting on a river of pink sauce. To our surprise, there arrived another extraordinary dish of a boat made from the classic Kebbeh’s exterior, holding few pieces of Sheesh Barak; a Lebanese wrap of dough stuffed with cooked minced meat and onions, deep fried and coated with yogurt, sitting on a bed of Lebanese oriental rice.
Tiny bites.. great delights!
The combination of ingredients used in the sweet items explains the fabulous texture and delicious taste in each bite. The chef shared with us some of his magical techniques and secret ingredients that translate into the little bites of pleasure we got to examine, such as the French Valrhona luxury chocolate, the fresh fruits and the fine assortment of nuts and garnish items.
The quote “True greatness consists in being great in little things.” By Charles Simmons describes Luscious Catering’s food items best. This in-house catering company, incorporates three main divisions cooperating together to provide a quality service offering an exquisite variety of food for every occasion. The mini bites, main course dishes and desserts - prepared and served by Luscious - are not only creatively assembled but also rich in flavor and high quality ingredients.
A very unique dessert was the rose macarons, garnished with an edible rose – tempting and elegant in pink, with a dash of an oriental taste of rose syrup in the filling. Next, we tasted the Pavlova, which consists of a meringue with a crisp crust and soft, light inside. Along came another dish with berries sitting between two layers of crispy and shiny Mille-feuille, filled with a pastry cream and drizzled in red sauce of berries.
As you walk into Luscious showroom, the menu items can be spotted at the showroom on display counters featuring an extensive line of delicious food items for kids and adults. The interior is relaxing and peaceful, mostly in baby green and baby pink on all sides. The Luscious menu offers up a variety of food items like Arabic and Western coffee sweets, cookies, finger sandwiches, canapés, cakes, cup cakes, cookies, lollipops, food and beverage stations, giveaways, a line of exquisite main dishes and desserts. Our first journey began with the tiny canapés – a group of assorted shapes of cons, flower-shaped and boat-shaped tarts stuffed with yummy fillings such as smooth labneh, creamy feta cheese, cheese with pesto, chicken musakhen,

The journey ended with an only one of its kind dish of warm sticky date pudding topped with a scoop vanilla ice-cream, melting directly onto the warm pudding – a beautiful kick from cold and hot and a reason why you would want to finish the plate so fast so that the ice-cream does not melt and the pudding does not go cold! mushrooms, assorted kebbeh and last but not least, the amazing tangy vine leaves – our and everybody’s favorite finger food, rolled in shiny and soft leaves, filled with its standard lemony stuffing and wearing a crown of ruby pomegranate seeds on top. The astonishing specialty of Luscious is the mini droppers that is inserted into each bite, each with a unique
sauce that suits its taste. The idea is to hold the dropper and press it to empty the sauce into the bite – an ideal concept that depicts the joy of eating while having fun at the same time. We moved on to the main course dishes. The first tasting experience was the Shrimp Hakasana with its dark and sharp dip, it consists of a whole
Luscious Catering definitely has the highest quality products and ingredients in all their items, their friendly and energetic staff is well-trained and have a very profound background in the food business. At Luscious, it is all about quality, flavor and service – three factors are ticked with absolute satisfaction and out of a very fine experience!
