our m i s s i on Thread is just a tool. It’s nothing special, and it can’t do much on its own. But oh boy what it can accomplish when paired up with the right material and a little creativity. This little project is a humble attempt to explore our city and its peoples. Finding those interesting materials that make up our communities, that creativity which provokes, instigates, and inspires. We want to tie it all together and see what happens. We want to ask around and see what’s up. If something is happening that people should know about, we want to make sure they do If something isn’t happening that should be, we want to help make it happen We want most of all to hear from you! What are you up to? What are you seeing? What are you doing? What are you thinking? What is life like out there, and how can we all share in it? Help give us a chance to tie it all

together, and let’s see what can happen.

Voting?!? "Elections Belong to the People" 14.19 percent of the voters in Greene came out to vote in the last election. 14.19 percent of registered voters represents just over 8.5 percent of the entire population of Greene County. There was only one item up for a vote by all of Greene County. A new sales tax. About 59 percent of those voting voted to approve the sales tax, that is barely 5 percent of the entire population of Greene County that approved a sales tax that affects everyone.

Up for a vote in 2018 (mostly in Nov. but some in April and Aug. elections) All of our State House seats are up for election, as well as our State Senate seat. Our Federal House Representative is up for election, as is one of our Federal Senators. Ballot initiatives A vote statewide to overturn RightToWork (in November) A Springfield vote to overturn the City Council’s PitBull ban (probably in August) Check your registration and learn more at sos.mo.gov/elections (don’t wait until the last minute, do it now if you’re gonna do it). You can get registered or ask questions at a Library or the County Clerk’s office. Important Dates

Election dates: 4/3, 8/7, 11/6 Last dates to register: 3/7, 7/11, 10/10 Information about Registering and Voting

When registering in person, applicants are required to present a form of personal identification. Missouri's new voting laws also require a form of identification besides a voter ID card be shown to vote. Here are their rules Option 1: Provide a Missouri issued Driver or NonDriver license, U.S. Passport, or Military ID Option 2: Provide a secondary form of identification, such as a paycheck or bank statement and sign a statement confirming their identity Option 3: If the voter has no form of identification, but is a registered voter, they may cast a provisional ballot Missouri’s photo voter ID law also requires the state of Missouri to assist voters who might not have a photo ID with the process of obtaining a free Missouri nondriver license for the purpose of voting.
