catching Pickleball fever! Pickleball fever!

Reunion Pickleball History

In October 2020, a small group of Reunion Empty Nesters started pickleball in our neighborhood. Pickleball lines were painted on tennis court #5 and several open play sessions were played each week. Currently, over 150 Reunion residents are playing pickleball, or have expressed an interest in playing and learning the sport. Like the national trend, many of the new players are younger. Sometimes thought of as a game for older Americans, statistics show the largest age bracket of players is 18–34-yearolds (28.8% of total). According to Pickleheads.com, there are now over 36 million pickleball players in the United States.

Groundbreaking On The New Courts

This summer, Reunion will have two dedicated pickleball courts! We broke ground in late April for the new courts. Construction is expected to be completed in early July!

Reunion Pickleball Growth

To support the continued growth in our neighborhood, new leagues are forming. Reunion will participate in the upcoming ALTA Pickleball summer league, scheduled July 10 through August 28. Come out on Monday evenings to support our teams! To help organize and grow our events, we have a new official partnership with DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating). This rating system is used by the world’s premier Pickleball clubs, professional tours, and recreational players. Each player’s skill level is listed in DUPR under their profile. You can download the DUPR app and join the Reunion Pickleball club. This app is used for neighborhood programming (clinics, leagues, and ladders), skill assessment, and tracks improvement.

You can find more information by signing up for DUPR, the Reunion Pickleball Facebook page or by contacting the Reunion Pickleball Committee at ReunionPickleball@gmail.com.
