ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Celebrate the 21st anniversary season of Broadway by the Year® with us, in what is bound to be the most exciting season, ever, in the storied history of this critically acclaimed series. Lauded across the board by publications such as Variety, Playbill, The Huffington Post, Time Out NY, and, of course, The NY Times — which called the series “Witty, breezily paced... informative...valuable.. the right perspective of lighthearted nostalgia.” Author/Critic Scott Siegel created Broadway by the Year® for The Town Hall, which he writes, directs, and hosts. Tony Award Winner, Macarthur Genius, and Broadway by the Year veteran, Bill Irwin refers to Siegel’s “rumpled charm,” with which the series host celebrates the great songs created for the Broadway stage and recounts, with humor, how they came to be.
SCOTT SIEGEL Scott Siegel is the author of 48 books, and has created more than 400 major concerts that have been performed all over the world. He has written/produced/directed concerts for Michael Feinstein, created scores of nightclub acts that have played at major clubs around the globe, but is, perhaps, best known as the creator/writer/director/host of town Hall’s signature series, Broadway by the Year®, which is currently celebrating its 21st critically acclaimed season. For more information about all of Scott’s shows, please visit Scott’s website at SiegelPresents.com
ROSS PATTERSON Ross Patterson’s career in music has been as varied and eclectic as the many styles he loves to play. After completing his studies at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Ross spent two years on the road as Musical Director for the Ice Capades before heading to NYC. There, he quickly became one of the most sought after pianists by singers. This led to musical directing, arranging and recording for many of the top cabaret artists in New York. He has been honored twice with the Backstage Bistro Award for outstanding musical direction. For its entire history, Ross has been the arranger, musical director and band leader for the critically acclaimed Broadway by the Year® concert series at The Town Hall.

TOUR THE HISTORIC TOWN HALL Town Hall has played an integral part in the electrifying cultural fabric of New York City for more than 90 years. A group of Suffragists’ fight for the 19th Amendment led them to build a meeting space to educate people on the important issues of the day. During its construction, the 19th Amendment was passed, and on January 12, 1921 The Town Hall opened its doors and took on a double meaning: as a symbol of the victory sought by its founders, and as a spark for a new, more optimistic climate. In 1921, German composer Richard Strauss performed a series of concerts that cemented the Hall’s reputation as an ideal venue for musical performances. Since, Town Hall has been home to countless musical milestones: The US debuts of Strauss, and Isaac Stern; Marian Anderson’s first New York recital; in 1945, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker introduced bebop to the world; Bob Dylan’s first major concert in ‘63; and much much more.
