We are most grateful and relieved that Scott Siegel continues to helm BBTY as well as Broadway Rising Stars. Many of you know that Scott was in a horrible accident last year. His recovery and his spirit were buoyed by many of you, who reached out to support him, kept up his spirits, and let him know how important he is to each of us. Everyone at Town Hall is appreciative of your efforts, we know it helped. We would also like to acknowledge Bank of America whose generous support makes Broadway by the Year possible. They truly believe the arts matter and are one of the leading corporate supporters of arts in the world, partnering with more than 2,000 nonprofit arts institutions annually. Their arts program is just one part of their commitment to grow responsibly while bringing value to economies, society and the communities they serve. Thank you, Bank of America, for being a good neighbor to Town Hall – we are grateful for your continued support. We would also like to thank The Edythe Kenner Foundation for their additional support over the many years. So, sit back, as we travel back to 1930 and 1964; two very good years for Broadway and for Town Hall. On behalf of the Trustees of Town Hall, thank you for joining us tonight.

A B O U T T HE P RO G RA M The critically acclaimed series has blossomed from an idea to what Show Business Weekly deems, “...an invaluable and entertaining jewel in the cabaret crown of New York.” Ticket sales have soared and stellar reviews have included The New York Times, which calls it, “Witty, breezily paced... informative ... valuable... the right perspective of lighthearted nostalgia...” Author/Critic Scott Siegel created the series for Town Hall, which he writes, directs, and hosts. Siegel takes audiences of all ages on a musical tour of the Great White Way, offering an entertaining verbal account of Broadway’s history. Each evening this season celebrates the songs from Broadway shows from two different years, divided only by an intermission. The songs are performed by a cast of handpicked Broadway and nightclub stars.
SCOTT SIEGEL Scott Siegel has created more than 300 major concerts that have been performed all over the world. He has written/produced/directed concerts for Michael Feinstein, created scores of nightclub acts that have played at major clubs around the globe, but is, perhaps, best known as the creator/writer/director/host of Town Hall’s signature series, Broadway by the Year®, which is currently celebrating its 19th critically acclaimed season. For more information about all of Scott’s shows, please visit Scott’s website at SiegelPresents.com

Ross Patterson’s career in music has been as varied and eclectic as the many styles he loves to play. After completing his studies at The Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Ross spent two years on the road as Musical director for the Ice Capades before heading to NYC. There, he quickly became one of the most sought after pianists by singers. This led to Ross musical directing, arranging and recording for many of the top cabaret artists in New York. He has been honored twice with the Backstage Bistro award for outstanding musical direction. For the past eighteen years Ross has been the arranger, musical director and band leader for the critically acclaimed Broadway by the Year® concert series at The Town Hall.

TOUR THE HISTORIC TOWN HALL Town Hall has played an integral part in the electrifying cultural fabric of New York City for more than 90 years. A group of Suffragists’ fight for the 19th Amendment led them to build a meeting space to educate people on the important issues of the day. During its construction, the 19th Amendment was passed, and on January 12, 1921 The Town Hall opened its doors and took on a double meaning: as a symbol of the victory sought by its founders, and as a spark for a new, more optimistic climate. In 1921, German composer Richard Strauss performed a series of concerts that cemented the Hall’s reputation as an ideal venue for musical performances. Since, Town Hall has been home to countless musical milestones: The US debuts of Strauss, and Isaac Stern; Marian Anderson’s first New York recital; in 1945, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker introduced bebop to the world; Bob Dylan’s first major concert in ‘63; and much much more.
