THE TREEHOUSE + CO HOLIDAY LOOKBOOK 2021
It's November, y'all, and the festive season has officially started. We've been anticipating this month all year. It's as if we're elves in Santa's workshop when The Treehouse +Co kitchen and shipping department is in full swing. Welcome to the holiday guide. Each purchase benefits our 501c3 Friends of the Treehouse, supporting those experiencing loss, grief, and crisis. I love the holidays for many reasons, but number one is having designated time to get together with folks with whom we share ties, friendships, and even DNA. So Kim and I are taking a road trip to South Georgia for Thanksgiving, the first time my whole family has been together around a table since Christmas 2019. We are all cooks in my family, but I have the honor of making the menu. Since my mother's passing, I've stepped into the role of matriarch of the kitchen, which is a massive honor if you knew my mom. Whenever we get together, I usually prepare a meal or dish from our childhood that evokes a memory.
I believe food and certain meals serve as a repository for recollection and respect. Making those dishes allows us to remember and honor our mothers, aunts, grandparents, or anyone who has shared their table with us. In recent years, I've been putting my spin on traditional holiday dishes. This month, I'll be sharing some of my favorites on Instagram and Facebook, which I hope my nephews will continue one day. My rule of thumb when it comes to holiday menu planning. Never cook a dish because it's a tradition. If you know that no one at the table likes it. Don't make it. Try a twist or replacement. Always make something that people will enjoy. It will always result in a festive table full of happy individuals. Happy holidays,
