Tracie is the Director of Intuitive African Dance and Drum Culture which was created to connect the dots between traditional West African drum and dance rhythms to music and dance throughout the diaspora. “This is not taught in the history books,“ states Tracie. “Helping people understand how these meanings can be applied in present day is what we do best.”

Let’s Get Culturally Fit!

Tracie is a person who has an unquenchable thirst for cultural knowledge as it relates to and is displayed through dance and drum. “The traditional drum and dance rhythms of the countries of West Africa are centuries old, steeped in meaning and are the foundation of many music and dance genres across the world,” states Tracie.

Music as Healing

Creating safe and healthy community is essential for our well-being and IADDC chose to pivot towards the positive and initiated pop-up classes in outdoor spaces to keep people connected at the height the COVID-19 pandemic.

Healthy Fun for Everyone

People are happy when they dance.

Dancing to drums and learning the meaning of traditional West African drum and dance rhythms not only provides a mental, physical and spiritual release, but it also provides a cultural connection for those who have been cut off from their roots.

Signature Initiatives

Community classes are open to everyone regardless of experience. Instructional classes are available for professional dance and drum artists. In addition, performance opportunities are available to those trained in dance and drum. C all 713-303-3935 today to register for classes.
