COGOP hosts conference to connect the next generation to influential leaders

CAMERON SAUNDERS

MEMBERS of the Church of God of Prophecy’s (COGOP) National Youth Ministry will host its inaugural “Ask Me Anything” on Friday, October 13, 2023.

Organisers said the event aims to bring together people from different backgrounds and experiences to share life from their perspective.

“This event's format allows participants to engage with influential leaders up close and personally. Features will converse and answer participant questions in groups of no more than 10 for up to 15 minutes. The feature will rotate in 15-minute intervals, allowing each person to sit at a table with each feature throughout the night,” the organisers said. Featured participants will include Member of Parliament for Sea Breeze Leslia

Brice (Politics and Social Impact); Keith Roye (Technology and Innovation); Brunay Clarke (Music), Bishop Nathaniel Beneby Jr, CMG (Business and Economy); Farreno Ferguson (Multimedia); Minister Mericha Walker (Religion); Ricardo Deveaux (Education) and Jamiah Nabbie (Sports).

Katherine Beneby II, one of the organisers, said: “As our country recognises National Youth Month, this is a great opportunity for our nation’s youth and young adults to connect with impactful leaders in a welcoming environment.”

The conversations, she said, are expected to promote diversity, provide inspiration, and create opportunities.

“Years ago I was inspired by the international movement Human Library. It's all about bringing together

people from different backgrounds and experiences to share one-on-one or in small groups. This passion led to the launch of the Bahamian Exchange, which we hosted for five years,” she said.

“I was asked to rebrand the concept with COGOP National Youth Ministry and we are happy to introduce ‘Ask Me Anything’ (AMA). This is a great event for youth and young adults to connect with influential leaders up close and personal,” Katherine shared with her social media followers.

AMA is set to be held at COGOP East Street Chapel, beginning at 7pm. Tickets are on sale at $25 per person and are available at AOS, Victoria House, 5th Terrace, Centreville, or Consumer Choice Auto Parts, Blue Hill Road.
