Nature, Food, Art & Inspiration SO MU C H MO RE TO EXPLORE

Nature Majestic mountains including Mt Jerusalem and Wollumbin Mt Warning (part of an ancient volcano) are framed by the vast spread of the Border Ranges. An array of rivers and creeks flow into this lush green expanse. On the coastline, the Pacific Ocean adorns the Tweed Coast from Duranbah (D-Bah to locals) in the North through the surfing towns of Kingscliff and Cabarita; complete with its famous headland and point break.

Food The Tweed is an expansive, thriving food bowl…fact (it is actually an ancient Caldera, a large volcanic crater formed by a major eruption leading to the collapse of the mouth of the volcano). The area is famous for the ideal climate and rich red volcanic soil which leads to rich farmlands and beautiful produce. Award winning chefs choose to live and work in the Tweed because of the abundance of this prime local produce on offer. From the best in restaurants to farmers markets, farmgates and tasting tours – the Tweed will satisfy!

Art Our home is a thriving arts scene with local artist studios showcasing pottery, painters, textile makers and street artists…and we love it. Murwillumbah is the central arts town and The Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre is perched high above Murwillumbah township as the undeniable jewel. New development ‘M-Arts’ is transforming the CBD with restaurants, bars, and artists in residence sharing in this industrial Art Deco space.

Suggested Itinerary A TA S T E O F T HE T WE E D

Day 1 Base yourself in Kingscliff with a day required to relax and enjoy browsing through the many boutiques, and cafĂŠ culture offering coffee and tasty treats. As the sun goes down a responsibly enjoyed lager can be sampled in many seaside venues (for thirst quenching purposes) and the local pub is famous for bringing the best live music to town.

Day 2 After a morning on the beach it’s over to Fingal. Try one of the region’s artisan bakeries for a delicious lunch before casting a line for a spot of fishing on the Tweed River through the afternoon. As the sun starts to set, check out the Fingal’s famous causeway (have you seen the front cover of this book?) and the beautiful lighthouse for Instagrammable moments (and lasting memories).

Day 3 It’s time to hit the valley. Drive through Murwillumbah (pit stop for coffee) en-route to Wollumbin Mt Warning, and have a walk through the Gondwana World-heritage listed rainforest on the Lyrebird track. Have lunch in the eclectic atmosphere of Tyalgum with mountain views never far away. Finally celebrate the day with a distillery door in Tumbulgum before indulging in a glamping experience at one of our Tweed Coast Holiday Parks.
