About the Magazine
The Ultimate Black Man Magazine was created in 2009 by Author Renetta Cochran, to recognize, honor and feature Black Men for their outstanding accomplishments. The Ultimate Black Man Magazine is different and unique to a market where the images of our Black Men are generally negative and demeaning. Our main focus is to feature the everyday average Black Man and give him the positive image he deserves. OUR MISSION STATEMENT: To promote Integrity, Leadership, Economic and Educational Responsibility of the Community with positive images of the African American Man around the Globe.
DESCRIPTION: The Ultimate Black Man Magazine will target males of all ages. With our global market, the magazine has a universal message: Community Social Education Healthy Living Adequate Health Care Economic and Entrepreneurial Awareness Leadership Empowerment Servitude Knowledge Information We are always looking for writers, graphic designers and advertisers for our magazine that currently have a global following. Hi, I am Tarnesa Martin, Your Patient Resource & Community Advocate. Most of you know, I was born and raised in Flint, I went to Brownell Elementary, Holmes Middle School and graduated from Northwestern High school. I grew up in Flint and love being connected and supporting Flint which is why I am taking a stand for the city that raised me and taught me how to be strong and resilient. The last 12 years of my life was spent managing a 50-bed medical -surgical renal unit which I absolutely loved because it gave be an opportunity to care for a diverse population of staff, patients, families, and residents from the community. Leaving my job as a manager was a leap of faith and an answer to a call from God that I had to make to help the city of Flint “Be Healthy and make better Healthcare Choices”. Choosing to Be Healthy is not a Topic, it is a lifestyle that impacts our everyday routine and how we choose to live. I have experienced family members, friends, patients, and community
residents die too soon from chronic medical conditions because they did not have the education, encouragement, and resources to help confront and conquer the contributing factors of Heart Failure, Stroke, Diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Kidney Disease. On April 19th, 2021, I was appointed The Patient Resource & Community Advocate for Hurley Medical Center, which serves as a community liaison for identified health concerns, focusing on community education and health related resources to reduce disparities and improve access to care for the un

I have worked in several positions at Hurley which include Ortho Trauma Surgery, Renal, Cardiac, Rapid Response and Case Management. I have also taught nursing clinicals as an adjunct clinical instructor for both Baker College and University of Michigan – Flint.

I am Latravious Whetstone born and raised in Goodwater, AL. A very small country town in Central Alabama. Graduated from Coosa Central High School, same as NFL players Justin Tuck (NYG), Adalius Thomas (BAL), and NBA player Jamario Moon (Tor, Mia, Cavs) In 2008. I moved to Chattanooga Tn immediately after graduation. Attended Chattanooga state community college briefly. Born and raised in Flint, MI and a graduate of Beecher High School. Second youngest of 6 children and affectionately known as “Rugg.” Being a father figure to many, he had to over come many obstacles by raising his children as a single father! Today, Doug is a semi-truck driver, a father of 6, and grandfather of 5.
On December 22, 1954, Michael was born in Louisiana to Maple and Arthur. He would later relocate to Michigan, where he married Gloria Randle and from that union, there are three children and three grandchildren. Michael started working for General Motors Fisher Body. He attends New Jerusalem FGBC, formally under the leadership of the late Bishop Odis A. Floyd, where he has been playing drums for the past 40 plus years.
1929-2014
Mr. Leslie Randle was born in Mississippi to John and Sara Randle. Mr. Randle served in the Korean War from 1951-1957. He later married Mildred (Smith) and from that union they had 7 children. They relocated to Flint, Michigan, so that he could begin working for General Motors. After loosing wife Mildred to breast cancer in 1975, he would later marry Betty (Davis). At the time of his passing, he left 8 children, 19 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
Calvin Hightower is 76 years old and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who has been married for 40 years. He has been a father to over 10 children and lots of grandchildren. He has devoted his life to ministering the word of God to his family and whoever he comes in contact with.

One of the things I love the most about my life is fatherhood. I’m very supportive in any way that I can be. I show up as often as l possibly can and being supportive in the challenges they face. I work two jobs and then some to make sure that everything that they need will be provided. Being a provider is HUGE with me. As a mother, there has been no greater gift than witnessing, first hand, Kalon’s unconditional love for his children. Having seen Kalon value education, for example, by turning the dining room into a classroom for learning and teaching has reinforced the love he has for his children and the strong desire for them to succeed. In addition, he prays with them and enjoys spending quality time. He is a phenomenal Father that leads by example. His commitment to country, family and faith speak volumes.
