What he wanted… I work in financial services in Docklands. Though I sometimes work from home, it’s very much an in-office job and I love it! I live with my parents in Peckham, south east London, and really want my own place. I don’t want to move too far from my family and friends but also want to be close to work as I often work long hours. The ideal place for me would be Greenwich or Deptford, which are just over the river from work. I am looking for a one bedroom apartment with a balcony in a good development with a nice community. I’m a social guy, so I like to be close to places where I can meet up with friends, and have some good places to explore close by. Transport links are also pretty important – I need to be close to DLR links to the Docklands so I can get into work quickly. I have a deposit of £15,000 and an overall budget of around £200,000.”

What he thought… This isn’t an area I know that well at all, despite having some relatives close by. It’s an interesting proposition, as I know there’s a great deal of regeneration and renewal in the area, which is always a good sign. I also know that Charlton Village is very popular with locals – my cousins are always going there at weekends – and it sounds like a nice alternative to Greenwich. The properties are super stylish – I am particularly impressed with the kitchens and vast glass balconies – I can really see myself chilling out and with friends here.”
If I moved here I’d never be late for work, that’s for sure – I could cycle there in around 10 minutes, which would be amazing. I should think there are some really special views – especially from the communal gardens. I’ve always loved the idea of a roof terrace; it would be great to have additional outdoor space, as well as the opportunity to get to know the neighbours. This is a super location but I think I’d like to be just that little bit further away from work so that I can separate my working and non-working lives!”
