TEACHING

TEACHING IS ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING PROFESSIONS. OUR COURSES HELP YOU DEVELOP THE CONFIDENCE TO BE AN OUTSTANDING, CREATIVE AND CRITICALLY-REFLECTIVE TEACHER AND MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD. Informed by research and constantly reviewed, our courses ensure you are up-to-date with the latest developments in primary education. We cover the core curriculum subjects, the full range of wider foundation subjects and you can personalise your professional portfolio with a specialist subject. You study the skills needed to develop as a highly effective classroom practitioner, as well as exploring the broader purposes of education, education theory and current issues. Our partnerships with over 400 schools give you excellent opportunities to gain experience and develop as a skilled practitioner.

“All my placements have been organised for me, which helped take the pressure off. So far I’ve been in lovely mainstream schools within Hampshire, but as we go further into the degree there are more opportunities for special placements and opportunities to study abroad.”

You have the opportunity to take a sandwich year either as an overseas study/placement or an enhanced UK placement, including special educational schools, pupil referral units and hospitals. We are recognised by Ofsted as a provider of Outstanding Initial Teacher Training in England (2017 inspection) and we are proud to be ranked in the top 10 UK universities for overall student satisfaction (National Student Survey 2018).
