WELCOME TO WINCHESTER!
The University of Winchester and Winchester Student Union have created this Welcome Guide to help you make the most of your first week with us and help you kick start your University career.
WHAT IS WELCOME WEEK?
Over 2,000 new students will be joining us for Week 0 (Monday 11 to Friday 15 September) before Semester 1 officially starts on Monday 18 September 2023
Some students will be moving into our University Managed Housing on Arrivals
Weekend (Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September 2023), whereas others will join us later in the week, but all students will be invited to complete their in-person checks for enrolment and to collect their ID cards and welcome pack.
During this week students are also expected to attend their Faculty or Programme Induction Sessions, where they can meet their academic team and course mates. Please check your emails for a link to your Enrolment and Welcome Week Schedule.
There will also be an opportunity to get involved in a wide-range of activities and events throughout the week – check out the inside of this booklet to see over 70+ events listed on the Welcome Week wall planner.
SEEKING FURTHER INFORMATION, ADVICE OR GUIDANCE
Our dedicated Student Support and Success team provides information, advice, support and guidance on many aspects of student life and we are available online and on campus during Arrivals Weekend, Welcome Week and throughout the semester.

We will also be hosting an Information and Enquires Hub during Arrivals Weekend (Saturday and Sunday, 10am-6pm) and Welcome Week (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) in the Learning Café in the King Alfred Centre (next to main reception on King Alfred Quarter – number 12 on the map).
Staff from Student Support and Success, Admissions and Students and Money will be on hand to help with any issues or queries.
If you are having issues with setting up your IT account, getting access to Wi-Fi on Eduroam or any other IT issues, please either visit one of the Knowledge and Digital Services (KDS) points at Martial Rose Library (number 13 on the map), West Downs Library (number 28 on the map) or the Multimedia Counter (number 8 on the map), Email ServiceDesk@winchester.ac.uk or call 01962 827654.
Plus, our friendly Student Helpers in bright yellow t-shirts (you can’t miss them) will be on hand – just find one of our ‘Ask a Student’ stands located across campus.
