Day 1: Bar Harbor, ME (D) Be awed by the beauty and diversity of Mt. Desert Island, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park over the next five days and see why people have been drawn to the rugged coast of Maine throughout history. During our drive to Maine you will have plenty of time to meet new friends and get to know your Upper Class Tour Director. Arriving in Bar Harbor, Maine, you’ll immediately understand why this town was originally called Eden… from the Downeast character, to the rocky shores, to the famous Maine Lobster. You’ll check into to your AAA Three-Diamond Bar Harbor Grand Hotel. With its great downtown location, the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel offers first class amenities and personal service as you enjoy four nights on “the most beautiful Island in America.” Tonight a special welcome dinner is in store as you head for that quintessential Maine tradition – a Downeast Lobster Bake. Gather around the steamers with your appetite and camera when the covers are lifted to reveal a colorful blend of lobsters, mussels, corn on the cob and red potatoes amidst a cloud of steam. Non-seafood options are available. Day 2: Bar Harbor, ME (B) Meet your local guide for a morning tour of Acadia National Park. See the beauty that has attracted folks to this area for years. Keep your camera handy for photo stops atop Cadillac Mountain, at Thunder Hole and Sandy

Beach. You’ll drive the Park Loop Road for breathtaking views of ocean, mountains, and forests. The park is home to a wide variety of plants and animals, and the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic coast. After lunch on your own in Bar Harbor, you’ll visit one of Bar Harbor’s most popular museums and enjoy an entertaining and educational presentation on lobstering from a local fisherman at the The Mount Desert Oceanarium, one of the few remaining lobster hatcheries in the world. The Lobster Hatchery and Museum is heralded for its support of education and preserving a Maine way of life. At the Maine Lobster Museum, you’ll view a retired Lobster boat and other tools of the trade and enjoy the stories and company of local and retired lobstermen. Here you will learn about Maine’s lobster industry and about the lobster’s life outside of the kitchen. Then tour the adjacent Maine Lobster Hatchery to see how baby lobsters are raised from eggs to the stage where they can survive easily on their own in the wild. Day 3: Portland, ME (B, D) This morning, we’ll head for historic Portland for a guided tour, including a stop at Portland Head lighthouse – Maine’s oldest and also the most photographed! Next you’ll take a private, guided tour of another nearby lighthouse that is not normally open to the public. This lighthouse is accessed via a granite jetty (those un-
