Questions & Answers I am in my 40s and would like to keep up with this season’s trends without appearing like I’m having a midlife crisis? What are the key trends for men this spring/summer that I could do? Hot from the Pringle of Scotland catwalk show, turtlenecks make a return this season. They can be very sexy and great for all ages, though avoid if you have a short neck or are carrying weight. Wear under a casual or formal jacket and for the preppy look under a v-neck jumper.

There’s loads of denim in the shops at the moment. I love the look of denim jacket and jeans but can you do double denim? Yes you can. This trend is a hit with male celebrities including David Beckham and Zac Effron. The weight and texture of the denims can vary, but ideally match the tone i.e. light with light, dark with dark. If you do want to contrast, make sure the darker denim is on your bottom half.

Q A
I’m a young guy in my 20s. What styles are on trend this season?
Think slick, styled and strong! Men… time to get grooming, it’s all about appearing smart and sophisticated, forget the out of bed look and opt for a style with military precision. Trend setters this season include David Beckham, Prof. Green, Scott Disick and don’t forget the TOWIE boys!
Q
My hair is all one length but I’m thinking about having a fringe. What’s in vogue for 2012?

I’ve just had a baby and I’m losing a lot of hair. Are there any products which might help?
Normally, you lose about 100 to 125 hairs a day, but after having a baby, you may be losing about 500 a day. This can be very disturbing, but try not to worry too much — you won’t go bald! Although products cannot prevent this from happening, making sure your hair is in prime condition will help make you and your hair feel much better. Add some TLC with mild Cease Hair Salon protein based shampoos, 69 Queens Road, Leicester, helping to strengthen Leicestershire LE2 1TT the hair, and treatments 0116 270 2888, such as Moroccan Oil www.ceasesalon.com which will ensure it’s kept in great condition. Try to reduce the number of times you wash your hair per week and soften up on the brushing.

Fringes will dramatically change your style, whether soft and side-swept or fierce and full. They can hide a multitude of sins, flattering your face shape and giving instant ‘wow factor’ to even the simplest of styles. Easy to maintain and style, you’ll be wondering why you’ve not got one already. Steer clear of the kitchen scissors though, and head to the salon to be a trend setter!

Add some TLC with mild protein based shampoos, helping to strengthen the hair, and treatments such as Moroccan Oil.
I’m a brunette but now that it’s spring, I want to revitalise the colour of my hair. What would you suggest?
Adding a few highlights in a warm gold or toffee colour will automatically transform a solid brunette colour and give you a soft romantic look for spring. If you prefer a whole spring clean makeover, a semi-permanent colour adding depth and richness to your own locks would be the way to go, with no regrowth and an easy colour to maintain.

NUTRITION, LIFESTYLE & EYES We are what we eat, as the old adage goes, has never been more apt than when considering our eyesight.
T
he gift of seeing is something most of us take for granted, but unfortunately not many people are aware that just like teeth, eyes are something we need to look after. From infancy to old age there are precautions we can take, activities we can enjoy and food we can eat; all of which can help our eyes stay healthy. Spending time in the great outdoors has shown to have great benefits for our eyes. Every hour a child spends playing

outside per week reduces the chance of developing short sightedness by 2%. Excessive computer and mobile phone usage has led to an increase in this condition. Exercising is also great for the eyes. Those with an active lifestyle are 70% less likely to develop a sight threatening condition (Wet Macula Degeneration) than those with a sedentary lifestyle. So maintaining healthy eyes is just another reason to do exercise.
Smoking is a major cause of sight damage. Smokers are 3 times more likely to develop a sight threatening condition than non-smokers. The good news is that developing the condition is reduced if you quit smoking. Giving up smoking for 1 year reduces the likelihood of suffering sight loss by 7%. A healthy diet for good vision includes brightly coloured fruits and dark leafy vegetables. Fish, eggs and foods that are low in saturated fats, salt and added sugars are all considered to be good for the eyes.
The following is a list of some nutrients that are required for healthy eyes: Lutein and Zeaxanthin – a lack of these can result in sight loss. They are found in Kale and Spinach, also egg yolks and yellow peppers. Vitamin C – associated with a reduced risk of cataracts. Found in citrus fruits. Omega-3 essential fatty acids – may reduce the risk of dry eyes and offer other health benefits. Found in oily fish. Vitamin supplements are also available for those who are not getting a varied diet. Please speak to your optician who will be able to advise you on the most appropriate supplement for your eyes.
Living an active life, spending time outdoors, eating a balanced diet, not smoking and being aware of family history of eye problems can all contribute to healthy eyes.
And finally please make sure you have an eye examination every year, to check not only your vision but also the health of your eyes and general health. If you have any questions about anything in this article please call the practice or email me.

O
ne of many lasting memories of a magical trip to Sri Lanka is sitting looking down on the tea plantations way above Kandy, tucking into the house special – oxtail curry - the meat falling away from the bones in its sticky, rich lentil sauce. It is very fashionable at the moment in foodie circles to re-ignite passion for those forgotten cuts of meat and I wholeheartedly welcome it. So at the weekend I called in at my local butcher and bought some oxtail and set about recreating that wonderful dish I had enjoyed all those years ago in the mountains of Sri Lanka. So if you fancy a new twist on an old cut of meat, then give this a whirl.
Ingredients:
1.5kg oxtail, 1 onion chopped, 2 sticks celery, 3 garlic cloves finely grated, 1 x 400g tin chopped tomatoes, 2 tbsp tomato purée, 50ml malt vinegar, 50g brown sugar, 2 tbsp panch puren, 2 tbsp garam masala, 2 sticks of cinnamon, 1 beef stock cube, 2 tbsp ground cumin, chilli to taste, 150g red lentils, salt & pepper, vegetable oil, freshly chopped coriander to serve.
Method:
n Toss the oxtail in 1 tbsp
garam masala & 1 tbsp cumin with a good slug of vegetable oil and bake at 200C/400F for 20 mins to brown well. n Meanwhile put the chopped onion & celery into a saucepan with 2
tbsp vegetable oil, put the lid on and cook slowly for 10 mins. Remove the lid, turn the heat up, add the panch puren, 1 tbsp cumin, chopped chillies and fry on a high heat for 2 mins. Add the garlic, stock cube, tomatoes plus 3 empty tomato tins full of water, tomato purée, vinegar, sugar, lentils and bring to the boil, seasoning well with salt and pepper. n Pour the juices over the meat, cover the dish tightly with foil and put back into the oven lowering the temperature to 160C/325F for 2-3 hours. n The oxtail needs to be covered in runny liquid to cook, so make sure it fits snugly in the oven dish. Add extra water if needed. n Once the oxtail is tender, taste, season well with salt and add some fresh coriander and the remaining tbsp of garam masala. Serve with rice, naan, creamy mash or crusty bread.

amounts of shellfish from the UK. Indeed, many of the langoustines enjoyed by diners in Spain were caught off the west coast of Scotland. So, why is our beautiful shellfish being exported for others to enjoy? Well, simply because there is a large market for our fishermen to tap into and there is generally a greater appreciation for this commodity in other parts of Europe.
We have all enjoyed excellent shellfish while on holiday abroad, from Paella in Spain, to Spaghetti alle Vongole in Italy, to the classic Fruits de Mer in France. To help allay some of the fears about cooking seafood, here are two simple and delicious recipes to get you started. Shellfish, particularly oysters and mussels are in prime season now, so what are you waiting for?! Zoe and Nigel Brady are seafood enthusiasts and are the owners of Brady’s Fish & Seafood Market on Allandale Road, Leicester, LE2 2DA. Please contact us on info@bradysseafoodmarket.com for further tips and information.
Recipes: King Scallops with Chorizo and sage butter n Heat a dry frying pan and add some roughly sliced quality chorizo for about 3-4 mins until cooked and the oils are released. n Quickly add some butter and tear up the sage into the butter, so it becomes well coated. n Then place the scallops in the flavoured butter and sear each side for approx. 2 mins. n Turn out onto a plate and serve with a chunk of bread to mop up the juices, and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough‌ heaven!
Thai Curried Mussels n Take a large saucepan
or stock pot and pour in half a jar of Laksa paste or spicy Thai curry paste and cook for about a minute so it becomes pungent and fragrant. n Then pour in the contents of one can of coconut milk and two tablespoons of fish sauce into the mixture and allow to simmer for a further minute. n Then tip in approx. 750g of mussels, stir through the sauce once, place the lid on top and allow to cook for 3 mins or until the shells are open. n Pop the pan in the middle of the table, sprinkle with finely chopped coriander and pour a glass of either Chardonnay from Burgundy or a slightly chilled Pinot Noir. Then get stuck in. Sauce dribbles on the chin are mandatory!

Bedroom Boutique
Although the function of the bedroom has remained unchanged for centuries, we are aspiring to a much more luxurious, design led environment, and after all, bathrooms and bedrooms form a whole, and so should be designed in complimentary style.

ncreasingly, these rooms are united in one single space, with the emphasis on well-being, calm and serenity, in a luxurious atmosphere. On average 50 per cent of individuals have difficulty getting to, or staying asleep, so by using good design and exploiting the function of a bedroom we can all enjoy a better night’s sleep. Architects and developers have recognised the demand for this type of living space and subsequently are splitting the proportions of bedroom spaces to accommodate the different functions of bathing, sleeping and dressing.
Beds that appear to float using clear Perspex <<supports as shown in this Barcode bed We are seeing this in new build proposals, whereby bedroom spaces may be slightly smaller to allow for larger dressing and bathing areas. Equally in renovation projects, we are suggesting smaller sleeping areas, to allow for other zones that provide this ‘boutique hotel’ style of living.
Dressing areas are becoming an organised space, with countless options for variations of hanging, storing and shelving to suit every aspect of one’s wardrobe.
Any woman out there who competes with ‘Carrie Bradshaw’ on the fashion front can now recreate the ultimate dressing space with ease. Wardrobes have come a long way; they’re becoming part of the architecture of a room as opposed to an item of free-standing furniture. The sleek built in styles now provide a Narnia of storage solutions, that range from LED illuminated lighting rails, pull-down hanging rails for easy access, compartments and pull-out options for every garment type.
All aspects are considered from the interior finish to the doors and handle
types. Doors can be in all shades and functions; natural wood materials to sleek matt and gloss lacquered finishes.
Ensure soft lighting for bedtime reading, all lighting should be controllable from the bedside. Ultimately design is influenced by the way we live, so by consulting a design professional who can understand your lifestyle and needs, your
daily routine can become a more pleasurable and effective experience.

Sliding doors are a great solution for tight spaces. Whatever you have in your home should be there for a reason, cluttered bedrooms and over furnished spaces can be detrimental to relaxation. Creating a visually calming environment that is clutter free, can only help to free the mind and ensure a plentiful slumber. With so many options in bed furniture, the compositions are endless. Upholstery has returned combined with sleek design to offer a much softer sleeping sanctuary. Oversized quilted headboards are becoming a design-must along with clever use of materials, textures and lighting. to create illusions of space. Lighting is the most under estimated factor in all living spaces, but is crucial in a bedroom suite environment; it can help to create various moods or atmospheres. As your body winds down, so should the lighting, using dimmer switches and decorative lighting help to achieve this.

Road Test of Hyundai i40 1.7 CRDi Style
Hyundai, as a car manufacturer, is a relative newcomer having started car production as late as1968.

good cars in fact. The latest product to come from Hyundai is the i40 saloon, recently released following the very good reception afforded to the estate car bodied i40 Tourer at the end of 2011. Time was spent with the 1.7 CRDi Style automatic and a very pleasing time it was.
The 1.7 litre diesel engine gave excellent performance over a predetermined route and motorway cruising was relaxed, the car benefiting from a 6 speed automatic gearbox. This in turn helped deliver respectable fuel economy in spite of fairly hurried driving. The style of the saloon is curvy but angular with all the key points of
the car’s overall design having relevance and no unnecessary features or clutter. This design thinking also applies to the versatile Tourer, which does not sacrifice style over function but does not let function get in the way of style. The interior is well laid out with the prominent dashboard being of a “V” shape giving an almost extruded style to it. Prominently located is the easy to use touch-sensitive navigation system that also acts as the screen for the reversing camera system. Also incorporated is a quite superb audio system with full iPod connectivity. The sound quality is of great depth and clarity and betters some systems found in more expensive cars. The driving position is comfortable with electric seat adjustment, dual zone climate control and very clear and intuitive
instrumentation. Driving the car leads to the inevitable question of what sort of person will ultimately buy this car. Undoubtedly it will appeal to the corporate car market with the i40’s available low CO2 Blue Drive models and the choice of saloon and estate body styles. It will however have a much further reach as it should be seriously considered by anyone who is looking to downsize from a bigger car without wanting to sacrifice creature comforts, convenience and ultimately ‘toys’. It will appeal to families who are looking for good interior space and layout, coupled with enormous boot capacity. It will most of all, appeal to people who want an exciting looking car from a manufacturer that has the ability and business sense to offer all their cars with a 5 year, unlimited mileage warranty. Yes, you read it right, a 5 year, unlimited mileage warranty.
Definitely then, a car for all reasons.

eicester Tigers boast a remarkable run of success with appearances in the Premiership Final in each of the last seven seasons and two trips to Europe’s Heineken Cup Final in the last five years. There are no ‘flashes in the pan’ at Tigers; the club is geared to consistently being in the shake-up for honours and to producing and nurturing top-class talent in the playing squad. Seven of the current squad have been selected in England’s Elite Player Squad for 2012, with more waiting in the wings with the ‘understudy’ England Saxons and Under-20 squads, including the World Junior Player of the Year, George Ford. The biggest and best

support in club rugby plays a huge part, too, with Tigers backed by crowds topping 20,000 week in, week out at Welford Road, all getting behind world-class talents like Toby Flood, Martin Castrogiovanni and Alesana Tuilagi. And there is a record of success too in spotting young talent and taking it right to the top, with the likes of Tom Croft, Dan Cole, Ben Youngs and Manu Tuilagi coming through the ranks from Academy to first-team and on into the international spotlight. If you’re a lad’s lad or a dad’s lad, a busy dad or a chilled-out dad then Welford Road has something for you. Josh and Tom joined us as part of the Matchday
Mascot experience, bringing their dads for the cup match against Newcastle. The boys started the day with free milkshakes in the Junior Tigers Club VIP area of the stadium then, with dads Andy and Ralph proudly in tow, they watched the players warm up from the sidelines and got ready to run out with the teams ahead of kick-off. Josh and Tom loved their matchday experience and it’s just one of a host of the ways you can enjoy an exciting day in the company of the Tigers. As a young player you could take part in the Prima Tiger Cup or play Aviva Tag Rugby, or if you come to a game as part of a Group Booking you can have the opportunity to welcome the teams on the pitch as part of the Guard of Honour, or join
the Half-Time Kicking Competitions, or see behind the scenes with a stadium tour*. A corporate day out with a Big Match Experience is the perfect way to entertain staff, customers or clients at the home of world-class hospitality. If you haven’t had the chance to experience a Welford Road matchday, you still have much to see. The scoring Game The Wedge distance drill
M
y last article focussed on a review of our individual golf games through the off-season. Using my own game as an example I identified that my end of season form was my most consistent and profitable. But why was my form earlier in the season so different? My review came to one simple conclusion I had

chipped and putted better. This area of the game is often known as the ‘short game’, but a better term for this is the ‘scoring game’.
How many times have you walked off the course feeling you have struck the ball well only to be disappointed that your scorecard does not reflect it? Adversely, sometimes you may have struck the ball poorly but somehow still managed to play to your handicap. Both scenarios are down to your scoring game. Proportionately too much practice time in golf is spent perfecting the full swing and therefore any scoring game practice is often overlooked. Shorter shots comprise of up to 50% of all shots in a round of golf and for some even more, so it is important to give this area due consideration.
wedge set
In this month’s article the focus is on ‘wedge play’. Firstly we need the tools to do the job.
Does your current wedge set comprise of a pitch, gap, sand and lob wedges at approximately 48, 52, 56 and 60 degree lofts? If not, then you may not have all of the tools for consistent wedge play. I also recommend that the gap, sand and lob wedges should all be the same make and model where possible, as again this adds to consistency.
Then take all of your wedges to the practice ground and find out how far a quarter swing (back and through) sends the ball with each wedge and duly note the distances. Then repeat the drill making half, three-quarters and full swings. After completing this exercise you should have sixteen different distances recorded.
These distances should encompass all yardages required for consistent wedge play. Then when on the course and faced with a shot of a certain distance your knowledge gained from practice should lead you to playing the correct club, with the correct length of swing.
This will ultimately lead to fewer putts and lower scores!

ith chillier winters and rising costs of living in Britain, the concept of “outsourcing your retirement” to warmer and cheaper shores doesn’t seem like such a ludicrous idea. This is exactly what a group of seven pensioners do in veteran Brit director, John Madden’s charming new film. Each are enamoured with the concept of spending their autumn years in an Indian Palace, a luxury development, “like the Costa Brava, with more elephants!” However, the real article doesn’t quite measure up to the brochure spiel. A reality of broken taps and rooms shared with pigeons awaits them in paradise, where they find themselves
in the bumbling hands of young entrepreneur Sonny (Slumdog Millionaire’s Dev Patel). The group decides to take the opportunity to rediscover themselves and behave like they’re on a geriatric gap year, with heart-warming and hilarious results. Starring a veritable wealth of British acting royalty including Judy Dench, Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton, Bill Nighy, and Tom Wilkinson to name a few. The only complaint is that there’s not enough screen time to go around such a delightful cast list! Phoenix Square Box Office: 0116 242 2800 www.phoenix.org.uk

book Reviews
The television, film and current affairs interests of a community have a huge impact on its book buying. In the last month, the books most requested and bought in The Bookshop in Kibworth have been: The Bradshaw’s Guide: clutched
daily by a pink shirt-clad Michael Portillo as he scooted around the country by train. There’s an 1863 version (Old House, £10.00) and a larger, more detailed reprint of the 1866 book (Middleton Press, £24.99). They’re exact reproductions of the original guides and despite the lack of pictures and illustrations, are unusually fascinating.
Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth (Orion, £7.99) and Birdsong by
Sebastian Faulks (Vintage, £7.99) have been re-popularised following recent Sunday evening television adaptations. The latter is simply outstanding and knocks its screen attempt into a cocked hat.
Warhorse by Michael Morpurgo (Egmont, £6.99) and its sequel Farm Boy (HarperCollins £5.99) continue to sell on the back of Steven Spielberg’s latest movie, whilst the rumbling of and fall-out from Salman Rushdie’s ‘assassination attempt’ has seen people intrigued once more by his once-banned Satanic Verses (Consortium, £8.99). Also, Radio 4 has, wonderfully, re-ignited an interest in Angela Carter following A Card from Angela based on Susannah Clapp’s eponymous new book (Bloomsbury, £10.00).

An added bonus is that all ticket holders can redeem the cost of their ticket off a purchase in the shop.
Tickets can be obtained from Once Upon A Time...In Kibworth, or call Kim on 0779 1808819. About the SEN - around 13% at Kibworth Primary School have identified special needs and the number is rising all the time. The school is working very hard to provide the very best support for each child’s individual needs and working closely with parents and other professional services to deliver this but resources are very limited. Once Upon A Time...In Kibworth is therefore really happy to help promote awareness of this shortfall of funding and to help raise money for this essential service. As a children’s boutique in a village location they are more than happy to sponsor and support local charitable causes that benefit children.

Pochin Celebrates with AGA Leicestershire and Rutland AGA owners – and those who would like to – celebrated the new AGA showroom at Pochin in William Street, Leicester and looked back on a 78-year relationship.
Easter Weekend Opening Whetstone Pastures Farm lies just off the busy A426 south of Blaby, but the moment you drive in, you discover a rural idyll! Sandra and Anthony Herbert took over running the fruit side of their 700 acre farm 6 years ago, and have transformed an old rustic courtyard and red brick building into a Strawberry Cottage Tea Room, an outdoor picnic area, a play barn for young families and a centre which hosts educational visits for all ages, birthday parties and special events like Open Farm Sunday and a ‘De-stress in the Countryside’ day. All this alongside their Pick your Own Fruit which opens in June. Sandra ran her own radio show at BBC Radio Leicester for 14 years and many customers remember her voice and her passion for local broadcasting. She also has a passion for food and is now able to indulge that in baking for the tea room and making lots of luscious jam to accompany the thousands of scones she makes. “We are fanatical about local good quality food and we have one of only 2 mobile Pizza ovens in the county, so offer pizza making too with Anthony being the chief stoker!” They are joining forces with Hancock Nurseries to offer a range of plants and will open earlier this year over the Easter weekend. They’ll be open Good Friday 10.00 - 16.30 and join them for Children’s crafts and an Easter Egg hunt on Sunday and Monday.
As well as enjoying food cooked on a traditional Four Oven AGA and the very latest AGA Total Control Cooker, guests could read original 1934 board meeting minutes marking the start of Pochin’s long association with AGA. David Pochin, current managing director of the 150-year-old family business, said, given the long and fruitful relationship Pochin and AGA have enjoyed, his great uncle George Pochin “did a good day’s work there”. AGA UK sales director Angela McPake said the new showroom “is a particularly welcome development in Leicestershire, which is traditionally a very strong AGA area”. AGA cookery demonstrator Penny Webb cooked a wide range of food on the AGAs at Pochin and said: “You can cook anything on an AGA that you can cook on a conventional oven. And you can dry your socks too.” Jenny and Robert Wright and their son Reims (8) were looking for a new AGA for their home at Twycross. Robert said: “When I was the same age as Reims is I came to Pochin with my parents when they were buying an AGA.”

Karren Brady, who’s now the current vicechairman of West Ham United, is probably best known for her role as assistant to Lord Sugar on The Apprentice.

MINDING HER OWN BUSINESS Interview by Stephen Milton
Best known for muscling her way into the one of the oldest boys clubs in the world, Karren Brady became an overnight sensation, when at the tender age of 23, she took over the reins of Birmingham Football Club - the first woman to ever commandeer a professional side.
T
oday, the mum of two is a corporate powerhouse, a self-made millionaire seated on the board of several of the UK’s biggest multinationals including Arcadia, Mothercare and Channel 4, spearheading initiatives and implementing campaigns that have resulted in seven and eight figure profit margins. Brady, who’s now the current vice-chairman of West Ham United, is probably best known for her role as assistant to Lord Sugar on The Apprentice. And while she’s reluctant to name her favourite winner over the years, it’s obviously clear she hold a soft spot for most recent champ Tom Pellereau.
“I really liked him because he seemed like such a genuine guy with no agenda, and you have to admire that in business. As far as I know, he’s doing well,
setting up his company, and he’s already delivering results. He’s always updating Alan on his progress.” It’s interesting to ask if Brady herself would ever have applied for the reality series as a starting entrepreneur. “Oh, 100 per cent, without a doubt, I would have relished the challenge,” she says. “And well, I did do Comic Relief does ‘The Apprentice’ and won by a pretty decent margin, so maybe I’d have had a chance too!” So what did she make of last year’s Young Apprentices?
“As always, they were a remarkable group of people who prove that youngsters in this country are a force to be reckoned with.
They get such a bad reputation so I think a show like this is important in displaying their talents in business, and really painting a picture as to what the next generation can achieve.” That said, would she
allow her children - Sophia, 15, and Paolo, 13 - to go on the series? “Yes, I think I would. It’d be great for them; give them an idea of how the real world works. I’d love them to go on, although probably it’s not going to happen with myself on the show!” Brady, 42, who’s recently been announced as the ambassador for the Almond Board of California, to encourage women to snack smartly, has always maintained a close bond with Sugar over the years. Considering his former position as chairman of Tottenham Hotspur and Karren’s allegiance to West Ham, surely a bone of contention has cropped up between the pair with the current legal battle raging between the two clubs for use of the Olympic Stadium? “The only time there’s a bone of contention with us is when we play each other,” she laughs. “We’ll always be ribbing each other whatever happens. I’ll get a text from
him match day, and he’ll always have some smart comment to make. It’s a shame then that West Ham has always come out on top against Tottenham over the last few years, but every man has his day! As for the other legal stuff, we just don’t debate that, ever.”
With all her business endeavours and commitments, can the mum-of-two ever see herself slowing down in the next few years?
“It’s doubtful! I love what I do and I want to build and expand down the line. The only thing I’m really looking to improve in 2012 is making more time for holidays with my husband [former Canadian footballer Paul Peschisolido]. As New Year’s resolutions go, that’s probably the best one I can think of!”
It’s interesting to ask if Brady herself would ever have applied for the reality series as a starting entrepreneur. 47

EMPLOYMENT LAW REFORMS
2012 will see a number of employment law reforms, including a significant change to the qualifying period for unfair dismissal.
T
he qualifying period for unfair dismissal will be increased from one to two years from April 2012. This will mean that an employee can only make a claim for unfair dismissal when they have been working for their employer for two years.
The exceptions to the unfair dismissal rule include cases involving discrimination, maternity, pregnancy and other ‘family friendly’ rights. It’s worth pointing out that despite the above changes the rules on discrimination have not been changed, and are not subject to

The Government says that the aim is to reduce the number of claims taken to tribunal which could speed up the process for genuine claims, as well as deterring people from making a claim unnecessarily. And finally, April will see unpaid parental leave increased to four months and a welcome increase in statutory maternity, paternity, adoption and sick pay.
