THE URSULINE SCHOOL THE URSULINE SCHOOL

Guided by our Catholic faith and the spirit of St. Angela Merici,

The Ursuline School educates, inspires and empowers young women to become wise, active, globally-minded leaders by cultivating lifelong learning, spiritual growth, integrity, respect for all and dedication to Serviam – “I will serve”

WELCOME!

I am thrilled to share with you some of the qualities that make The Ursuline School a remarkable place for young women to learn and grow. At Ursuline, we believe in empowering each student to chart her own unique path to academic excellence and success. We offer you diverse educational experiences that empower you to be a lifelong learner, a globally-minded leader, and an active contributor to the world.

A glimpse into our learning spaces reveals a dynamic environment where core curricula are enriched by unique, engaging experiences. Our curriculum for both middle and high school students is crafted to spark your curiosity and instill a love for learning. We offer you a solid foundation in core subjects, enriching courses in the arts and technology, and modern electives.

If you are a middle school student, you can dive into hands-on activities such as programming robots in our Innovation Hub, learn ballet at the barre, or discover the richness of Roman history and culture. In high school, you can develop a problem-solving mindset in our Design Thinking course, analyze financial markets and earn Bloomberg certification, or become a Global Scholar with distinction at graduation. In our Personal Development Program, you will build confidence and leadership skills, preparing you for success beyond Ursuline.

We will encourage you to discover your passions and pursue your interests inside and outside the classroom. Perhaps you will develop diplomacy skills in our Model United Nations club, or try your hand at choreography in the student-led cabaret? If you join a sports team, you'll find a supportive community ready to cheer you on. There is something for everyone at Ursuline!

You will also be empowered to make a difference through service and social justice projects, embracing our motto, Serviam, “I will serve.” And, grounded in our Catholic faith, we will help you promote compassion through daily prayer, liturgies, and grade-level retreats led by Peer Ministers.

At graduation, you will leave with more than just a diploma; our graduates earn significant college scholarships and gain acceptance into prestigious universities both in the U.S. and internationally. This success is a testament to our comprehensive academic programs and the dedication of our faculty.

Throughout your Ursuline years, you will benefit from the strong connections across our community—students, parents, alumnae, and Ursuline sister schools worldwide—through shared values and meaningful relationships.

I encourage you to explore the exciting possibilities at Ursuline and achieve your fullest potential. Together, we will support and celebrate your journey every step of the way.

Warm regards, Dr. Colleen Melnyk P’18

Ursuline students develop a global mindset, inspired to create positive change

Our Global Education program strengthens critical thinking skills and global competencies fostering empathy and enabling students to understand that the world’s issues are our shared issues. Each year, Ursuline explores a world issue of concern across disciplines through our signature Global Symposium. Prior school wide topics have included: food insecurity, ethical fashion, water scarcity, global displacement, and menstrual equity.

We offer students curriculum-based and cultural travel programs, as well as exchanges with our Ursuline “sister” schools around the world. Ursuline offers its independent study, Global Scholars Program, that requires a Global Concerns elective, four years of high school foreign language study and culminates with a scholarly Capstone Research project in senior year.

INNOVATION.

Our 13 acre campus in New Rochelle, NY boasts modern classrooms, state-of-the-art athletics facilities, professional centers for fine and performing arts, and more – the perfect place to learn, explore and cultivate friendships. When technology and hands-on learning combine, powerful things happen! To further our commitment to academic excellence, Ursuline recently unveiled two state-of-the-art student spaces.

The Innovation Hub is a 2,700 square foot makerspace for technology and design-based learning. Along with our STEAM educators, students explore courses in Engineering, Computer Science, and Intro to Design Thinking, a course designed to elicit experiential and authentic learning centered around creative thinking and problem solving. Foundations in Aerial Technology, a new course in 2024, prepares students for FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot testing and certification through the training and use of unmanned aircraft systems. Equipped with 3D printers, electronic cutters, a laser engraver, Micro:bits, Edison app-enabled robots, drones

and more emerging technologies, the Innovation Hub offers unparalleled learning experiences.

At Ursuline, we prioritize preparing young women for a seat at the table, whatever that goal might entail. Our High-Tech Media Conference Center is continuously evolving and currently comprises 780 square feet and features a 40-seat seminar-style classroom, meeting and presentation space. Equipped with leading edge technology and modern fixtures, the space is also home to the JoAnn Murphy Lab for Financial Markets & Literacy and Bloomberg terminals to prepare Ursuline students for college and the workplace.

SPIRITUALITY & SERVICE.

ROOTED IN THE CATHOLIC TRADITION

We are committed to living faith in our community. Campus Ministry activities allow students to enrich and engage in their spiritual life through daily prayer, school wide liturgies, retreats, and service projects.

Serviam in action

As pillars of our mission, service and leadership are woven into our curricular and co-curricular experience. Students have countless opportunities to problem-solve, help those in need, and collaborate with others in pursuit of a shared vision—as individuals or as members of a club or team. In recent years, our students have delivered meals, planted trees, cultivated a New York City community garden, raised funds for and increased awareness of needs within and beyond our local community.

STUDENT LIFE

Ursuline student life supports more than 60 clubs, activities, and out-of-the-classroom experiences. An integral part of the student experience, co-curriculars offer limitless opportunities to practice leadership, build confidence, and discover new talents.

There is no shortage of activities for students to participate in at The Ursuline School. With clubs ranging from art to politics, fitness to environmental awareness, and more, our offerings allow young women to explore new interests and step outside of their comfort zones.
