Announcements
“In Six Days: Why 50 Scientists Choose to Believe in Creation” will be featured at the next Authors Night at the Himmelreich Library at 18 Market Street in Lewisburg on Thursday, July 25 from 7 - 8:15 pm. One of the contributors to the book is Dr. Jeremy
Walter, a retired researcher at Penn State University who worked for decades in the Applied Research Laboratory and coordinated research teams including research for the Navy. Dr. Walter was also a featured contributor to the sequel, ‘On the Seventh Day: 40 Scientists and Academics Share Why They Believe in God’ and is active with the Central PA Creation Fellowship and speaks on subjects related to Creation versus Evolution. Most people are not aware of the highly credentialed scientists who doubt the theory of Evolution. A list of more than 1,000 PhD scientists titled ‘The Dissent from Darwinism List’ is more evidence that the issue is not settled. A dedicated Christian and Creationist, Dr. Walter has spoken to numerous groups and conferences on this topic. A question and answer session will follow the presentation and light refreshments will be offered. The meeting is free and open to the pulic. Everyone is welcome. For more information please call: 570-452-5000. 7/22

Testimonials: (Looking for some new comments of success)
Fall 1991 and January 1992
Testimonials: My cousin and his new wife (both in their early 40’s) were visiting my mom, my sister, and I. My sister asks, “So, how did you meet?” They kind of giggled and asked each other, “Should we tell them?” They said they met through the LBYL column. My sister and I decided we would try our fare at meeting “Mr. Right”. (BTW, my cousin and his wife are still married and hopelessly in love.) My sister didn’t have much luck, but in January 1992, I saw this ad that kept drawing my attention. As described, he really wasn’t what I was looking for, but... We met later that month for the first time; got engaged in 1993 and married in 1994. We will celebrate our 25th anniversary this October and we have a 23-year-old daughter who lives out of state. Thank you, LBYL! Mr. & Mrs. J.N.
4/4/17 Testimonial: I placed an ad 1/2/94 and met the love of my life. He has 3 boys and I have 3 girls. We were married 8/26/95 and now we’re the Brady Bunch. Thanks for helping us find each other. KP/DP
I will always be grateful to your paper Valley Trader.
My husband DH wrote to me and we have been happily married almost 12 wonderful years. We’ve been through many trials and joys and so glad we found each other. K.W/ K.H.
“Thanks Again Valley Trader, Friends! Years ago I put an ad in your paper and we were married almost 20 years & then our lord called him home.”
-HR
“My brother met his wife Bonnie through your column. They have a son named Jake! He’s our pride and joy!” –CW
L.B.Y.L. Readers: It would help a lot if you put your town location in your ad. Distance is important when replying to an ad. Thanks. –The Valley Trader

Top Reasons to Consider a Steel Roof for Your Home VALLEY HO E IMPROVEMENT VALLEY AUCTIONS
(StatePoint) Steel is increasingly becoming the go-to material used for residential roofing. According to industry experts, this is because steel offers both a range of design advantages, as well as features that align with sustainable living. Here are some of steel roofing’s biggest benefits and why you should consider it for your home:
VALLEY HEALTH
Durability: Steel roofing is highly durable and can last for 50 years or more with proper maintenance. This longevity means that fewer roofing materials end up in landfills over time compared to shorter-lived roofing materials like asphalt shingles, which typically need replacement every 2030 years.
Safety: Overall, steel roofing offers enhanced safety benefits due to its fire-resistance, wind-resistance, structural integrity, durability, resistance to pests and mold, and low-maintenance requirements.
Recyclability: Steel has been
recycled for over 100 years and is one of the most recyclable materials in the world. As a forerunner of the circular economy, it can be recycled infinitely into new steel products without losing its quality or durability. This reduces the amount of waste generated by roofing projects and conserves natural resources.
Energy Efficiency: Alongside such technological innovations as solar panels and energy-efficient HVAC systems, steel roofing is becoming integral to residential design, particularly for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint. This is because steel roofing reflects solar radiant heat, reducing cooling costs during hot weather. Many steel roofing products are also coated with reflective finishes that further enhance energy efficiency by reducing heat absorption.
Versatility: Steel roofing comes in a variety of styles, colors and profiles, allowing you to achieve the desired aesthetic for your home. Whether you prefer a traditional look or a modern design, steel roofing can accommodate a wide range of architectural preferences, enhancing the curb appeal and value of the property.
VALLEY DINING
Cost Savings:
Although the initial investment in steel roofing may be higher than some other roofing materials, its long lifespan and low maintenance requirements make it a costeffective choice in the long run.
Adaptive and Resilient
Design: Amidst the challenges posed by climate change and other environmental factors, responsible home design emphasizes resilience and adaptability. This entails using durable as steel, which can withstand extreme weather events. By embracing innovative approaches from the outset, your home can be fortified to withstand future uncertainties while helping ensure your safety and comfort.
into the design process can contribute to the well-being and prosperity of both individuals and communities, ensuring that the future of housing is socially inclusive and responsible.
Social Responsibility: As a durable and versatile material, steel plays a vital role in home construction that withstands the test of time while remaining affordable and accessible.

VALLEY HO E IMPROVEMENT
Almost Two-Thirds of Home Fires Are Due to Human Error. Here’s How to Prepare
(StatePoint) The threat of a home fire is greater than most people think. In fact, 40% of people believe they are more likely to win the lottery or get struck by lightning than experience a home fire, yet residential fires are the most common disaster people face in the United States, according to the American Red Cross. Here’s how to help prevent fires, and how to prepare for the worst:
Be Informed: The National Fire Protection Association reports that 60% of home fires are due to human error. It’s important to realize that humans are flawed. We forget things, we mess up, and we’re often distracted. Accepting the fact that a house fire is a real possibility is an important step in the right direction. There are simple actions you can take to help prevent accidents. For starters, cooking is the leading cause of house fires. Never leave cooking unattended. Keep the cooking area free of flammable items such as potholders, towels and packaging, and always maintain a 3-foot safety zone free of pets and kids.
Update Your Smoke Detection Devices: While taking safety precautions is critical, having the latest fire safety technology can provide an extra layer of detection. Pioneers in the home safety field are providing new solutions that
give homeowners more control over their safety, and like many technologies, today’s smoke and carbon monoxide detectors have come a long way. In fact, the new Kidde Detect devices provide over 25% faster smoke detection (29% faster average smoke detection based on internal testing of smoldering wood fires for Kidde 9th Edition vs. leading competitor 8th Edition products) that’s three times more precise (in terms of consistency and range of obscuration rate, based on internal testing for Kidde 9th Edition vs. leading competitor 8th Edition products). This is a critical improvement, as statistics show that people have less than 2 minutes to safely escape a house fire, so every second counts.
VALLEY AUCTIONS VALLEY HEALTH
Tech expert Marc Saltzman explains, “This technology is revolutionary because it features enhanced sensing technology to reduce nuisance alarms.”
“Nuisance alarms,” also known as false alarms, refer to when smoke alarms beep but there is no threat of fire. They are often caused by cooking activities and lead many consumers to disconnect their devices out of frustration. Upgrading your safety devices to Kidde Detect
Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors means your alarms are more likely to remain installed, so both you and your home can be as safe as possible. All Kidde Detect devices include a selftesting feature that when combined with routine manual testing and maintenance, ensures the alarm is always operating as expected (selftesting is not a substitute for a manual push test of the alarm), and the devices go above and beyond the latest UL 8th edition standards to meet 9th edition. Once you have your new detectors, be sure to install them on every level of your home, in hallways, and both inside and outside every sleeping area.
Be Prepared: A working smoke alarm can double the chance of escaping from a home fire safely, but that’s just the first line of defense. It’s also important to create a home fire escape plan. Kidde’s fire safety toolkit is a great resource to help families prepare for a fire emergency.
For more fire safety tips and information on how to upgrade your devices, visit Kidde. com.
While many people assume that a fire can’t happen to them, the truth is that everyone makes mistakes. Having the right lifesaving tools can help protect you and your family.
Give Your Grilling Game a Flavor Boost 3 tips to make summer meals deliciously memorable
VALLEY AUCTIONS VALLEY HEALTH
(Family Features) Make sure your grill game is on fire this summer. The right prepping, seasoning and grilling techniques can help you serve your favorite foods in the tastiest ways all summer.
Consider these helpful tips from the flavor experts at Watkins.
Seasoning with Staying Power
The first step for impressive flavor is proper preparation. For dry seasoning, blot meat or sliced vegetables (such as zucchini) with paper towels to dry. Then rub 1-2 teaspoons of vegetable oil over each piece to help your seasoning or dry rub stick.
For marinades, after mixing - but before adding the meat - reserve 2 tablespoons of marinade liquid to baste meat while on the grill. If you’re dicing meat (except for shrimp), do so before adding it to the marinade so each piece can soak in as much flavor as possible.

Finally, no grilling menu would be complete without
burgers. Adding a seasoning tailor-made for this all-American classic, like Watkins Organic Hamburger Seasoning, brings an unforgettable boost of flavor. You’ll want about 1 tablespoon of seasoning for each pound of ground meat - just be sure to mix in thoroughly before you make your patties to distribute the flavor evenly.
Flavor for All Your Favorites
While most people think of meats for grilling season, there are so many ways to spice up all your favorite foods and beverages. For fajitas, you can use chili lime seasoning for the meat and put it on the rim of your lemonade or margaritas, too.
You can also switch it up and roast potatoes instead of fries to go with a well-seasoned burger. Try peppercorn Parmesan seasoning for a complementary flavor. If you’re looking for a finishing touch for steak, mushrooms

make a perfect enhancement and you can use the same steak seasoning to prepare them.
A Showstopping Side
Grilled corn makes a fresh, juicy side for summer meals. For tender kernels and a milder char flavor, leave the husks on, soak the corn in
water for 20-30 minutes and grill over mediumhigh heat for 15-20 minutes. For more char and caramelized flavor, remove the husks and grill over medium-high heat for 8-10 minutes, turning frequently.
After grilling, remove the husks (if needed) and lightly coat the corn in butter before seasoning. Corn can work with a range of flavor profiles - get creative with Watkins Organic Mesquite, Chili Lime or Peppercorn Parmesan seasoning blends to make your most memorable corn yet.
