ers’ Association to support training in electrical safety in central and southcentral Pennsylvania through December 2024. The Association was awarded a $157,833 training grant by the Federal Susan Harwood Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which will focus on manufacturing but also other industrial sectors. This electrical safety training will help workers and employers recognize serious workplace hazards, including implementing injury prevention measures and understanding rights and responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The grant audience also focuses on small businesses as well as temporarily unemployed workers and recent graduates seeking to enter manufacturing or industrial sectors. The initiative will include training such as electrical safety, lockout tagout, arc flash and NFPA 70e and will be offered in English and Spanish.
IMC has scheduled open enrollment no-cost electrical safety training courses with dates and locations throughout its 12-county region. These dates and locations can be found under Events & Training on IMC’s website at https:// imcpa.com/. Employers are also able to host training sessions at their own locations, in conjunction with the IMC. This is the fourth grant received in Central PA from the Susan Harwood Program, the third for electrical safety, which has been received two years in a row and is projected to train another five hundred employees and individuals. This federal program honors the late Susan Harwood, former director of OSHA’s Office of Risk Assessment, who died in 1996. During her 17-year OSHA career, she helped develop federal standards to protect workers exposed to bloodborne pathogens, cotton dust, benzene, formaldehyde, asbestos, and lead in construction. The training material was produced under grant funding from
the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Department of Labor. It does not necessarily reflect the views or policies of the U.S. Department of Labor, nor does mention of trade names, commercial products, or organizations imply endorsement by the U.S. Government. For questions about no-cost training in electrical safety and to schedule your onsite training, please contact Lauri Moon, Manager of Training & Outreach at (800) 326-9467, or by email at laurim@imcpa.com.

Fall 1991 and January 1992 Testimonials: My cousin and his new wife (both in their early 40’s) were visiting my mom, my sister, and I. My sister asks, “So, how did you meet?” They kind of giggled and asked each other, “Should we tell them?” They said they met through the LBYL column. My sister and I decided we would try our fare at meeting “Mr. Right”. (BTW, my cousin and his wife are still married and hopelessly in love.) My sister didn’t have much luck, but in January 1992, I saw this ad that kept drawing my attention. As described, he really wasn’t what I was looking for, but... We met later that month for the first time; got engaged in 1993 and married in 1994. We will celebrate our 25th anniversary this October and we have a 23-year-old daughter who lives out of state. Thank you, LBYL! Mr. & Mrs. J.N.
4/4/17 Testimonial: I placed an ad 1/2/94 and met the love of my life. He has 3 boys and I have 3 girls. We were married 8/26/95 and now we’re the Brady Bunch. Thanks for helping us find each other. KP/DP

Your Guide to Replacing Home Siding VALLEY HO E IMPROVEMENT
(StatePoint) Your siding gives your home character and curb appeal while protecting it from the elements. To help you make sensible, stylish decisions, here are some fast facts about three popular varieties of siding.
VALLEY AUCTIONS VALLEY HEALTH
1. Board and batten. The use of board and batten vertical siding originated hundreds of years ago as a practical solution for covering the spaces between the boards on the exterior of a home or barn. Today, it portrays a rustic farmhouse style and handmade quality, but its strong vertical lines have modern appeal that can enhance many architectural styles, from popular Craftsman
to timeless Victorian. The good news? New materials are blending this classic look with the modern engineering of high-performance super polymer vinyl siding to offer the best of both worlds. ProVia’s board and batten siding, for example, is low maintenance with a built-in weather barrier so you never have to paint, stain or caulk your home’s
exterior. It’s also available in a range of colors, helping you achieve a oneof-a-kind look for your home.
2. Shake and staggered shingle. Featured in American homebuilding since the 1600s, there are few other cladding options as distinctive and traditional as cedar shake and staggered shingle siding. If you love this look but are concerned about maintaining this kind of siding, you’re in luck. These days, certain manufacturers are preserving the authenticity of this look using engineered vinyl materials. The result? Greater durability and far superior moisture resistance.
3. Insulated siding. If you’d like additional protection from extreme temperatures, impacts and even noises for greater peace of mind and comfort, insulated siding may be the right choice for you. Showcasing an authentic cedar woodgrain texture,

CedarMAX insulated vinyl siding from ProVia is an example of siding providing a combination of beauty, durability and energy efficiency. It combines rigid foam EPS insulation with the manufacturer’s Super Polymer vinyl siding. Not only does the added foam insulation make this one of the most energyefficient exterior claddings on the market, it may help reduce outside noise transmission by as much as 39%, according to a study conducted by a third-party test laboratory.
When you begin the process of shopping for house siding, it can feel overwhelming to identify which styles or colors you might want for your home. Get inspired by how other homeowners have styled their siding by visiting provia.com/ siding/gallery.

and color you want using materials that keep your home, and your household, safe and comfortable.

Porch and Patio Pick-Me-Up Ideas
(StatePoint) If your concrete porch and patio surfaces are plain, ugly or in disrepair, you may assume the only solution is to hire a contractor for a complete overhaul. The truth is that you can resurface these spaces with minimal DIY experience in just a few days. Here’s how:
VALLEY AUCTIONS VALLEY HEALTH
Make Repairs First
As with any project, the key to success is preparation. First, pressure wash your surface, allowing it to thoroughly dry. Then use a durable repair product, such as Rock Patch, to fill in cracks, pits and holes. Impact-, moisture-, salt- and mold-resistant, this odorless, hard stone compound can patch flaws or function as a smooth new base. Because it doesn’t dry quickly like concrete, you can take your time and apply the product slowly. While the normal cure time is 24 hours, you’ll want to increase your dry time when applying the product in damp, cool conditions, or if applying a very thick coat.
Choose a New Surface
Give your space a huge upgrade by applying a new surface with a DIY product. The real stone surfaces available from Daich Coatings, for example, will improve the look of your porch or patio while enhancing the functionality of the space, and there are many options to choose
from, depending on the amount of skill you have and the time you want to invest. The brand’s Terrazzo Decorative Granite Resurfacer has a unique formula offering a seamless overlay that is both attractive and functional, whereas its RollerRock’s self-priming formula means one less step, for instant color and beauty and an attractive textured finish.
Want to get creative? Consider the all-in-one SpreadStone kit, which includes a pre-mixed primer, base coat, accent coat, clear sealer, stone texture roller and grout line stencil tape. While this process takes a little time, it’s easy to do and will allow you to design a stunning decorative stone surface that will stand up to extreme weather. Finally, the SpreadRock Granite Stone Coating is easily applied in a thin uniform layer using a scraper, trowel or flooring squeegee for dependable durability and a visual effect that is timeless and stunning.
Complete Your Project
Finalize your porch or patio pick-meup in one step by applying a sealer with anti-slip benefits. TracSafe AntiSlip Sealer from Daich Coatings is not only a high performance clear coat that will strengthen and protect your new surface, it will help keep family members and visitors safe from falls and mishaps. In fact, its commercialgrade anti-slip ratings are up to twice the OSHA standard and its highperformance, odorless water-based technology bonds firmly to all types of flooring materials.
