GIVEN THE CHALLENGES ASSOCIATEDat source, including the prices quoted, retail price for sugar here could well see an authorized, appreciable increase. This is the warning that Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonslaves gave during his now weekly Wednesday morning interactive programme on NBC Radio.Gonsalves, after he had given a detail account of what is on offer with respect to this county’s options as far as sources of sugar are concerned, went as far as to say that given what is on offer, “… white sugar would be about $2.40 per pound and the brown sugar about $2.05… .” This compares with a current $1.90 per pound for white sugar and $1.75 for brown sugar when available.Indetailing the challenges that this country faces with respect to the import of sugar, Gonsalves referenced what is on offer from this country’s traditional suppliers - the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo).GuySuCo, he said, supplied SVG with brown sugar at a price of US$560 per metric tonne FOB (free on board), with the additional fright cost of US$64 per metric tonne.Already, Gonslaves disclosed, GuySuCo has indicated that it cannot supply brown sugar to SVG until November.
The Cabinet-approved document further states that, “unvaccinated travelers to St. Vincent and the Grenadines WILL NOT be required to quarantine in a Tourism Authority/MOHWE approved facility once the arrival COVID-19 test is negative.”
Unvaccinated travelers are also not required to fill out the pre-arrival health form. The changed entry protocols are set to take effect on August 30, 2022.
The protocol may be revised at any time at the discretion of the Health Services Subcommittee, the document stated.

THIS COUNTRY’S PREMIER sporting facility, the Arnos Vale Playing Field, sometimes referred to as Arnos Vale One, is heading for another upgrade. Some EC$2.3 million have been allocated to facilitate the upgrade. News of this came at a signing ceremony held on Tuesday, August 23rd at the National Sports Council, involving K-Electric Company Ltd and Browne’s Design and Construction Services Ltd on one hand, and the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines on the other. According to what was gathered at the signing ceremony, the upgrade will include work on the Double Decker and Frank Thomas Stands, the Michael Findlay Pavilion, the Bleachers, the Administrative Building and the Media Centre. This upgrade, according to Raymond Ryan, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport, will set the playing field in a state of readiness to host local, regional and international games. The upgrade is expected to begin in September of this year. Arnos Vale Playing Field last hosted a Test match in 2014, i.e. West Indies versus Bangladesh, while the last occasion for a One-Day International was back in 2012 — West indies versus Australia. The Field host it first T20 match in 2013, featuring the West Indies against Pakistan. Earlier Upgrade Since its commissioning in 1973, the Arnos vale Playing Field has had one major upgrade. A US$23 million renovation began in 2005 to facilitate warm-up matches in the 2007 Cricket World Cup. That extensive upgrade saw the construction of a double-decker stand at the south-eastern end and a new players’ pavilion located at the north eastern end. The players’ pavilion was expected to be redesigned to include VIP boxes. The southern press box was upgraded to a full media centre and the concrete bleachers on the south replaced the temporary ones at the south-western section of the ground. There was also major re-grading and re-grassing of the playing area, re-routing of the adjacent Great Head River and some re-modeling of the Wilfred Slack Nets. Lighting In 2017, the then Minster of Sport, Cecil Mc Kie, told a press conference possiblehelddiscussionsthatwerewithasupplier of lights, and the government “had got a fair idea of what would be required to light Arnos Vale One. He reiterated that “the lighting of Arnos Vale One has become priority to the government”. Mc Kie explained then, that this specific upgrade was aimed at positioning St Vincent and the Grenadines to be able to host regional and international sporting fixtures, not unlike what is now being purported.“Moreand more we see those games being hosted in the night… So if we are going to put up our hands and put ourselves on offer to host regional and international fixtures, I think we have to be competitive, and the only way to be competitive is to have that facility lit,” Mc Kie posited. The Arnos vale Playing Field is yet to be lit.
Arnos Vale Playing Field to get upgrade, again he Arnos vale Playing Field, not for the first time, will have an upgrade.

POLICE HERE HAVE CONFIRMED that the body of an unidentified female (i.e. up to press time Thursday) was discovered on the northern half of the runway of the old E.T Joshua airport, on Thursday morning. Though still unconfirmed, the woman, according to persons who claim to know her, was a resident of Pole Yard a community that runs parallel to the northern half of the runaway, on its eastern side.
The Lowmans Hill resident is said to have received a single gunshot to the upper right area of his back. A video circulated on Facebook showed him stumbling after receiving the shot. A number of bystanders attested to have heard the discharge gunshots but none came forward to say that they saw and could identify the assailant. Belize, Gonsalves reported, offered a price of US$832 a metric tonne CIF, for brown sugar, compared to the US$624 (Us$560 plus US$64.00) which was available from GuySuCo previously. According to Gonsalves, the sugar issue would be considered by the Cabinet during its weekly meeting on Wednesday.“Wehave to consider how we can lessen the pain for consumers,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the priority concern would be how to respond to filling the need for brown sugar which is what the majority of people use. While the matter of an ongoing supply of sugar has to be addressed by the administration given that it has direct control over its import, there are reports of brown sugar being available on the local market at prices ranging from EC$3.00 to $5.00 per pound.

ANTHONIO MASON told the Serious Offences Court on Monday that he damaged a cellular phone because the owner of the phone owed him forThedrugs.Barrouallie man was charged with damaging a black Iswag cellular phone valued EC$400, without lawful excuse.TheCourt heard that Mason knew the complainant very well, and around 3:40 p.m. on March 4, he met the complainant in Kingstown, took away his phone, and damaged it. He handed back the phone to the complainant when he was approached by the police, then fled. He was subsequently arrested and charged with damage to property. When asked by Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne why he damaged the complainant’s phone, Mason said, “He owe me two gran ($2,000) since 2020, and pushing me around until now”. When the Magistrate asked him what the complainant owed him for, Mason replied, “He owe me two gran for drugs. Me and he been wrestling, and I told him gey me something and I will give him phone”. The Magistrate said Mason was making an allegation about a transaction in relation to something which is illegal, and he does not have the jurisdiction to deal with that. “The phone is damaged. You said guilty. I just hope it does not go any further,” Browne told Mason before ordering him to pay compensation in the sum of $400 by October 7 or one month in prison, for damaging the phone.
A 60-year-old Richland Park man was granted $6,000 bail on Tuesday when he appeared in Court, charged in connection with a chopping incident in that community, July 28. Austin Jack is charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Augustine Dick, of Richland Park, with intent. Dick is said to have sustained chop wounds to the neck, left hand and left leg.Jack was not required to plea when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne at the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday.

John said he currently sells things at the side of the road, in addition to him being a soca artiste.
The warning came from Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne on Monday after 23-year-old Akym John of Largo Height pleaded guilty to assaulting Abbud Woodley of the same community, with intent to commit an offence, to wit, bodily harm, in Kingstown, June 24, 2022.

Prosecutor Renrick Cato did not object to bail, but requested suitable surety andTheconditions.Prosecutor told the Court that the complainant had been ‘warded’ at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, but was subsequently discharged and is home recuperating. Jack was granted bail on condition that he does not contact the complainant, and that he reports to the Mesopotamia Police Station every Friday. The matter has been adjourned to November 1.
In response to other questions asked earlier by the Magistrate, John said he attended secondary school and obtained five CSEC passes. According to him, he was employed at the Public Health Department, but was no longer there, because, “Me ain’t been tek de vaccine.”
Stories by HAYDN HUGGINS BAHARRI DOPWELL, a 20-year-old Paul’s Avenue resident who was remanded on multiple charges of robbery, was cleared of three of those charges on Monday. On Dopwell’s return to the Serious Offences Court on Monday, Prosecutor Renrick Cato told the Court that he had received instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to withdraw those charges, in accordance with Section 68 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The Prosecution does not have to give reasons for withdrawing any charge. One of the charges which was withdrawn, stemmed from the March 26, 2022 armed robbery, reportedly committed against Vincentian born Methodist Minister, Rev. Adolf Davis of Richland Park. Davis was reportedly robbed, at gunpoint, of a cellular phone valued EC$800, containing a FLOW sim card valued EC$35, a Digicel sim card valued EC#%, a leather wallet valued EC$80, containing a driver’s license valued EC$450, amounting to a total of EC$1,400, along with EC$200 in cash. The other charges which were withdrawn involved the March 26, 2022 armed robberies reportedly committed against female volleyball player Saquana Duncan of Fountain, and teacher Daryl Franklyn of Belair. Duncan was reportedly forcibly relieved of her cellular phone and sim card, which together valued EC535, while Franklyn was reportedly robbed of items valued at EC$470, along with US$60 and EC$10 in cash. It was alleged that the same gun was used to carry out the robberies on Davis, Franklyn and Davis. The three charges were said to have stemmed from an incident at Richmond Hill, Kingstown, when the three victims made were making their way to a vehicle, after returning from a volleyball game at a nearby hardcourt.Thecharges were laid indictably, and therefore, Dopwell was not required to plea on his initial appearance before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne at the Serious Offences Court, on April 25. While the charges were withdrawn they were not dismissed, and therefore, could be brought back. Dopwell has other matters a similar nature pending, two of which he was denied Magisterial and High Court bail.Dopwell is also facing a charge of breaching a High Court order in relation to one of his bail Dopwell.representingConnellAttorneyconditions.Grantis

Horatio St. Vincent and the more alike than we know.
Leaders who accept that to be respected and not to be simply liked will say no when they need to; be open-minded and transparent; hold themselves and others around him accountable; be consistent and fair in setting rules and expectations (devising laws); ask for feedback regularly and then act on it; apologize when they make mistakes and then move on; mirror the behaviour of those they want to like and respect them, not model behaviour they would want them to cultivate.Forleaders, professionals for that matter, who want to be liked, that is good but being respected is a requirement.MargaretThatcher, former Prime Minister of England once remarked, “If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing.” Nuff said.
THERE IS A SCHOOL Of thought that being liked is fleeting. That is to say that it doesn’t matter if you are liked or disliked, the sentiment lasts for a (very) short time. This, however, does not defeat the view that there is nothing wrong with wanting to be liked. Don’t our national leaders want to be liked? Don’t our bosses want to be liked? For that matter, don’t you, the average reader, the employee in some government department, in some business place, some office somewhere, want to be liked? Is it not accepted that if the ‘boss’ likes you that you have a better chance of getting promoted, being assigned special projects that interest you, having people go above and beyond for you, getting timely responses and feedback, and having the kind of social capital that you draw on to get what you want and need from Reciprocally, others?if it works out as stated, you will like your boss… move mountains to please him and ensure he remains your boss for as long as possible. In fact, that boss will now become the boss among all bosses… the big and best boss in the world. Or as one ‘kid’ on Steve Harvey’s Little Big Shots TV Show declared, the ‘bestest’ boss. Did we say World Boss?

For those interested, the streets are in as poor a condition as ours, and the drainage system is terrible. Lesson learned: after rain don’t drive with your car window rolledThesedown.are just a few observations from a sister Caribbean island. The struggle is real everywhere, but we must continue to learn from each other.

Another thing I think we could learn from them is how they developed and implemented a National Insurance System. I do not know how the whole thing works, but from my limited experience, it seems like the government provides a primary health care package for all citizens, much like we do. Get sick and you cannot afford a private doctor or hospital; go to one of the government clinics and wait long enough, someone will see you. Attitudes at the public clinics are exactly the same in the Bahamas as in SVG. Now, this is where things are different for senior citizens; if the government pharmacy does not have the prescribed medication, you are allowed to take it to any pharmacy and they will fill it at no cost or at the same reduced price you would have paid through the government. How great is that?Another thing they do that could go a long way in keeping our streets clean is pick up household garbage twice a week, including Saturdays and Sundays.
JUST WHEN I THINK, “only in SVG!”, I am forced to acknowledge that we are more alike than we know or are willing to admit. As I sat down and reflected on the process of renewing my expired passport in SVG, I was reminded by my wife of her experience trying to renew her Bahamian passport. Over the last year, I have expressed my disappointment with some of the things we ask our people to go through in some government offices in SVG. Then I listened to my wife’s experience in the Bahamas passport office, and as bad as I thought our process was, I discovered that the process in the Bahamas is worst. Her procedure took twice as long and only happened because we had special assistance from some close friends. You see, unlike me, my wife has no problem calling on the people she knows in “High Places” for assistance or tipping government employees for doing theirThisjob.experience causes me to reflect on how much we are alike. I do not consider myself a visitor or a tourist. We are living in and among the people. I take early morning walks through the neighborhood and visit with the ordinary working-class people and, of course, the farmers; after all, no matter where I go, the farming community holds a special place in my heart. Many single-family housing neighborhoods have been converted to duplexes and triplexes. Everyone has a room for rent; this causes overcrowding and living conditions that are much less acceptable. It has also caused a below-market growth in generational wealth transfer for the working-class folks. The number of broken-down cars parked in the side yards (where possible) and on the street is unbelievable, unacceptable, and contributes to the devaluation of properties.Somehomes do not have potable water, as evidenced by the number of public standpipes in some neighborhoods. This reality quickly reminded me that we are people with a shared history and similar struggles. I did not come here today to highlight other people’s misery so we can feel better about ourselves. I want to talk about things they do well that we could emulate. After all, we must learn from each other. They have many hotels along the island’s beaches, and all beaches are open to the public. Some hotels are required/allowed to rehabilitate the beaches for the betterment of everyone. No gray water is allowed to run off the property into the sea. And the young entrepreneurs are allowed to sell local food and juices in designated areas on the beaches, catering to the locals and the tourists alike. They are all licensed and trained by the tourism department to provide high-quality customer services. The local jet ski operators, and fun ride operators are encouraged, thus allowing the tourists to interact with the local businesses free from the tailormade experience offered by the hotel. All of this happens in an orderly fashion with no apparent enforcement authority demanding cooperation or compliance. Law enforcement is always close by, yet not visible to inattentive persons.
Leaders and being liked
It is no different when a leader of a political party presents himself to the electorate. Simply put, he wants the electorate to like him, which would translate into voting forThehim.question that begs some looking in on here is: When does wanting to be liked become a problem?Itbecomes a problem when liking someone comes at the expense of being respected; when we fall prey to innuendo and sarcasm and unconsciously or otherwise declare that we like so and so not realising that we have forfeited our respect in doing Overallso.happiness in life is related to how much you are respected by those around you. Nevertheless, when we sacrifice or simply ignore what it takes to be respected for the quicker, and often easier, win of feeling liked and being able to manipulate those who shower you with likeness, we lose out on the benefits that genuine respect yields. Like what? Like greater enjoyment and satisfaction with you job; increased sense of meaning and significance; better health and wellbeing, and more feelings of trust and safety, and increased engagement.Thosewho are already in leadership positions and even those aspiring to leadership, especially at a national level, in their desire to be liked often go out of the way to attract attention. They often engage in gossip, rash references and name calling rather than giving direct feedback. Yes, leaders who want to be liked will try or profess to please everyone, make promises they can’t keep; express strong opinions about people those who they want to like them might despise; overkill people with credit, compliments and praise; use information as leverage withholding or giving it away. Leaders who recognize the importance of being respected –with or without being liked – are more inclined to tell the truth even if it is unpopular to his cause but beneficial to the greater good. Those who don’t recognize the importance of being respected are likely to say no when they need to admit to mistakes, no to when they should be entertaining feedback, and no to moving forward with a new plan of action.

Faith without work is dead!
Following on the above, I ask, especially of those who expect God to work miracles: What are you going to do when your backs are against the walls? What would you do when the pressure is overbearing? Are you going to complain and die or raise your voices in solidarity, demanding what is rightfully yours? Some time ago, there was a call on social media by the St. Vincent and the TeachersGrenadinesUnion, for a day of prayer, i.e., `16 hours of prayers and supplications for the dismissed teachers who refused to take the vaccine. The narrator said, “If we pray, God will do the impossible.” I tell you this, “Faith without work is dead,’ and by extension, “God helps those who help themselves.”TheCreator has given us a voice and once that voice becomes a collective, the authorities will hear collectiveThroughyou.yourenergy, you can work wonders like the children of Israel, who raised their voices loudly and smashed the walls of Jericho. It is not the will of the Almighty for anyone to live in bondage, hardship, and poverty; that’s the idea of wicked leaders. Yes, there’s power in prayer, and there is power in unity, protest, and civil disobedience. If it wasn’t for protesting and civil disobedience, black people in America, Zimbabwe, and South Africa couldn’t access the same privileges as their white counterparts. And, resistance and rebellion freed our ancestors from the colonial masters’ whips and chains. No one should want to drink honey and not be prepared to risk getting stung by Everyone, bees.it seems, wants to go to heaven, but don’t want to feel the pain and anguish of dying to find the peace of heaven here on earth. Sadly, the black masses of this country don’t understand the concepts of solidarity and brotherhood. Rather, we know individualismabout and selfishness. We come together to ‘jig’ behind Skinny Fabulous and Fireman Hooper, but we don’t realize that the strength of that unity and solidarity can be put to more far-reaching effect.Intimes like these when we, the masses, are feeling the squeeze, are we going to murmur and whisper behind closeddoors about how politicians are wicked? Or are we going to raise our voices for justice, fairness, and equity?
IT’S MONDAY22nd August, 2022 as I write this, and our dearly beloved St. Vincent and the Grenadines has recorded, as of that date, 27 homicides. Many of these (I am not sure whether it is the majority) have been committed by the use of firearms, and many of the victims (again, I am not sure whether it is the majority) have been relatively young people, mainly males. And it is noticeable that when any of the perpetrators apprehended, arethey are themselves young people. Rights and obligations of members of the ULP Article 5 of the Constitution of the ULP establishes the rights and obligations of individual members of the Party as follows: “Rights Every individual member of the Party shall have the rights: (a) To demand that the Party’s Constitution, programme, and decisions and resolutions be observed. (b) To participate in the meetings of the Party which he or she is entitled to attend; to discuss all matters fully and to vote on them.(c)To be eligible for election to offices in the Party and as a delegation to the National Council and National Convention. Fresh hope for St. Vincent and the Grenadines under the ULP
Aims and objectives of the ULP Article 2 of the ULP’s Constitution states ten “Aims and Objectives” of the Party as “(i)Thefollows:defence of the national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.(ii)The preservation of the unity of the State of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. (iii)The building of a society in accordance with the principles of participatory democracy, basic human rights as enshrined in the Constitution of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, free institutions, social justice, equality before the law, and human dignity. (iv)The fostering of the pursuit of just economic rewards for labour. (v)The development of people’s talents and skills to the fullest extent possible through training and education. (vi)The especial protection of those sections of the society who are disadvantaged, weak and defenseless. (vii)The sustained improvement of the material, social and cultural level of living of the people as a whole. (viii)The promotion of our Caribbean civilisation and the deepening of the process of regional integration and any viable thrust towards Caribbean nationhood.(ix)The active pursuit, in conjunction with the international community, of a just international order and lasting peace internationally.(x)Thepractical affirmation, in every sphere of human activity, of the view that the Nation is founded upon the belief in the supremacy of God and the freedom and dignity of man and woman.”
The foundation document of the ULP, the Constitution and By-Laws of the Unity Labour Party, adopted at the Party’s founding on October 16, 1994, provides the rock upon which our party and our nation’s success has been substantially built over the past 21 years in government. It is the foundation document, too, for fresh hope. I shall, in these respects, highlight two aspects of this foundation document, namely: (i) Aims and Objectives of the ULP; and (ii) the Rights and Obligations of Individual Members.
* Increase support for lower income families by expanding existing support programs and ensure that the support is distributed based on need and not by political favour;
The issue IT IS absolutely remarkable that after more than 21 years in government (March 2001 to August 2022, and continuing), the Unity Labour Party (ULP) continues to deliver fresh ideas, fresh initiatives, innovative policies and programmes within the context of a compelling developmental narrative for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Other vital provisions
All this has been evident from its praxis – its theory and practice – of excellent good governance which derives centrally from the following: its people-centred vision; its philosophy of advanced social democracy as applied to the circumstances of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Caribbean; its socio-cultural matrices focused on the further ennoblement of our Caribbean civilisation; its quest to build a modern, competitive, many-sided postcolonial economy which is at once local, national, regional and global; the pursuance of its commitment to an alive constitutionalism and popularly-based democracy; its mature regionalism in our Caribbean and our America, and its conjoined internationalist solidarity grounded in the foundational precepts of the Charter of the United Nations and the national interests of St. Vincent and the Grenadines; and the delivery of desirable outcomes in every sphere of public policy and collective human endeavours in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. These seven core features of the ULP’s praxis constitute the basis and the exciting platform from which flows the fresh hope for St. Vincent and the Grenadines consequent upon the convulsions, dislocations, and extreme challenges arising from the COVID pandemic, the volcanic eruptions, Hurricane Elsa of July 2021, drought, and grave turmoil in the global political economy. All this is in the context, or against the backdrop, of the historical legacies of underdevelopment, (colonialism, slavery, native genocide, etc.) and the extant challenges or limitations, and possibilities, in the structural condition of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, inclusive of those connected to its small size in material particulars, its islandness, and its location in the vortex of monopoly capitalism, globally.
* Reduce VAT from 16% to 13% and ensure that the savings are passed on to ordinary consumers. This will help everyone across the board;*Increase the number of zerorated VAT items. This will reduce grocery bills for everyone
* End the unlimited increase in the VINLEC bill by putting a cap on the fuel surcharge and improve efficiency.Thesemeasures are practical and realistic and can deliver benefit to everyone immediately. Remember, government’s revenue from VAT is boosted by the higher prices for goods and services. As prices go up, so does government’s revenue from VAT. We must put people first, not government revenues first. I said it early in the COVID crisis that we must put the money where the pain is. That is, in helping families who are being squeezed by the increase in We,prices.Vincentians, have always known, that we are stronger when we stand together. We value community and look after one another. Everyone has a role to play in seeing us through this crisis.
* Immediately repeal the Customs Service Charge increase to reduce import costs;
Working together, we will improve the political and economic conditions
(Excerpts of the National Address by the Hon. Dr. Godwin Friday, President of the New Democrat Party and Leader of the Opposition Pt.2) Cost of living
Public documentation There is an abundance of documentation published by or through the ULP and its government, or by way of independent or other official sources on all of this, and more. Currently, a book authored by me on this very subject is at the publishers; it should be published soon; it is entitled aptly: A Time of Respair: Beyond COVID, Volcanic Eruptions, Hurricane Elsa, and Global Turmoil – Fresh Hope for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Final comment
The Unity Labour Party, from its very foundation, represents the best hope for St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It has chalked up an impressive record of achievement. And it offers fresh hope, now! Indeed, no other political entity in St. Vincent and the Grenadines offers such hope, good works, and love for the people!
Every individual member shall be charged with the following obligations: (a) To be disciplined and to be committed to the Party’s work, principles, and(b)decisions.Tostrengthen and extend the relations between the Party and the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. (c) To practice the virtues of humility, honesty, integrity and fraternal love for one’s fellow man and to struggle against selfishness, arrogance, and conceit. (d) To be critical and self-critical within the Party so as to eliminate mistakes which can be harmful to the Party. (e) To refrain from making public statements contrary to the declared principles and policies of the Party and from doing anything which is inconsistent with the interests and policies of the Party. (f) To be bound by the decisions and policies of the Party. (g) To pay dues promptly and regularly as laid down by the Party.”
The foundation of the ULP: Success and fresh hope
There are other vital provisions of the ULP’s Constitution and By-Laws, including those pertaining to the “Qualifications of Candidates for Parliamentary Elections”. The fifteen listed qualifications are quite instructive in pursuance of fresh hope.
The ULP’s self-absorption and failure of governance have real consequences for our people. The government has failed to address the most urgent and pressing issue facing the country now, today: the cost-ofliving crisis. As cost-of-living increases, our standard of living falls. Life has become more difficult for families, many of whom are now forgoing essentials and cutting back in every way they can. It is a sad reality that those who have the least are hardest hit. Spending on necessities takes up a larger portion of their Increaseincome.incost of living is not just a challenge for today, but for the future as well. Rising prices, with stagnant wages, undermine our standard of living. They force persons to dip into limited savings, to postpone retirement (if possible) or to put off making big life decisions like getting married, building a home, or mortgaging a family home to pay for a child’s education. Many are forced to lose their dignity and self-respect to survive. For our businesses, it hampers the ability to invest, inhibits hiring of new workers and retards growth. The shocks of the COVID pandemic have been exacerbated by the Russian war in Ukraine. The impact on food and fuel prices has been felt worldwide. The global trends impact us in SVG as local prices soar. I do grocery shopping frequently in Kingstown, – my own errands or when Mrs Friday gives me her shopping list, purchasing from the vendors and the supermarkets. So, I see the increases first-hand. And I, too, have questioned the cashiers from time to time to check if the price of one item or another was not an error, because it had increased so much.Over the past 8 months, the prices of food, fuel and other goods have risen considerably. Current prices at a rural shop on the mainland show that a pound of chicken back has increased from $1.75 to $2.50; leg quarts from $3.00 to $4.00; turkey from $3.50 to $5.00; a small margarine from $4.95 to $6.50; 1 litre of cooking oil from $10.95 to $16.00; a bag of penny loaf bread from $2.00 to $3.00. The cost of electricity has risen a lot. The fuel surcharge was 28 cents per unit in March 2021 and was raised to 72 cents by July this year. In a recent survey reported in a local newspaper, nearly 82 per cent of respondents said that the hikes in cooking oil, electricity and food prices have caused them to cut back on basic food items with many saying they are now paying $200 more for the same basket of goods bought before these increases. Gasoline at the pump is now at an all-time high of $18.16 per gallon. Obviously, the high gas price makes things harder for all motorists and puts pressure on minibus operators, taxi drivers and fisherfolk who use fuel in their work daily.High cost of living is not some fleeting phenomenon that will pass in another month or two; it is expected to be with us for quite some time. The government has a duty to do everything it can to cushion the blows of rising costs on households and protect our communities. Further delay in taking relief measures will only cause more pain and suffering for Vincentians.Acrossthe OECS and the wider Caribbean, governments have cut fuel taxes, reduced import charges, controlled the prices of basic goods, increased direct support to those most in need and helped with utility bills. Wherever I go in the country, I hear the cry from ordinary people that they need help. “Why is the government not helping me with the high cost of living?” “Do they even have a plan to deal with this problem?”Dayafter day, it becomes more difficult to make ends meet. I know of your struggle to pay light bills, to put food on the table, and to buy shoes, clothes, books to send your children back to school in September. A few days of road work might help a bit but can’t cover most of the bills. More relief is needed.Wein the NDP have a plan to immediately help to ease the effects of rising cost of living and ensure that we protect families. We urge the following:

“Obligations

Speak to Yourself and Answer
One book that has helped me think about these two sets of virtues is Lonely Man of Faith, which Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik wrote in 1965. Soloveitchik noted that there are two accounts of creation in Genesis and argued that these represent the two opposing sides of our nature, which he called Adam I and Adam II. Modernising Soloveitchik’s categories a bit, we could say that Adam I is the career-oriented, ambitious side of our nature. Adam I is the external, résumé Adam. Adam I wants to build, create, produce, and discover things. He wants to have high status and win victories. Adam II is the internal Adam. Adam II wants to embody certain moral qualities. Adam II wants to have a serene inner character, a quiet but solid sense of right and wrong–not only to do good but to be good. Adam II wants to love intimately, sacrifice self in the service of others, live in obedience to some transcendent truth, and have a cohesive inner soul that honours creation and one’s own possibilities. While Adam I wants to conquer the world, Adam II wants to obey a calling to serve the world. While Adam I is creative and savours his own accomplishments, Adam II sometimes renounces worldly success and status for the sake of some sacred purpose. While Adam I asks how things work, Adam II asks why things exist, and what ultimately we are here for. While Adam I wants to venture forth, Adam II wants to return to his roots and savour the warmth of a family meal. While Adam I’s motto is ‘Success’, Adam II experiences life as a moral drama. His motto is ‘Charity, love and redemption.’Soloveitchik argued that we live in the contradiction between these two Adams. The outer, majestic Adam and the inner, humble Adam are not fully reconcilable. We are forever caught in self-confrontation. We are called to fulfill both personae, and must master the art of living forever within the tension between these two natures.Thehard part of this confrontation is that Adam I and II live by different logics. Adam I–-the creating, building, and discovering Adam–lives by a straightforward utilitarian logic. It’s the logic of economics. Input leads to output. Effort leads to reward. Practice makes perfect. Pursue self-interest. Maximise your utility. Impress the world. Adam II lives by an inverse logic. It’s a moral logic, not an economic one. You have to give to receive. You have to surrender to something outside yourself to gain strength within yourself. You have to conquer your desire to get what you crave. Success leads to the greatest failure, which is pride. Failure leads to the greatest success, which is humility and learning. In order to fulfill yourself, you have to forget yourself. In order to find yourself, you have to loseToyourself.nurture your Adam I career, it makes sense to cultivate your strengths. To nurture your Adam II moral core, it is necessary to confront your weaknesses. We live in a culture that fosters ADAM 1, the external Adam and neglects Adam II. We live in a society that encourages us to think about how to have a great career but leaves many of us inarticulate about how to cultivate our inner life. The competition to succeed and win admiration is so fierce that it becomes all-consuming. The consumer marketplace encourages us to live by a utilitarian calculus, to satisfy our desires and lose sight of the moral stakes involved in everyday decisions.Thenoise of fast and shallow communications makes it harder to hear the quieter sounds that emanate from the depths. We live in a culture that teaches us to promote and advertise ourselves and to master the skills required for success, but that gives little encouragement to humility, sympathy, and honest selfconfrontation, which are necessary for building character. If you are only Adam I, you turn into a shrewd animal, a crafty, selfpreserving creature adept at playing the game and turning everything into a game. If that’s all you have, you spend a lot of time cultivating professional skills, but you don’t have a clear idea of the sources of meaning in life, so you don’t know where you should devote your skills, which career path will be highest and best. Years pass, and the deepest parts of yourself go unexplored and unstructured. You are busy, but you have a vague anxiety that your life has not achieved its ultimate meaning and significance. You live with an unconscious boredom, not really loving or attached to the moral purposes that give life its worth. You lack the internal criteria to make unshakable commitments. You never develop inner constancy, the integrity that can withstand popular disapproval or a serious blow. You find yourself doing things that other people approve of, whether these things are right for you or not. You foolishly judge other people by their abilities, not by their worth. When you do not have a strategy to build character, your inner and external life will eventually fall to pieces. Which Adam are we determined to become? Most of this column came from David Brooks’ bestseller The Road to Character. It was first published on January 6, 2017. Hiding From Reality
Views
“THERE ARE MANY PLACES where we choose to hide. And in the hiding, we soon realize that hiding never eliminates what we are hiding from.” Craig D. Lounsbrough – American author and councellor. The general public is becoming increasingly aware of the signs and symptoms of emotional distress and/or mental illnesses. These situations seem to plague so many individuals and homes in our society. Sometimes the varied stresses and strains of life appear to lure individuals to seek a place of escape via alcohol, illicit sexual activities, drug use, and a host of other societal ills. To some, these become means of escape … places to hide from their problems and woes. Unfortunately, such activities tend to further debilitate the individuals who may find that their pursuit of a hiding place in such activities can magnify and further complicate their problems. We empathise with those who gravitate to alcohol and/or drugs when life appears to be unkind. The feeling of abandonment, guilt, shame, or failure can create dark moments. The resulting emotional depression can beckon the unsuspecting to find relief at all cost. Those dark moments (when the emotions are frail can numb) can be especially dangerous as many may search for quick fixes aimed at blotting out the particular crisis. Unfortunately, such approaches may temporarily deaden the awareness of the situation but they do not make them go away. Ignoring unpleasant realities do not make them vanish. A better approach would be to face the facts and determine how best to resolve the specific challenge.
Taylor Armstrong (born 1971), the American television personality and star of The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills on Bravo, in her book titled “Hiding from Reality: My Story of Love, Loss, and Finding the Courage Within”, testifies of the terrible pain that is experienced via domestic abuse. She provides a timely reminder that there are individuals who are prisoners in their marriages. Some unions that are intended to portray love and acceptance can be far removed from the romantic episodes that they initially promised to be. The dream of love can vaporise or, in some cases, evolve to become a long, lonely, traumatic nightmare. The desirable peace and joy in such a union can morph to generate immense unfriendliness and anger. Children who grow up in such “hostile” environments could understandably become traumatised. This, in turn, can severely impact their social, emotional, spiritual, and academic development. In their innocence, they can develop antisocial behaviours that seem to aid them in hiding from reality. Because of the likely damage to children, some parents seek to “fake it until the children are old enough to understand the dilemma”. However, many youngsters are able to “read the game” and to see beyond the fake smiles and superficial love greetings. In such instances they may suffer silently hoping, wishing, and/or praying that the situation would improve. Research has also shown that some children may even blame themselves for the unhealthy domestic situation and, in turn, be burdened down by additional guilt. Life will always present us with a combination of good times and bad times. There will be moments of joy but these will periodically be punctuated by sadness. There will be times for laughter and there will be times for tears. The writer of the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes reminds us that “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). This is how life is. There will be times when we are on the top of the mountain (elated with joy) but there will also be times when we will be down in the valley (unhappy, deflated, depressed, etc.). However, it is imperative that we develop healthy coping mechanisms for those times when life ushers in moments of pain and disappointment. We will be foolish and naive to assume that life will always “lead us beside still waters”. There will also be moments when we must traverse the “valley of the shadow of death”. We should not fear those moments when bad times occur. But we must be mentally, spiritually, and emotionally prepared for them … before they occur. Anticipating those disappointing times may be considered a good start to our preparing for the same.

RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN THINKING about the difference between the résumé virtues and the eulogy virtues. The résumé virtues are the ones you list on your résumé, the skills that you bring to the job market and that contribute to external success. The eulogy virtues are more profound. They’re the virtues that get talked about at your funeral, the ones that exist at the core of your being––whether you are kind, brave, honest or faithful; what kind of relationships you formed. Most of us would say that the eulogy virtues are more important than the résumé virtues. Still, I confess that family, friends and society demand that we spend more time thinking about resume rather than eulogy. Our education system is certainly oriented around the résumé virtues more than the eulogy ones. Public conversation is, too–-the selfhelp tips in magazines, the nonfiction bestsellers. Most of us have more precise strategies for how to achieve career success than we do for developing a profound character.
V
Bryant McGill (born 1969), an American social activist, provides us with useful guidance as we seek to be mentally prepared for life’s hurts, disappointments, and challenges. He provides useful guidance that equip us to face them with confidence rather than seeking to hide from them. He notes that, “Your suffering needs to be respected. Don’t try to ignore the hurt, because it is real. Just let the hurt soften you instead of hardening you. Let the hurt open you instead of closing you. Let the hurt send you looking for those who will accept you instead of hiding from those who reject you.” These words are pregnant with wisdom. They encourage us to face our trials and troubles with confidence. They reassure us as we look for the good even in the situations that initially appear to be bad. Pressure, conflict, and difficulties are not all bad. If we look long and hard enough, we soon realise that they help to make us stronger … if we see them as allies rather than as foes. And for those of us who seek to live Christian (Christlike) lives, we realize that many of life’s disasters are blessings in disguise — they draw us closer to our God and creator. In our weaknesses we can portray His strength. When life forces us to our knees we can look up to Him and find strength and courage to go on. We need not hide from reality. As challenging as they may be, we can face them with confidence. Pain, in all of its forms (i.e., physical, emotional, or mental), invite us to cower and cringe. And sometimes there is value in retreating to that “safe place” where we seem to have a sense of protection and security. However, we are cautioned to be so very careful in relation to the place that we select to be our shelter and the duration of our sojourn in that location. A temporary retreat may have its value but we see much greater value in facing up to the challenge or trauma that beckons us to find a hiding place — pretending that the threat is insignificant. If we must hide, the safest place is to hide in the Rock of Jesus Christ. Many can testify of the lives, homes, workplaces, neighbourhoods, and church assemblies that have faced up to life’s varied challenges and, with God’s help and the help of His people, have found real peace and contentment having refused to hide from reality.

SVG economy in worst condition in living memory
1 Corintians 2:14 is instructive.
ACCORDING to the Leader of SVG Green Party, Warrant Officer Ivan Bertie O’Neal BSc (Hons), MSc, MBA, SVG’s economy is in its worst condition in living memory under the poorly educated ULP regime. Electricity bills are outrageously high, as are water bills and the price of many food products. SVG’s economic structure under the Labour Party led by Cato, The New Democratic Party led by Sir James Mitchell and the useless and very poorly educated ULP regime, has not been strong enough to create a fiscal surplus for even one year, and successive governments have failed to move SVG into prosperity. The ULP regime simply does not understand that the SVG economy cannot grow unless we increase the number of products that are exported. Creating new products expands the economy, and in order to create new products, especially in light industries and agro-processing, we must build factories. We must also build our own university and educate our people to universityWarrantlevel.Officer Ivan Bertie O’Neal BSc (Hons), MSc, MBA lived in Singapore with his wife and three children from 1963 to 1965. The then highly educated Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew — who was educated at Cambridge University, Englandmoved Singapore into a knowledgebased economy with free high-quality education for every child in Singapore. High quality education is free to every person in Singapore - Chinese, Malay, Indian and mixed race. Importantly, in Singapore there are no white enclaves that are exempt from tax and customs duty. Whereas in SVG, Taiwan and the Migrants in Mustique and Canouan are exempt from tax and customs duty, even though the Black, Poor and Powerless indigenous population must pay tax and customs duty. It is very clear that privilege accorded by race is a major obstacle to progress in SVG. White Racism was thrown out of South Africa and, according to Warrant Officer Ivan Bertie O’Neal BSc (Hons), MSc, MBA, racism will be thrown out of SVG too. It is only a matter of time, and we will see the back of Taiwan too. High quality education must become the driving force of SVG and we must see the back of Taiwan and the Migrants of Mustique and Canouan. These three groups have been milking our country for years. All we have to show for having a relationship with Taiwan and the Migrants in Mustique and Canouan over these past decades is extensive poverty and destitution of the Poor and the powerless indigenous population.Acountry without a very highly educated population is vulnerable to abuse by parasites. That is why this could never happen in Singapore, a highly educated society. The ULP regime has shown since 2001 that they are too poorly educated to create sustainable sources of revenue and a fiscal surplus. They are unable to move our country into prosperity.
Leadership
V
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned”. So, in conclusion, great leaders always pave the way for others to follow, but it is left to the incumbent to follow that chosen path as directed by God Almighty. Right, not might, is the recipe for success. And historically, our best leaders are those who have a firm belief in the Almighty and who adhere to His principles, of honesty, fairness and compassion for humanity, and who leads his team with humility and spiritual guidance.
10. FRIDAY, AUGUST 26, 2022. THE VINCENTIAN Views
The editorial of THE VINCENTIAN of July 22, 2022 had a most enlightening opinion, one that should make a great topic for debate among students. It also beckoned, without saying it in as many words, that if we don’t guide and mould our young minds, they will grow accustomed to warped and confusing ideologies. And here is where instruction from the Holy Bible is most Fromuseful.myreading of the books of Kings and the Chronicles of their reigns, one recurring observation emerged … whenever the leaders followed God’s instructions there was a time of prosperity, but from the time they rejected His laws, perils, including death, war, and slavery, were their reward. But how are leaders chosen or how do they Historically, rise? leaders in tribal settings were the physically strong, like our own Chatoyer. They emerged as leaders from their hunting prowess and/or victories in battle. Their bravery and physical strength made them natural leaders. Other leaders assumed that regal position by being part of a ‘royal family’, so whenever the King or ruling Queen dies, the eldest son becomes the king. The Bible is replete with examples of the latter, Joash being the youngest of them all. I mentioned Joash because he was orphaned by a wicked queen called Athaliah but divinely spared by his babysitter, and was sheltered in a temple by high priest Johaida who also taught him how to follow God’s instructions thereby having a successful reign of forty years. Read 2 Kings 12. So the success of leaders who rise through natural succession, depends to a great degree on the teachings they get and follow. There are other forms of leadership that really don’t last due to connivance, and self-aggrandizement. Absalom, one of King David’s sons, was handsome and had some influence in David’s kingdom. He fell in with some younger men and some older ones too, who advised him to get rid of his father and take control of the Kingdom his father literally fought to save for him and the Jewish people from foreign invaders. David had even killed the Phillistine Goliath among his many military exploits. When King David got news of the assassination plot, he ran for his life, on the way collecting Goliath’s sword for protection. Absalom followed in hot pursuit, but during the ensuing battle that took place in a forest, Absalom’s thick hair got caught in a low hanging branch while riding his mule, leaving him dangling in midair, where he was found and executed by one of David’s generals. So yes, good and bad leaders are allowed by the Almighty, but their outcomes are not the same: good leaders end up good, bad leads …..the opposite. There is much we can learn about leadership from the Bible, Moses and Jesus being the best examples. Moses’ leading the Israelites from bondage in Egypt was a journey that could have taken just forty days; it lasted for up to forty years in the desert. The delay was not of Moses’ making, it was occasioned by the Israelites who had grown accustomed to a foreign culture that encouraged eating meat. God changed their diet for forty years and instructed them along the way by giving mankind the 10 Commandments to guide us through life. The most important aspect of leadership is teamwork. Moses, during the Exodus, had to settle disputes among the Israelites on a daily basis, hearing cases from sun up to sundown. Having over half a million people out in a hot desert environment in close contact would inevitably cause friction and strife. But his wise father-in-law, Jethro, advised him to choose honest men to judge the people. This intelligent move took the stress off of Moses, so that he could have more interaction with God who was instructing him. Jesus, God incarnate (in the flesh), could have done it all by himself, because He is the Son of the Living God, but He chose to work with a team of disciples and followers of diverse origins and occupations. Matthew and Zaccheus were tax collectors; Luke was a doctor; Peter and his brothers were fishermen; Saul turned Paul was a tent maker. He also used women, close followers like Mary Magdalene, whom He used to proclaim the gospel after His mission on earth was completed. This is a mystery with which only fools fail to come to grips.

King US naking@verizon.netCORRESPONDENT WITH BRIGHT SUNSHINE AND THEtemperature hovering around the high 80s, it was a picture-perfect return on Saturday of the annual, massive Vincy Day USA Picnic, as thousands of Vincentians and friends of Vincentians converged on Heckscher State Park in East Islip, Long Island, New York after a two-year break in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Picnic-goers trekked from near and far — as far as Toronto and California, but primarily from Brooklyn, where most Vincentians in the US Diaspora reside — for the 10th anniversary of the day-long celebration that involved, among other things, mouth-watering Vincy cuisine, local drinks and entertainment.
“I missed seeing Junior with his songs being played,” said Sharon, holding in her arms “Soca Jones’s” granddaughter Khloe, with Eneka adding: “I feel it was a very good sentiment of the Committee to know he was an essential part to get this forward.”Falani Richards, “Supadex’s”, only daughter, said receiving the award with her brother, Franklyn Malik Richards, was“We“bitter-sweet.”camewithhim every year (to the picnic), except for one year,” Falani told THE VINCENTIAN. “We had no choice but to Toneycome.”told the award ceremony that he was “honored and appreciative for this award.”“Had it not been for Junior ‘Soca’ Jones, there would not be a Vincy Day USA,” he said. “On a personal note, many of you are aware of my medical challenges. On the eastern side of the sprawling grounds, the Charles Family of Barrouallie, a town in Central Leeward, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, like so many families, shared their food — pelau — and snacks with picnic-goers. One member of the Charles Family said: “This is a day for sharing. Nothing is sold here.”
New Consul General present Newly-appointed St. Vincent and the Grenadines Consul General to the United States Rondy “Luta” McIntosh, a popular soca artiste, paid tribute to “Soca Jones”, stating that he was “breaking all ranks” in singing “I tell myself…Leave Me Alone.” Prior to recognizing “Soca Jones”, “Supadex” and Windsor, McIntosh told picnic-goers that he is “going to be a Consul General with a difference. “I’ll be a man of the people,” he said. “No position can make me feel better than anyone else. “Vincy Day must grow,” McIntosh urged. “I’m going to work with all the groups. There’s no reason why the Soca and Calypo Monarchs (in St. Vincent and the Grenadines) are not here.”
The Charles family of Barrouallie was living testimony to the intended family focus of the Picnic.

Now is the time to review hurricane plans and make sure your property is ready for hurricane season. Here are some tips:

HURRICANE FORECASTERS OF the National Hurricane Centre, Miami, Florida, were on Tuesday afternoon tracking two disturbances in the Atlantic, as the tropics enter what has historically been the busiest time of the season. As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to the forecasters, a large area of disturbed weather “has formed and is several hundred miles southeast of the Windward Islands. It is expected to move into the southeastern Caribbean”.Thesystem is currently disorganized, forecasters said, but environmental conditions could become more conducive for development in a few days. Some slow development of this system is possible late this week or over the weekend, forecasters said. It has a 20% chance of developing into at least a tropical depression within five days.Forecaster said, however, that a tropical wave “is forecast to move off the west coast of Africa in a couple days and then move west at 10 to 15 mph”.The categories, in order of increasing strength, are tropical depression, tropical storm and hurricane (categories 1 through 5). Systems are named when they develop into a tropical storm.
* Review your insurance policies.
* Plan your evacuation route and have an alternate route.
Further development is no longer expected for a second tropical wave that’s several hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, forecasters said.Busy season In the last 100 years, the tropics have been the most active in August, September and October, with Sept. 10 being the peak of the season, according to federal forecasters. About 80% of the systems that have hit the Gulf Coast formed during this time, according to the National Weather Service in Slidell. So far, there have been three named storms this season - Alex, Bonnie and Colin. The next available name is Danielle if any of the disturbances strengthen into at least a tropical Hurricanestorm.season ends Nov. 30, but storms can form any time.

Unique Royal Navy ship visits SVG
On Monday 22nd during a reception with government officials and the media, Captain of HMS
Resident British High commissioner to SVG, Steve Moore expressed gratitude to the government for hosting the crew. “It’s reassuring to know that HMS Protector or its successor, HMS Medway will be in the region during hurricane season and could offer support, if needed. Plus, it’s always mutually beneficial when they are able to visit SVG in ‘peace time’. I’m grateful to the Prime Minister, the Police, the Coast Guard and NEMO for hosting them in SVG and to Captain Ingham and her crew for their hospitality engagementandduring the visit.
The ship has been in the Caribbean for five weeks and is expected to stay for another three weeks transitioningbefore to the Antarctic region, at which time a sister ship from the British Royal Navy will come to the region to provide any emergency assistance during the hurricane, if required.“Inthis season from June to November, there is always a British Royal Navy ship on standby and ready to open up the routes for the others that are waiting in the UK to come and assist,” the commander said. Speaking further about the ship’s unique ability, Ingham said that the ship is designed to go to some of the most inhospitable places on Earth, like Antarctica. “So it’s designed to go way over the horizon without communications for long periods of time almost like explorers 100-200 years ago.”
He noted that the navy’s work under the Atlantic Patrol Tasking North involves “going ashore and working with the communities that we go to visit, and working with the governments that we go to visit to ensure that what they’ve got is as prepared as it possibly can be.”

The crew includes a team of Hydrographers, who undertake exploratory surveys and ensure that environmental guidelines are being upheld.

Her history with men and marriage is something to be considered but not to be used against her. Do your due diligence and once you feel the nudge to go forward then do so. George Dear George, SO I HADthis girl from the country — no place named. I live in Boston and I trusted her to take care of my finances, my banking, etc. I sent over 1000 dollars to her every 2 weeks to deposit into my account and she swore by all heavens that my money was safe. On a recent visit home, I checked on my account. It showed a balance of $1,500 EC. It should have been thousands. On inquiry, I was told that she spent my money on a man. Right now I’m planning how to deal with her and this man. After I am finished, I bet not another woman will want to mess with my money.Shemust have restless nights until I’m done with her. I’m still trying to figure why women can be so wicked.
Even though you trusted her to deposit your money, you could have been more astute. It was incumbent on you to ask for your receipts or even bankExplorestatements.yourlegal options to see whether there is any recourse but do not resort to physical violence if that’s what in your thoughts.
Used and Abused. Dead Used and Abused, There is no way that this woman is representative of all women. There are women out there who are not like that.
Dear George, I’M AT the stage of my life where I need to settle down. I have many women who will make good wives, however, none of them are as rich as this one I’m writing about. She has been married four times and I know she wants to marry me. She claims I would make her a great husband and she would make me a great wife. George, I’m not as wealthy as this woman and I do not want her to think I’m afterburner money. I’m afraid she would use her money and status to control me. I do not want to be ex-husband number 5. It is rumored she left her husbands because she had no more use for them. It is also rumored she is after sex and that’s attractiveShethat.isextremelyyes, andI am not sure she wants me for me. I’m not sure what her agenda is. How can I be assured she is genuine? Do I just take her word for it? Still Dearsearching Stillsearching, Getting involved intimately with another person requires lots of trust. You will have to trust her to tell you the truth and to be committed to the relationship. There is no guarantee that things will automatically work but with both of you making and honoring your commitment to each, other things can work out just fine.

George
Dear George, IT HAS BEENone year since I started dating my boyfriend. We have been getting along fine and we are getting to know each other more and more each day. I have an issue though. I’ve noticed he does not want to drink from any cup/glass from which I might have drunk. He is very scornful and explains this by saying that it is a habit he has had from small even with his siblings. Not so long ago he wanted to have oral sex and I refused. How come he wanted me to drink from his cup and he from mine? I’ve told him that until he changes his stance and stop scoring me, he will be met with the same treatment. It’s only fair. He is making a big stint over it and I cannot see why. Do so Nah Like so Dear Do so, I guess your solution to the problem as articulated should work or at the very least cause your boyfriend to rethink his position. If he can kiss you or have no problem having oral sex with you, then you putting your mouth on any of his utensils should be a non-issue.
Starting again is always rough but very doable once you have the right mindset. And while you are at it, speak with your bank to see how you can deal directly with them in the future.
Sharing a cup and oral sex Husband Number 5? Ripped off!!!!

In making the distinction between the styles, Mitchum detailed, “….a more implicit style of coaching engages the players in decision-making and encourages them to ask questions instead of simply telling them what it is they are doing right or wrong. It is to find out from them if they are aware of what it is they are doing and how they can do it better. In short, it encourages feedback from the players.” Mitchum was of the view that the implicit style “creates a greater awareness within the players and also helps them to become better decision makers instead of them becoming over reliant on the coaches as is the outcome of the explicit style.” The programme is being offered through the region, in cooperation with Territorial Boards. Participants must satisfy the three prerequisites, i.e., a police record, a Child Protection Certificate and a CWI/ICC Foundation Course Certificate.

Vincentian football fans will mix their Nine Mornings activities with attention to the third place clash December 17 and the final set for December 18. FIFA has announced changes for the 2026 World Cup which will be staged in 16 cities across Mexico USA and Canada. With 48 teams in that campaign, the extra 16 countries will cherish the opportunity to shine of the World’s biggest football stage. That will be an incentive for Caribbean countries to wend their way into the mix, for that will be part of the CONCACAF network, and nothing should stand in their way. Entry into that circle will not come by wishful thinking. There will have to be deliberate and decisive measures to ensure participation. The Caribbean has shown the ability to match up to their bigger regional counterparts. They have to put the talk aside and prove action. While we prepare for the impending competition, systems must be put in place for that 2026 event. It cannot be veering towards qualifiers that attention shifts to preparing a squad. The objective must be to nurture a squad to get ready for the clashes, and ensure teams are ready for the task.
