A KEY WITNESS for the prosecution in a murder Preliminary Inquiry (PI) told the Court on Tuesday that a police officer whoM he identified as “Sergeant LaBorde,” promised to drop two robbery charges he was facing, if he testified that the murder accused told him (witness) he (accused) was the killer. Providence, 29, was charged with the murder of 80-year-old Ulric Hercules of Arnos Vale, which reportedly occurred at Arnos Vale between January 31 and February 1, 2012. An autopsy showed that Hercules died from manual strangulation.

When Pinder took the stand, Prosecutor Inspector Adolphus Delpleche asked him to tell the court what he knew about the incident. Pinder said he could not recall anything. When the Prosecutor asked if he had given a statement to the police, Pinder replied in the affirmative. Pinder also admitted that the statement was read back to him and he signed it. However, when the prosecutor asked Pinder if he wanted the court’s permission to refresh his memory from the statement, he said,”No”.
