Children get egg-cited for Easter at Lariccia Center By ALEXIS BARTOLOMUCCI abartolomucci@vindy.com
The Easter Bunny hopped its way to the Lariccia Family Community Center on March 8 and 9 for an evening with the Easter Bunny. A two-night Dinner with the Easter Bunny event took place at Boardman Park for children and their families to celebrate Easter and the upcoming spring season. Families spent the evening visiting the Easter Bunny, eating a meal, making different crafts and also petting a real rabbit. Families enjoyed the twohour event by eating a meal when they first got there. After the meal, the children and their families went into the joining room to work on crafts and get a picture with the Easter Bunny. “They get to enjoy the spring and Easter season as a family,” said Karen McCallum, the rec-
reation director of Boardman Park. The children lined up to visit the Easter Bunny and tell them what they were hoping to find in their Easter basket. There were also several tables set up with different art projects for the children to work on. There was a picture for the children to color in with paint, a paper bag and other supplies to transform the bag into a rabbit and different types of paper to make Easter cards with. For the last three to four years, a member of the 4H club brought in her rabbit, Patches, for the children to pet. Patches was a black and white rabbit who attracted a lot of attention. The children rushed over to pet him and feel how soft a real bunny is. “It’s that kind of magic, it’s Neighbors | Alexis Bartolomucci that fun, that experience that’s Vinny Melewski worked on coloring in his picture with paints that were availpart of our programming at the able for a craft at the Easter Bunny event. park,” McCallum.

Psychologist speaks to Boardman community By ALEXIS BARTOLOMUCCI abartolomucci@vindy.com
Boardman community members and Boardman faculty members visited Dr. Ray Guarendi at Boardman Glenwood Middle School on March 1. Guarendi, a clinicial psychologist, is a husband and father of 10 children and travels around the nation to give presentations. Guarendi gives educational presentations on family matters and parenting while being engaging and entertaining for
the audience. He tries to become relatable to the audience by speaking about his own personal experiences. The Boardman PTA and the Boardman Local School District organized the presentation to bring Guarendi back. Guarendi has visited Boardman before, being a native of Canton. “I personally believe what you are witnessing in American parenting today is unprecedented in human history,” Guarendi told the crowd. Guarendi discussed the top-
ics “You’re a Better Parent Than You Think,” “Back to the Family,” and “Lessons For Life From Children.” Discipline was a big factor in his presentation and the different topics he talked about related back to discipline. He discussed different types of discipline, how different people discipline their children and that discipline is what helps form how children act as adults. The presentation also included free child care, which helped those people who had to bring their children.
Trees on trees Join artist, illustrator and author Dar James for a hands-on painting workshop that celebrates trees. Register and pay by April 12 for this event hosted by Fellows Riverside Gardens on April 14 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $34, FFRG $28.

Trespassing: After responding to a possible attempted burglary on Vineland Place, officers charged 24-year-old Jonathan J. Wetzel of Larkridge Avenue, Boardman, with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct while intoxicated. An intoxicated Wetzel pushed his way into an apartment, startling the occupant, and was found on a couch, a report showed.
