Students learn ‘The Legend of the Pretzel’ Neighbors | Submitted
The Early Childhood Learning Center at St. Luke’s in Boardman pre-k and transitional kindergarten students had a special visit from Crumbles Bakery in Youngstown on April 6. Students learned about “The Legend of the Pretzel,” which states that a long time ago, an Italian monk created pretzels as a special treat for students that learned their prayers. The monk cut bread dough into a special shape. The unique shape of a pretzel is like a child with folded praying arms. The preschool age students were able to roll the dough, shape into pretzels and enjoy them as a special Lenten treat. Pictured are, from left, Hunter Campbell and Dane Mohl, rolling out pretzel dough.

In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in. You can email us at neighbors@vindy.com. You don’t have to be a writer — just send us the information and we’ll put it all together. When emailing pictures, send them as JPEG files and as large as possible. Provide caption information and where people are located from left to right, front row to back. The sports news we’re looking for ranges from varsity high school teams down to middle school and even elementary and recreational leagues. We look forward to hearing about your teams successes.
