Members of Poland Interact Club volunteered on April 25 to clean up the grounds around Poland Seminary High School for Earth Day.
Day clean up students have planned a variety of service projects for the year. Students have pla nned a book drive, collecting books from high school students to donate to local organizations. The club will also be joining
up with the high school’s student council to clean up Clingan Road in May. “We have a lot of big projects planned,” said club advisor Chris Martin. “The students are very dedicated to the group.”
He explained that the students are responsible for coming up with the ideas for the group projects themselves. “They are very dedicated, I have students coming into my office every day with new ideas,” Martin said.

Ford Nature Center hosts bunny scavenger hunt By JESSICA HARKER jharker@vindy.com
The Mill Creek Metro Parks hosted a bunny scavenger hunt the week before Easter. Community members were able to go to the Ford Nature Center starting on April 15 to search for the hidden bunnies. More than 20 photos of rabbits, that were found in the Mill Creek Park, were posted on the walls of the center. Each photo was accompanied by an interesting fact about bunnies. Community members that were able to find all 20 rabbits told the front desk who gave
them an award. Children got to choose between pencils and other Easter themed treats for their prize. After the indoor search the park encouraged community members to take a hike along one of the many available trails and have a real life scavenger hunt for the local bunny population. This event is a series of holiday themed scavenger hunts hosted by the park. Earlier this year, community members searched the center for turkeys to celebrate Thanksgiving. For more information on upcoming park events, go to www. millcreekmetroparks.org.

The library’s kindergarten readiness stations are in every library branch and feature fun activities for you and your preschool child to complete together. For the month of May, the stations focus on Approaches Toward Learning — the attitude that children bring to social interactions and learning experiences. The stations will encourage initiative and curiosity. They will also develop the children’s level of attention, engagement and persistence as they complete fun activities. These factors are consistent predictors of academic success. Stop by the Poland branch to visit kindergarten readiness stations and help your child build these important skills.
Trim a tree Decorate an ornament for our all-seasons trees during Poland library hours for the month of May. This program is for children of all ages.
