The dinner has been a tradition for more than 25 years, which shows the commitment of the community to the school system. It’s an event that brings in a full crowd of senior citizens, many who have been coming for several years. “It allows us to build close relationships with residents and people in the administration and the student volunteers,” said Benyo. The event allows the commu-

nity to stay connected and help build support within the school system. “It’s good for everybody in the community to come out and see what Fitch is about,” said freshman Julia Brooks, who has been helping for three years. Brooks started working the dinner when she was in middle school and plans on working the event throughout her time at Fitch. She believes it’s a nice thing to do for the community and a way to bring them back into the schools. The next Senior Citizens Dinner will take place in the fall.
