If you are like most home owners, you will likely do a significant amount of online research to find the remodeler who is best suited for you and your home. But with all of that collective “wisdom” available online, it can be hard to tell which reviews are the most accurate, or at the very least, which ones are legitimate. Proceed with Caution The Internet makes it easy to find a wealth of information with just a few quick clicks of the mouse. Much of what you find will provide some useful background, but you can’t believe everything you see or read. When looking through customer rating sites, use good judgment to weigh the value of certain online reviews (positive or negative). Keep in mind • An abundance of positive, brief, nondescript reviews that use excessively promotional language can often indicate phony reviewers. • Customers who had a positive experience are far less likely to post a review than customers who had any sort of negative experience. • Reading at least a dozen reviews is im-

portant to recognize any possible trends – good and bad – among the reviews. • The Better Business Bureau, www. bbb.org, is a good resource to ensure the business doesn’t have any unresolved complaints. • The HBA of the Valley is a good resource to find contractors, builders, landscapers and remodelers from every classification of construction. The techniques he discussed supplied the necessary information for attendees to become more successful. According to Blasko, “my goal is to provide techniques and methods that provide Realtors® the knowledge to become more successful in relationship building, goal setting and career building. Ultimately that creates trust, which creates great community strength.” Realtors® from agencies across Mahoning and Trumbull Counties were in attendance. In addition to a fun evening, all participants received two hours of continuing education, a requirement of the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Real Estate Licensing. “What I’m taking away from this class is amazing. Our business isn’t just about

the housing market, it’s about trust and integrity,” stated Michael Schaeffer of Real Living Brokers Realty Group. The May sales report released recently by the National Association of BLASKO Realtors® shows a housing market unable to meet the demand from would-be buyers. Many possible buyers are finding their ambitions thwarted because there aren’t enough homes for sale. Sales listings have plummeted 8.4 percent over the past 12 months to 1.96 million. On an annual basis, the number of homes for sale has declined for the past 24 months. Homes are staying on the market for a median of just 27 days, the briefest period since the Realtors® began tracking the measure in 2011. Yvonne Smith, Broker for Real Living Brokers Realty Group, said “we need to continue these educational seminars for all of us in our industry. The strong sales growth speaks volumes of the desire for home ownership right now. Conditions are ideal for sellers and are extremely competitive for buyers.
