he latest look at the Ohio housing marketplace reveals an uptick in list prices, sharp declines in the number of homes for sale and significantly shorter market times compared to where the market stood in July 2014. According REALTOR.com’s July 2015 Housing Report, which tracks inventory of for-sale single-family homes and condos, median list prices, inventory levels and days on the market for 300 cities across the country: Our analysis of realtor.com data indicates that the residential real estate market continues to show strong signs of health in July, despite some mixed signals in recent national housing indicators for June. Nationally, the prevailing positive price trend continued with the national median list price increasing to $234,000, up 7 percent year-over-year and 1 percent over June. Median days on market increased to 71 days, down 5 percent year-over-year, but up 7 percent monthover-month. The listings inventory continued to grow faster, at 1 percent over June but was still down over last year. Demand remained strong, with traf-

fic and searches on Realtor.com continuing to set new highs in July. Unique users for the month grew 40 percent y/y, while visits and searches were up more than 50 percent and 25 percent, respectively. Compared to the findings from a year ago, all nine Ohio markets tracked reported an uptick in the median list price in July. The pace of sales quickened from a year ago in six marketplaces. Additionally, inventory levels across Ohio dropped in every market from July 2014 levels. “The marketplace of the Mahoning Valley continues to show positive improvement “ says Dan Dull, President of the Youngstown Columbiana Association of REALTORS®. A Messy Pantry It’s no secret that many homeowners keep pantry doors shut for a reason – it can get a little chaotic inside. Kick the clutter. If an item has been in the pantry for three months or more, you likely won’t use it. Toss expired items and donate any non-perishables you aren’t going to use. Next, wipe down pantry shelves to remove dust and crumbs from hardto-reach corners. Before restocking shelves, lay down a non-adhesive

shelf liner to protect newly cleaned shelves. First, remove any excess debris and then use enough wipes for the surface to remain visibly wet for four minutes. For food-contact surfaces, rinse with clean water. To clean hard, nonporous kitchen cabinet exteriors, wipe the cabinet on the outside and let it dry. Making it a practice to wipe down cabinets weekly will prevent a lot of grease and build-up in the long run. Carve out an afternoon for cleaning remedies that will knock out the mess and pesky germs in no time.
