ABWA to meet Sept. 20 The Network Council of the American Business Women’s Association will sponsor its annual ABW Day on Sept. 20 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield beginning at noon. Studio 32 leaps to the top
Studio 32 Dance Company finished its competition season with tremendous success. Studio 32 attended four highly competitive group regional competitions, a well-regarded nationals and the World Dance Championships with exceptional results throughout this season. At the first regional competition, the dancers not only achieved overa ll standings throughout the competition, but were awarded with the highest scoring routines of the entire competition. The following dances earned this top honor: “The Shack” in the mini division, “There’s Just Time” in the junior division, “Rock N Roll” in the teen division and “July” in the senior division. Throughout the rest of the regiona l season, Studio 32 continued to earn top honors for their routines. The routine “There’s Just Time,” earned first overall for the entire year and earned Tracy Rinehart, owner of the studio, a choreography award. The success of this routine landed them in the “Battle at the Beach” at nationals where they were also awarded National Champions. This season the Studio 32 soloists placed in the overalls at both the regional and national level. Placing first overall this season were Katelyn Bacha, Kat herine Pomponio, Brittany Sellers, Morgan Baytos, Nicole Schmidt and Hannah Rinehart. Also placing in title divisions this season were Brittany Sellers, Isabella Donadee, Katelyn Bacha and Mackenzie Rusu. Hannah Rinehart was awarded titles at numerous regional competitions, and competed with over 20 participants at the national level, where she advanced to the Title Showdown and received third runner up. On Aug. 4, parents and children at the Poland library had the opportunity to meet and speak with firefighters from the Western Reserve Fire District. Western Reserve Fire District inspector and fire education specialist Bill O’Hara came to the library to educate children about fire safety, tell them about a fireman’s duties, show students the gear they have to wear while working and have some fun with treats he brought with him. The Canfield Baseball Club has awarded its annual CBC Schola rship to t wo former players for their involvement with the club over the years. Vincent Leone a nd Ka rina Kennedy were both awarded $500 by CBC President Jack Kucek Aug. 15. “The CBC Scholarship is a way for our club to give back to the kids of the club. We wish we could do more. College is a very important step for our players. Eventually their playing careers will end, but a college degree never ends,” Kucek said. Leone will attend Malone University in the fall to major in Communication Arts and minor in Pastoral Ministr y. Kennedy will attend Kent State University to major in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Leone and Kennedy started playing at the club when they were both 6-years-old, and are thankful for the memo-

On July 31, Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens had the park closed for a special private event to celebrate and support the garden – the Summer Garden Party. Paul Hagman was in charge of this annual event and said he was excited to celebrate the 24th year of the Summer Garden Party. “This is the biggest crowd we
have had,” Hagman said. “It’s been growing and growing – over 2,500 people this year.” The Summer Garden Party was an open invitation, drawing in supporters of the community’s public garden. “This is a great event,” Hagman said. “It is our main fundraiser for the year. ...Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens is a non-profit that helps promote, preserve and maintain the gardens.” Hagman continued that the
