The Youngstown Police Department wants to thank the community for purchasing breast cancer T-shirts. On Oct. 8 at St. Elizabeth’s Boardman Campus, Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley hosted a recognition breakfast for volunteers, donors and supporters. Chris Jaskiewicz, 2015-2016 JA Board Chair, welcomed those in attendance. Special guest speakers included Emily Huggins from Poland who spoke on her personal experience and involvement in the JA Company Program. Now a freshman at Youngstown State University, Huggins has decided to study business in part due to her great experience with Junior Achievement. Also sharing their experiences were Stacey Arroyo, and her son, Cortez, who are part of the I CAN SAVE Program at Taft Elementary supported by The Raymond John Wean Foundation. This event was an opportunity for Junior Achievement to honor several individuals and organizations for their contributions and leadership supporting local programs. The Giant Eagle Foundation awarded Second Harvest Food Bank $10,000 to be used to help feed families in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

YWCA of Youngstown seeking donors for gift-giving project YWCA of Youngstown is seeking individuals and community groups to participate in a donation drive for its Wish Upon A Star holiday gift-giving project. This project is meant to put smiles on the faces of homeless and low-income children served through YWCA programs. New toys, books, games and clothing are needed. Donors may purchase gifts for one child or more. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Gifts will be distributed in early December. Last year, 96 children were helped through the Wish project. Bonding with babies and books Caregivers and their little ones who are 6-23 months can come to MetroParks Farm at 10 a.m. on Nov. 16 for 20 minutes of language enrichment including rhymes, songs and stories, followed by time to play and socialize.

Family, friends and the Canfield soccer community joined the Canfield High School girls soccer team in honoring the five senior members of the varsity team during Senior Night at Bob Dove Field Oct. 7.

For ward Gianna Campana, holding mid and defender Heather Haley, forward Lily Hodge, center midfielder Halee Klacik and defender Cheyenne Story were recognized before the varsity game versus the Austintown Fitch Falcons.

As they were announced, the players and their escorts walked through the double line of their teammates after they were greeted by Head Coach Phil Simone.

Canfield High School alumnus Ashley Haley sang “The National Anthem” prior to the game. Canfield High School student council provided the flowers for the players’ parents.

As part of the celebration, before the game began, the five senior members led their team in running through a hoop banner which recognized the seniors.

The Canfield High School Soccer Boosters offered a reception

in the high school’s cafeteria after the varsity team’s 1-0 victory over Austintown for the families and teammates of the five senior team members. The cafeteria was decorated by the parents of the junior players to honor the senior players, as is the Canfield High School soccer tradition.

With their victory over the Falcons, the Canfield High School girls varsity soccer team clinched the All-American Conference Red Tier champion title.

Normally a time of joy and celebration, the holidays often have a much different effect on those who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Happily Ever After Brooke Gentile v Anthony Crawford Brooke Leigh Gentile and Anthony Crawford exchanged vows at 3 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Lakehouse Inn and Winery, in a ceremony performed by Andrea Bushweiler. The bride is the daughter of Robert J. Gentile of Poland and the late Janet L. Gentile. The groom is the son of the late Terri Crawford.

Mrs. Crawford wore an over the shoulder lace sheath dress.

The bride earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Youngstown State University, and is attending the pediatric nurse practitioner program at Kent State University. She is an emergency room nurse at Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman. The groom graduated from Erie College in Buffalo, N.Y., and is an operator at Rudzik Excavating in Struthers.

The Crawfords live in Hubbard.

Julia Ng v Nicholas Miladore St. Rose Church was the setting for the 2 p.m. Aug. 15 exchange of vows for Dr. Nicholas Miladore and Dr. Julia Ng. The Rev. Jeff Walker officiated the ceremony, and a reception followed at Carranor Hunt and Polo Club.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Terry Ng of Sylvania, Ohio. Drs. Michael and Dianne Miladore of Canfield are parents of the groom.

The bride wore a tulle ball gown with a sweetheart neckline featuring a beaded bodice and beaded belt. It was completed with satin-covered buttons in back and a chapel length train.

Maids of honor were Atty. Meredith Decker and Dr. Ann Evans. Bridesmaids included Cherri Miladore, the groom’s sister-in-law; Dr. Dinah White; Coreen Gallagher; and Cassandra Habeck. Flower girls were Ruby Unger, the groom’s cousin, and Hannah Yang, the bride’s cousin. The attendants wore navy blue dresses.

Samantha Jo Mazzupappa married Joshua Alan McCoy at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 11, 2014, at Cherry Valley Lodge, in a ceremony officiated by the groom’s aunt Rita Myers. The couple hosted a reception on Nov. 1 at St. Paul the Apostle Church Hall in New Middletown.

The bride wore a strapless soft white gown with a full skirt that featured embroidered lace appliques and a sweep train. The ensemble was completed by her mother’s veil attached to her grandmother’s headpiece.

She is the daughter of Samuel and Jo Ann Mazzupappa of Poland. Her husband is the son of Richard and Brenda McCoy of Coshocton, Ohio.

The maid of honor was Mary Harmon, and bridesmaids were Stephanie Driskill and Melanie Israel, the bride’s cousins, and Lauren Stump. The bride’s cousins, Addison Israel and Sophia Driskill were flower girls. The attendants wore lapis-colored dresses.

William Stump performed duties of best man. Groomsmen were Justin Montgomery, Scott Phillips and Ross Mazzupappa, the bride’s brother. The groom’s nephews, Gavin and Landon Albertson, and the bride’s cousins Dominic Driskill and Aiden Israel, were junior groomsmen.

The bride’s cousins, Ally Clifton and Dylan Mazzupappa, were participants.

Mrs. McCoy earned a degree in dental hygiene from Youngstown State University. She is a hygienist for Dr. Desai at Fishinger Dental in Hilliard, Ohio.

Her husband attended Columbus State Community College. He is a welder for Worthington Industries in Columbus.

The couple took a cruise to Grand Turk, Bahamas, and live in Pataskala, Ohio.
