uyers and sellers can feel more confident when their home is protected by a home warranty service agreement.
Ma ny R E A LT OR S ® recommend 2-10 Home Buyers warranty to their clients for comprehensive home warranty coverage. It’s amazing that seven out of 10 homes DULL will experience a system (heating, air-conditioning, plumbing and electrical) or appliance failure within a one year period. Buyer coverage begins upon the close of the sale, payment of fee, and continues for one year. However, coverage is renewable annually at the option of the warranty company. A service agreement with all the coverage details will be mailed to the buyer or information sent electronically if preferred. Seller coverage is during the listing peri-
od upon enrollment and continues up to 180 days, until the sale closes or the listing expires. A service request can be made 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week by calling a 800 telephone number or online. The warranty company will assign an authorized independent contractor to handle your eligible repairs. What does it cost for a year’s worth of home warranty coverage? The base cost is $435 with the customer paying a $100 service fee. However, costs can increase with a variety of optional items. Many times buyers decide to pay an additional $99 for the supreme protection plan that has more extensive coverage. Obviously, there are a variety of factors to consider when making a buying decision. Ask your REALTOR® to provide a home warranty service agreement pamphlet to read and understand all the details.
