Preschool students celebrate 100th day By ALEXIS BARTOLOMUCCI abartolomucci@vindy.com
Samantha Cox’s transitional kindergarten class celebrated its 100th day of preschool on Feb. 18 at Poland North Preschool. The 100th day of school was a special day for Cox’s class. Many of the students, and Cox herself, dressed up like they were 100-years-old. There were several activities for the students to do to celebrate their 100th day. The students created an art activity in
which they made a portrait of themselves as a 100-year-old. For the portraits, the students used crinkled paper for the faces, wallpaper scraps for the clothes and cotton balls for the hair. They added their own special touches by drawing their faces, arms, earrings and other characteristics on themselves with markers. The students also sang a song that involved counting to 100. To end the day, the students completed a journal activity called “I wish I had 100...” The
journals showed what the students wished they had 100 of. There was a variety of things like f ish, dinosaurs, cents, boats and 100 days. Cox’s students also had their President’s Day celebration
on Feb. 18. They made President masks made out of paper plates, construction paper and cotton balls. The masks made the students look like they were wearing top hats and had a beard.

My grandmother was very influential,” said Culp. Cu lp enjoys spea k ing to people in a variety of locations about gardening. One guest complimented Culp on how when he spoke, as

Lawmakers in 27 states have enacted legislation requiring all students to learn CPR prior to their high school graduation. The American Heart Association provided two additional CPR training kits to Lumen Christi Catholic Schools as a result of the over whelming response and success of the Hands Only CPR Program. Girls golf league offered in the community
The Sandwich Factory Girls Golf League is for 5-18 year-olds (in high school) who have an interest in participating in a league with their peers or on their own. The league takes place Saturday mornings at the Mill Creek Par 3 Course. There is a $55 league fee, which must be made payable to the Sandwich Factory Girls Golf League and is due with the application. The green fee is $3.50 per week (pricing subject to change). All rounds are nine holes with a maximum eight shots per hole, maximum five shots to the green allowed and maximum three putts. Opening Day for the league will be May 7. June 11 is picture day. On picture day, participants arrive at the course by 8:30 a.m. for individual and group photos. After pictures, girls will participate in scramble (all ages mixed). The top teams will receive prizes. A picnic will follow the scramble and parents are invit-
ed. June 25 is “Night Golf” and July 23 is closing day. On closing day, there will be a 9:30 a.m. arrival time for a scramble that will be followed by a banquet, prizes and trophy presentation. Pairings will be determined by age groups and/or abilities. All girls will tee off at the same time (shot-gun start) after the boys league concludes. Weekly attendance is strongly encouraged. It is understood that busy schedules and prior commitments will occur, therefore make-up days are allowed. Girls can pre-golf prior to the Saturday missed. An adult must keep score and sign the score card and then turn it in to the Club House. Scores will be posted on league scoreboard prior to leaving the course.
