PALS GRAND FINALE MASSIVE 6 BAND CONCERT, ONLY 5€ weather turns, is without parallel and previous events at the Bahia Hotel have been memorable.

PALS (Protection and Life Saving) have organised a 6-hour, 6 band rock concert at the Bahia Hotel Puerto de Mazarron on Sunday May 29th at which they will present their final and largest ever donation, which according to President Ken Payne is to the value of tens of thousands of Euros. Up until now PALS have donated over 250,000 € of Life Saving and medical equipment to 112, Cruz Roja, the Health centres and Hospitals in and around Mazarron. Others have benefited as well including FAST and the Town of Lorca, who received a donation following the disastrous earthquake. After 16 years of operating as a charity, PALS have now decided to call it a day, having in their mind fulfilled their purpose and this final donation empties the coffers. PALS, have always operated in such a way to ensure that every € donated is spent on charitable causes and in order to ensure this the team at PALS visited the hospitals, Cruz Roja etc. and asked them specifically what was needed and then the charity purchased the items. According to PALS President Ken Payne “This way we could always be sure that the money raised from donations was being entirely spent on items that were needed that would benefit everyone in the local area.” In the past few years dozens of charities have popped up, 17 dog “charities” alone in the Mazarron area, and this has meant that the funds raised are harder to come by and thus

" PALS giving the Red Cross a tent, 8 beds, stretchers, trailer & generator to help replace the children´s ward at Lorca hospital that was damaged in the earthquake"

making the job of providing Life Saving equipment an unattainable task. It was decided that PALS, which was the first registered expat organisation to apply back in 2000 for charitable status in Murcia should bow out with a show to remember and have programmed FAREWELL PALS with the best talent available and promise non-stop music, apart from the presentation, from 6 pm till midnight. The bands that are aiming to please are local heroes Highway 61 to open the show, followed by The Backyard Session on their first visit to Mazarron, then Jokers Inc with their unique twist of music and humour. The duo Itchy Fingers will bridge the change overs and the evening finishes with Black Sheep Puppets and Snowblind who recently returned from a highly successful UK tour. The show will be hosted by Byron and tickets are just 5 Euros. These tickets are available at The Tea Pot and at Yorkshire Linen in Puerto and at Dragontours on Camposol, also at the hotel and on the door. It is recommended that you come early and intend to stay late as space is limited and demand high. Concert style food including Burgers and Hot Dogs will be available on the night and a special discounted room rate of 40€ for a double room, including breakfast has been negotiated at the hotel. This final, monumental donation will benefit everyone in the local area so don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy a great night of entertainment whilst showing your support for this genuine charity. Enquiries should be made to 626 460 465 for the concert and 968 594 000 to reserve a room at the discounted rate.

ANTI JELLYFISH NETS WILL GO UP IN JUNE

The regional government have invested 400,000â‚Ź in 43 Km of nets that will be put in the water in June. The nets are designed to keep the jellyfish out of the bathing areas and reduce the amount of complaints from tourists and summer visitors. 54 beaches along the Mar Menor will benefit from the nets this summer which

apart from keeping jellyfish out also create a barrier for bathers from boats and other water craft. A diver has also been employed this year to check the nets to make sure the sea horses, that tend to attach themselves to the nets, are safely removed before the nets are collected.

Extra Red Cross support for homeless Following an agreement with the Cruz Roja, a new vehicle was presented to workers this week which will tour Orihuela, Guardamar and Callosa del Segura on a weekly basis, offering shower facilities to the homeless. The idea is to give those who lack basic home facilities the chance for

a weekly clean in the vehicle which has been especially adapted to house four shower cubicles, although only two are used on a regular basis, the other two used for storage. The vehicle was presented in Orihuela by the Cruz Roja coordinator in the city, Pilar Ibáñez, and the councillor for Social Welfare, Sabina Galindo, who said that the town hall are providing electricity and water filling points for the vehicle. Every Thursday volunteers across the city and the periphery will head out in search of people living on the streets and provide them with information, advice, companionship, emotional support and even trips to the hospital or health centre. In short, “we inform you of resources and approached them so they can bathe.” This outreach work also visits Callosa de Segura and Guardamar del Segura, where it is not uncommon for between 20 and 40 people to be helped each time. The organisers are also looking at extending the service to cover Torrevieja and Almoradí in the future.

SAVING WATER IN GUARDAMAR The town hall of Guardamar del Segura has collaborated with water supply firm Hidraqua to launch a new water recycling facility that will be used to irrigate the pine forests around the municipality and the castle area. The project involved adapting a pump installation that was built by the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura, ensuring that the water flows through a pumped system towards a routing network that then distributes the water through a sprinkler system in the different areas. The mayor, José Luis Sáez, said that, “this system performs a dual function because it saves using drinking water for irrigation, meaning the residents have a more consistent supply, and by reusing water for irrigation means that it is less pure than that for consumption but rich in nutrients and minerals that help to feed the soil.” The rich water also provides other benefits to the pine forests as it makes them more resistant to pests and parasites that can threaten the health of the trees.

For their part, spokesperson for Hidraqua, Juan José Alonso, said that the responsibility for conserving water lies with us all, therefore, “Hidraqua will continue working in Guardamar for a model of fully sustainable management, allowing us to meet our needs without compromising the resources of future generations.”

A trip of a lifetime This was the first time that the children had seen the sea

Twelve disabled children from Russia visited the Costa Blanca this week, thanks to a collaboration with the Fundación Lukas in Sant Joan, Alicante. The children, who are mostly orphans, flew over four thousand kilometres to sample the sun, sea and even paella on the Mediterranean coast, and for many of them, not only was it the first time they had dipped their toes in the water, it was the first time in their lives they had been given the opportunity to leave their own country and sample something new. The group flew into Madrid before taking the train to Alicante and then a bus to their destination, and bathing in the sea was the first thing on their mind when they saw the Costa Blanca from the windows of the bus. Despite the warnings of the cold, many of the children still insisted on the experience, before returning to base to partake in a variety of cultural workshops and a singalong with the children in their host home.

Having changed hands 3 years ago the business continues with the same quality of service, advice and products and the link is the younger Nick (dad is Nick senior) has worked at The Computer Company for the past Nine years providing the technical expertise that he has built up over the years while dad brings all his experience in sales and marketing to this busy little shop. A good range of stock is also available and on display with new and often refurbished computers for sale with warranties and a backup service that you can rely on. Printers, inks, cables you name it and The Computer Company will probably have it, but if not most items can be ordered and in the shop within a day or two, Mobile phone top ups and unlocking is another of the services available in store.

Sometimes we need some good professional advice and although often we know a certain amount about how to get our computer working there are times when we need a good honest professional to point us in the right direction with advice that is to our benefit not to the shop’s profit margin. That’s where the two Nick’s stand out; offering solid advice knowing that in the long term customers will see that they do the very best for them and return to use their services again, which they do. ‘Twitters from the Atlantic’ Barrie Mahoney was a head teacher and school inspector in the UK, as well as a reporter in Spain, before moving to the Canary Islands to launch and edit a new English language newspaper. He enjoys life in the sun as a columnist and author, and continues to write a series of popular novels, books for expats, as well as designing mobile apps and websites to promote the Canary Islands.

The ‘Would-be’ Expat Several years ago, I launched a new website: www.thecanaryislander.com that was initially designed to support the tourism industry in the face of a looming recession. I soon began to receive emails from many would-be expats, and I began to include pages that related specifically to living and working in the Canary Islands and Spain, which also became the subject of several of my books. The Canary Islander website receives many visitors each week, and the most popular pages continue to be ‘Living and Working in Spain and the Canary Islands’. I receive many emails from would-be expats asking for advice, and although I cannot answer all requests, I do try to include the content of many issues raised in my weekly ‘Letters from the Atlantic’. One regular question is, of course, “How do I get a job in the Canary Islands?” I met an old acquaintance in town the other day. He appeared to be both angry and disappointed that employers in the Canary Islands were not anxious to give him a job. I pointed out that as the Canary Islands and Spain have the worst unemployment situation in Europe, the priority would be given to locals when it came to job opportunities, and particularly since he didn’t speak Spanish. Maybe he could try setting up his own business, since I knew that he had skills that could come in useful. I suspect that my suggestion fell on deaf ears. He went on to tell me that his friend had managed to get a job, but it was only paying him 40 euros a day, which he dismissed as derisory. I can think of several local families who would be only too pleased to

receive this amount on a regular basis. The lack of determination to fulfil their dream is often one of the things that surprises and disappoints me about many would-be expats. Many assume that there are jobs and accommodation waiting to be handed to them. Regularly, I point out that, since these islands suffer from the worst unemployment in Europe, most jobs will usually be offered to the Canarians and Spanish who already live here and speak the language. I also receive requests for information about jobs offering full time contracts with health care and benefits, which also surprise me; has anyone seen one of these contracts recently? Others demand “at least the minimum wage”, whatever that is nowadays. Suggestions that they may like to try a job in the catering or leisure industry where there is seasonal demand usually fall on deaf ears. One message this week states, “I am a nurse, and I am looking for a job in the hospital”, followed by “I don't speak Spanish, but I could learn”. Maybe a course in Spanish would be a good idea before applying for a job in Spain? Unrealistically, many of my correspondents are looking to find a job similar to the one that they have in the UK, offering similar pay and conditions, but with the added bonus of a life in the sun. Sadly, most will be disappointed, because many are unwilling to try something new and challenging, as well as creating an opportunity for themselves The harsh truth is that the good times for would-be expats are rapidly disappearing, and will change even more rapidly should the UK leave the European Union. Those halcyon years of free movement of people and jobs, together with affordable housing waiting for any expats wishing to move to a life in the sun in France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece are coming to an end. It is not all bad news, as opportunities do still exist for those would-be expats who are prepared to make an effort. Some of the most satisfied

By Bar rie Mahoney expats that I know are those that have created a job for themselves; they have spotted a demand and tried to fill it. I have neighbours and friends that work from home designing websites, logos or other computer-related tasks. Another has a market stall and does quite nicely selling candles, ornamental lights and other mood accessories to tourists. Another may be found in one of the commercial centres drawing cartoons of those who are prepared to take the risk. I know of a couple running a pet-sitting business, whilst another is a home hairdresser, and one enterprising young man who set up a wind surfing school. These people will never be rich, but they are happy to be in a land of their choosing and earn enough to survive. Of course, such work is not practical if the intending expat has a young family, health conditions, has expensive tastes or is not prepared to work hard. However, opportunities do and always will exist for the determined and those that do not expect to be simply handed an opportunity. Yes, it does take imagination, the ability to identify a need and the determination to succeed, but it can be done. So for all those would-be expats who are expecting an opportunity to be handed to them on a plate, forget it. In today’s world, it is unlikely to happen. Many commentators suggest that opportunities that currently exist, and which many expats have enjoyed over many years, will certainly reduce if the UK leaves the European Union. However, if would-be expats are determined enough to ‘live their dream’, they can make it happen. The ‘Really Original’ Supper Show

ampoverde Theatre Group presented a really original supper show at Phoenix Nights Bar that delighted the capacity audiences. Taking the starting point the year of the Battle of the Somme, some 100 years ago the group presented memories in song, images, dance and sketches of events over the last century. Thanks to work produced by Viva TV pictorial images supported the various elements of this show. We were entertained by the Andrew Sisters, Max Miller regaled us with a string of funny stories that had the audience in stitches, we heard the story of little Albert being evacuated and had a visit from Dad’s Army. There was very funny sketch about the working of Bletchley Park incorporated war time issues with modern computer

scams and a hilarious account about Vera Lynn trying to negotiate a programme for entertaining the troops. The audience really warmed to the Campoverde Dancers with their memories of Glenn Millar, the Bond movies and The Darling Buds of May. The show concluded with the songs Can’t You Feel My Love and Bring Him Home that linked all the elements of the show together, and were especially relevant as the two chosen charities to benefit for the three performances were the Royal British Legion and Help the Hero’s. There was general agreement that Campoverde Theatre Group had produced a really affectionate and entertaining evening enjoyed by all.

There are two ways for holidaymakers to get Internet,

After a few weeks of quiet and relaxation I met Angelos in Fowof located in the Mercadona Arcade in Los Alcazares, who was there on a visit to make sure everything was “OK”. Now as I am sure you know Tasia and Anne are fantastic in the shop and it is a quiet and serene situation with computers Tablets etc. coming in and going out on a regular schedule that is running smoothly, but Angelos thrives on problems and getting the wrong end of the conversation and finds that a ‘no problem’ situation is impossible to understand. After spending 30 minutes there he took me for a coffee, as there was nothing for him to get involved in. I explained how everything was going well and asked how the restaurant was doing. Because to keep him gain-fully employed, he now runs the family run restaurant in Mil Palmeras. What is strange is that Angelos the Chef and host at the restaurant is a different person, accommodating and fun especially on Saturdays when there is Greek Music, now we all know, (me especially) that Dads Dancing, is a great embarrassment to their children, my daughter who gets married next week has asked me not to dance at her wedding! Angelos is treated the same, but we were there last Saturday and the dancing to Zorba the Greek was enjoyed by all the customers, but the staff cringed behind the bar when Angelos joined the line of customers. It was fantastic fun for us but sadly the children, who work at the “Isle Mediterranean” Mil Palmeras were suffering from a similar problem to my daughter, I can only say that we believe we are doing really well and can not understand the thoughts of our children. After about 10 minutes the kids and the other chef all joined in proving the kids wrong and they had a great night. The Isla Mediterranean Restaurant, has a fantastic menu full of Greek specialties, the Greek Meze is ideal for any of you who have not tried it, it is a mixture of Greek favorites including King size Prawns, Musaka, Pork Kebabs on skewer, plus other items of the day. The Meze is served on a tray ideally for 2 persons complete with 3 Greek dips. At 12.50€ a person it’s great value. If you need directions or for a reservation phone 865 770 774 you will receive a great welcome and don’t forget to mention you read about it in the Informer.

1: If you have a smartphone, get a Labara sim card for the time you are here to use in your phone for 15€ and you will get 5 hours of calls to the UK, USA, Europe, free, 1gb of internet which is more than enough for most people including me for a month, plus calls free Labara to Labara. It lasts for 1 month.

Tablet, Laptop, also her phone on the internet plus even her visitors could use it. But after 6 weeks she returned to hospital taking her trusty Hot Spot and found it did not work?? Now a Hot spot is similar to having internet on your phone, it is a pay as you go, costing around 15€, you get 1 month of internet for you and family and friends who are with you in your house or wherever you decide to use it. But after a month you must recharge it, or if you are in the UK recharge it on your return, you will get another month, this is a great idea for anyone who is here but not all the time, they can recharge it whenever then use it for there stay, but you can also take it back to the UK and recharge it there with a Labara sim card or similar and receive internet there. It is usable most anywhere in the world with a locally obtained sim card plus when you return to Spain it can also be recharged ready for use, saving you annual contracts for internet that cost around 23€ a month. Now everything has a downside, this is only Video, should you use Skype or watch TV you will run out of credit much quicker. A normal user like me who can use a Hot Spot day and night for a month to receive and send Emails use Facebook, Whatsapp, etc, you will not need any further Internet access. But talk to Tasia or Anne and get your Internet access immediately. They will explain the usage and the cost, but you will be surprised at the fantastic speed you get with normal use.

A family on holiday using a Vodaphone from the UK managed to get a bill for £600 for calls to and from the UK when on holiday for just 2 weeks! Remember Roaming is not good when you are abroad and can seriously affect your bank balance. 2: IF you purchase a HOT SPOT at around 69.00€ you then pay 15€ for 1 month, internet 24/7 enough to receive and send plus look up on the internet all your needs, you can use all your Tablets, Computers and Phones, they will receive internet, just log on and you are away, remember, Whatsapp is free and through the internet is a great way of keeping in touch, better than Texting or Emailing plus you can speak to the person and its “Free” subject to you being on line. A regular customer who is in Hospital in Murcia has found the Hot Spot invaluable, When she is not allowed visitors, she keeps in touch 24/7 through the HOTSPOT. For those of you here who are looking to getting your Computer, Laptop, Tablet or phone, repaired or cleaned of viruses, I would recommend you don’t delay as it will increase the speed of your machine vastly plus no more adverts when surfing the internet unless you download more. Always beware of being asked to download remaining; this usually includes adware and other viruses that are only there to annoy us when trying to look for something that was at the outset simple. I tell everyone if you need information or help in any way go into Fowof in the Mercadona Arcade, they are open 106pm you will find friendly and helpful staff who will sort out your problem.

Back to Fowof, if anyone is looking for a printer, there is a special offer of 59.00€, this comes with Scanner, photocopier, plus includes ink cartridges. As we all know this can be the cost of a set of new Cartridges, so you get the Printer for a great price. They also have other specials on Phones, for those of you who have not yet got a smart phone, take a look in Fowof, let Tasia or Anne show you the benefits. If you get the Labara sim card with the 15€ package you can receive Internet 24/7 wherever you are and if you go into a Wi-Fi supplier i.e. yours or a cafe it automatically switches to using theirs. This is the time to do your Downloads or Skype your family in the UK as it’s free and does not use your credit.

Tasia and Anne are both knowledgeable about every aspect of computers so our problems are usually sorted out quickly and at little cost; to clean a computer is only 39€ and is normally ready to collect in 24 hours or less. This is the benefit of having in-house engineers, who save time spent sending your item away, plus the extra cost involved.

I have been asked to explain the Hot Spot, as a friend who had one when in hospital and found she could use her

See their main advert on page 1.

One last point, beware if you hold a UK Bank account, we have had 3 emails from readers who have been approached asking for information about their accounts. If in doubt, send it to the security department of your bank they will not mind if it’s genuine, you are just being cautious.

HELP MAKES MORE DONATIONS This has been a good week for HELP Murcia Mar Menor and an even better week for the charities Caritas Torre Pacheco and A.M.M.A. as HELP has been able to make donations from funds raised during 2015 to both organisations to enable them to carry on their good works. On Wednesday 4th May Pat Massingham HELP´s President accompanied by Vice President Elaine Dale presented Snr. Jose Garcia Martinez, President of Caritas Torre Pacheco with a cheque for €2000 which will enable Caritas to continue it´s work in the area. Torre Pacheco is a large town and there are at least 500 families in need of help which Caritas does in different ways. It provides free food and clothing to families with no income or benefits. It also runs a small supermarket where people who have vouchers can buy food at much reduced prices. Caritas also runs a shelter for the homeless where they can stay for

up to three nights. They are able to house up to 16 people who get bed, breakfast, and use of a shower. These people are normally brought in by the police and are in genuine need. Caritas also runs a centre for children with learning difficulties. These children are helped with extra lessons in order to achieve a higher standard in their own time. On Friday May 6th it was the turn of A.M.M.A. (Alzheimer Mar Menor Association) to be presented with a cheque which will swell their funds and enable them to continue to run workshops for people with dementia in the San Pedro del Pinatar area. These workshops are supervised by professionals and at the moment they are able to look after up to ten people on a Wednesday and Friday morning between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm and provide some respite for the families. Again Pat Massingham the President of HELP Murcia Mar

Caritas presentation Menor presented a cheque for €2000 to Raquel Peña, President of A.M.M.A. who was accompanied by Belen Quieruga at the Pensionistas Club in San Pedro del Pinatar. Raquel Peña said during the presentation that one of the future aims of A.M.M.A. is to establish a residential care home in the area for those suffering from Alzheimers and other dementias. “The old Los Arcos hospital would make a perfect care home for those in need of help” she said. HELP Murcia Mar Menor has supported A.M.M.A. in past years and was pleased to make another donation from funds raise by HELP during 2015.

INFORMER GOLF Golf Deluxe is Spain's foremost American style Putting experience, located in Los Alcazares on the Poligono Industrial, on the road to Torre Pacheco, just 2 kms from the centre of Los Alcazares, with mountains waterfalls and all the other trials that were built to put you through your paces. It is interesting and a great game for all ages. Open from 10am till around 7pm this time of year, it has a fully stocked bar and it also boasts some of the cheapest yet the best food in the area. Spend a great morning or afternoon at Golf Deluxe with family and friends, they will all love it. The cost is only 8€ for adults and children under 10 pay only 6€ each. They also have a "Play & Eat Deal" which is 13€ this includes a choice of freshly prepared dishes and a round of Crazy Golf.

The Brits are getting a new lease of life in the Golf competitions with Justin Rose, my favourite player, coming in a close third with Rory Mcillroy coming joint fourth, this following Willet winning the Masters and with Lee Westwood joint third looks good after a lean period. But the main news seems to be the expected return of Tiger Woods, now I know some will say he has already had a comeback but each time it seems his back lets him down, forcing him to take further time out and to have more operations on his back. Now I am all for anything that gives more emphasis and makes the game more interesting for the crowd, I believe many players forget they pay the wages of the players and the caddies who after all are playing for their own esteem but the money is from sponsors and gate receipts, these are only improved with the impending return of a player like Tiger Woods; this gives great publicity for the competition. Not long ago Rory Mcillroy was an equal draw to Tiger Woods however he seems to be going through a time in his life where he has lost the consistency. He used to be so good, I remember when after massive publicity he changed his main sponsor getting new clubs, bag etc. only to spend 18 months in the Doldrums, missing cuts and bringing up the rear, one wonders in this situation what the new sponsor does? I am sure the previous sponsor was laughing all the way to the bank, after not having to pay the huge fees top players get for using the

clubs, Watches, Tees etc. etc. of a sponsor. Plus I am sure most people like me thought it best to buy the clubs he used and not the new sponsors make, so the ex-sponsor must have reveled in the advertising that he did not have to pay for, or just to say we supplied Rory when he was winning with our clubs. That and the loss of the Tennis player girlfriend seemed to effect him in a bad way. Tiger Woods I think, he was hit with a divorce settlement, that equaled the cost of replacing all the houses on the Isle of Wight, now I can see why they have prenuptial agreements, perhaps Rory should have had a similar one but a prenuptial girlfriend agreement. If any one of us had earned the money that Tiger Woods earned in his long career, we would be retired and living in the Caribbean, but when you are that good and that rich when you get divorced you continue to pay for the rest of your life. But still my wife said his wife deserved it after the public humiliation she suffered! But I am in a position that should I need a divorce settlement, we are both aware that after splitting our magnificent wealth, we would be lucky to buy a new golf bag each, so my wife is stuck with me unless a younger model with more money comes along! She said she would settle for either of the items to be for-filled, but the younger sounds good, plus she has not been used to money for many years! Tiger Woods on his rediscovery of Golf visited his new course in Houston called Blue Jack National. A strange name but obviously means something to Tiger, whether Tiger Woods will be known like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, or Gary Player, who made their names after they stopped playing by designing or putting their names to different courses. This is a great way today of extending your career after you are unable to compete any more, though most of these still played top class golf whilst in the seniors. So whether Tiger will be remembered for his fantastic golf career, his off the course exploits, or his course building will be interesting, though he assured the waiting press on arrival that he hopes to return to golf this year after the most recent lay off of 8 months, in this time he has been hands on with the design and building of Blue Jack National. Tiger has veered away from the normal that has water hazards at every hole; I suppose someone must have liked the water hazard. It seems he has looked and seen how good the open fairways are of Augusta, this makes the course attractive to all class of players, from the beginner to the professional, no bag of lost balls so the medium player gets a good game very little deep rough, unlike many UK courses. It also has a Par 3 course attached that can be played at night (floodlit) after having, or even while having, a sociable evening, I wonder what will it cost? The basics are listed below but day-to-day players are not

encouraged, but when you see the fees there is little chance of us being able to afford a day at any of these courses. Joining fees start at £70,000 and £7,200 per year just to be able to play then there are the normal costs of playing on a course like that! But who can pay these prices? Pensions must be good in America! The price of golf has risen over the years, even here in Murcia but not luckily in keeping with the U.S. There are also men only courses. Strange the diversity of players on a course is what I find interesting being them male or female good or bad, the only way to improve your game is play against better players, otherwise we would all be the same and it would be boring. Back to Tigers impending return, it seems that the back operations have been relatively unsuccessful, with regard to getting him back on the road to recovery also recovering enough to play golf, whatever we all think of his open private life, he is a great draw for sponsors within the golf circuit. If it was not for the players who were that bit different from the rest, people would not rush to see them even though I like many others prefer to watch golf on the TV, that way I do not miss the big shot or an Eagle by standing at the wrong hole, even though I am sure many would prefer to be there live. But the comfort of my chair and the view of every shot gives me all I want from the game

plus the cost of attending a top competition can run into 100s of pounds plus travel. So I save my money and watch it at home. We are returning to the UK for a week and was hoping to get a game in, but we are told that many of the courses remain unplayable due to the rain they have had since September last year. So Murcia with its sunshine and generally good weather gives us golf 12 months of the year. With the problems in Europe let's hope that many more players are attracted to Murcia, plus when the players start arriving, courses should make it more attractive for players to come here. I am still surprised that two people and a buggy pay 130€? This is the going rate, yes as I have said we all know you can get it cheaper, but fresh of the plane that is the charge being put forward to arriving players. When you think that unlike many courses in the world especially the UK, you can play here 12 months of the year yet the cost is more than the UK charges for an average of 8 months. We need more people in general to come to Murcia. Golf is only one item where they are overcharged for services, Go into your local Spanish bar and buy a drink, then go to some expat bars and see the difference why? We need to encourage more people here all year round Great weather but little or no visitors.
