aving shared a box of chocolates with the members of the press, a token celebration of his two years at the helm of Orihuela, the mayor of the municipality, Monserrate Guillén, said that the government team still has “much to do”, and that his team has no intention of “giving in”. It was on the 11th of June, 2011, that the political playing field of Orihuela changed.

Mónica Lorente and the Partido Popular were ousted from government to be replaced by a multi-party group, formed of a collaboration between the Los Verdes, the party Guillén represents, the PSOE and a joint CLR and CLARO group. It didn´t take too long for the government group to start to dissolve, facing criticism, anarchy and unrest, which led to resignations, expulsions and the now two party coalition government of the Los Verdes and PSOE.
