Women Hear them roar! By Leslie Wakulich Staff Writer In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Women's Suffrage Movement, the Oklahoma Women's Summit II was held at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 24 in UCO's University Center Ballroom. The event commemorated the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. "The passage of the 19th Amendment is one of the most significant achievements in American history," said Claudia Tarrington, chair of the Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women. "The ratification was the culmination of a 72-year nonviolent strategic campaign to give half the people in this country

full citizenship," she said. UCO's first lady, Donna Nigh, was one of seven women inducted into the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame in a ceremony that was part of the celebration. "She (Donna Nigh) contributed over 30 years of public service to Oklahoma, not only as a spouse of a public official, but in her own right," said Kathi Goabe, senior vice chair of the Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women. Nigh focused primarily on helping the physically challenged, said Goabe. Also inducted into the Hall of Fame were Nancy Goodman Feldman, Barbara J. Gardner, Ruthe Blalock Jones, Mona Salyer Lambird, Gloria Grace Langdon and Bernice Compton Mitchell.

paper. The decision was made to save money, said Mark Hanebutt, the paper's adviser. The Vista is doing its part to streamline the university's departmental expenses in the face
