Mealtime with a difference
Two food loving companies get together to create a divine dine-at-home mealtime experience.
Cumbrian cake maker extraordinaire Lisa Smith, owner of Ginger Bakers, and Sippie Mungaraza, CEO and Co-Founder of Mealtime, the UK’s first African & Caribbean together inspired a frozen meal and meal kit delivery service.
During the pandemic, Sippie spotted a gap in the market catering for customers up and down the country who were hankering after a healthy, tasty and convenient offering, inspired by African and Caribbean cuisines.
Quickly realising she was onto something, Sippie set about creating a range of classic dishes that could be delivered directly to the home as either frozen or freshly pre-prepared meals with a whole range of starters, main courses, desserts, drinks and snacks.
Delicious meal options include their signature dish, grilled salmon in red pepper sauce, African sweet potato cream bake served with Mediterranean vegetables, curry goat, rice and peas with sautéed green beans, Zanzibar fish curry with rice and roasted vegetables, boerewors sishebo with chakalaka and seasonal vegetables, and vegan Jollof rice with sweet beans in pepper sauce and roasted vegetables.
Sippie, was also keen to use the very best ingredients available to her, which involved many months of visiting British farms and producers and carefully selecting ingredients to provide a wide range of flavours, textures and colours, so that Mealtime customers could enjoy authentic dishes without having to compromise. And, more importantly, without having to experience dishes brim full of additives or preservatives.
